Somewhere deep in the earth, lay a sleeping giant, a massive beast by whom to most considered to be ancient and wise. Yet feared by so many more, the damp thickness of moisture in the air kept it cool and habitable for the creature. Like so many before it, it was faced with relentless onslaught by invaders seeking its prized possession, its life. The cave was massive, about two stories tall and over fifty feet end to end, tunnel to tunnel, a drop of water fell from a stalagtite and landed on the beasts head. The eyes that were once shut opened to reveal bloodred irises and slitted pupils, as black as night were its scales, as sharp as blades were the claws at the ends of its fingers. It stirred opening its mouth to reveal spear like teeth, and as it stirred it gave way to the compact space it dwelled inside, and as it moved it knocked off stone from the ceiling, and crushed stalagmites beneath its very feet. It moved through a tunnel big enough for it to traverse without being caught and stuck in a tight space, if any man had been there to see, it would have been missed as the beast moved swiftly from its hole in the ground heading top side. It shook the ground beneath it as it came to light, the sun blinding it temporarily, it squinted and looked around. From the deepest recesses of a far off forest birds and animals scattered like cockroaches.
The mighty black beast looked about it, taking in all the sights and sounds and smells, it groaned as it shook its head. It had a migraine, a bad one at that, looking beneath him he watched animals scurry away in fright and fear, his eyes followed. Then he could feel it in the air, something new, something he had yet to see, curiosity overwhelmed him, and his apparent size began to grow smaller. Smaller until he was in the form of a human, but it was old form of human, hair as black as pitch, eyes as brown as dirt, a beard that swayed to his lower torso. Large biceps encompassed his arms, a nose that was long forgotten in its apparent ancient shape. He moved about the forest, walking through the trees, feeling the grass and wood roots and rotting leaves beneath his humanoid feet.
He wore nothing but animal fur across his body, long powerful strides led him to the edge, he was after all curious. His hair was lengthy about four feet long, he was hunched over, looking still more beast than man, he was ancient indeed as that was the last thing he had seen of the ape race, homoerectus just before the evolutionary jump into mans true form. He paced himself, looking about this way and that, following the scents in the air. He paused, reaching the very edge of the forest, he went wide eyed, before him stood a massive unknown structure of stone and wood. "Guh!" He shouted having no real language but noises and hand gestures. He swallowed hard and went to investigate the structure, eyes darting left and right, he took in every detail of the structure. "Huuhhhh" he grunted again as he placed his hand on the stone carving, looking around it he found the door, but he had no clue how to open it. Running his fingers along the carved wood, he took it in, placing his hand on the handle he appraised it. Until he opened it by accident, he jumped back hissing at the door, until he realized it was no threat, beyond the wood barrier he could see for seemed like miles, he entered the soft carpeting upon his feet made him look down and crouch down to sniff the floors upholstery. He moved his way around, taking in all he could, his mind was a fluster with thoughts, noticed the dragon carvings made of metal and stared at them. He had never seen metal until now, all this time he had been sleeping, all this time he had been dreaming, and life was at its peak. But it wasn't like he knew that, instead his reaction was to hiss at it and back away around a corner, he stumbled this way and that, unsure of what was going on. Until a statue caught him by surprise and he screamed at it throwing his arms around to make himself look more fierce in the eyes of predators.
