The Cat Scratch Tree House
Casual Walk In Bar and Hangout
We're open! Come on in!
Weather: Winter is coming. The leaves took their sweet time leaving the fingers of the trees, the nearby townspeople have progressed through their harvest and have become more and more scarce with the dropping temperatures. Sheets of clouds rolling by tell of coming snow, and the mornings now come with frost. The great TreeHouse itself is now mostly bare of leaves, and Yuni has to kick the generator up a notch to keep everything warm and powered.

One day, a day not unlike this one today, a pair of nekos was brooding over the sheer lack of nekos they have met over their relatively short lives. The female had only seen a baby’s handful, and the male hadn’t seen any besides the few at the tavern he had met the girl at. It was a pretty sad day, despite how sunny it was. But then, like the rising tension in one’s gut after consuming too much Taco Bell, an idea came exploding out of these two.
What if they set up a place? It would certainly attract more friends, possibly more nekos. It would provide Yuni, the female, a shop for her weapon crafting. And Alex, obviously the male, would have a home for himself and his sunny catnaps. However, they run into a problem. Buying a place—legally, sorry Yuni—was out of their world. They did not make enough for a place suited for a pair of cat-people, and definitely not Yuni’s imagination. Unable to tell if she was giddy or gassy, Yuni goes to one of her friends. Someone who had experience making places. Literally, places like planets and grand landscapes with mountains and forests. This powerful friend granted the emergence of a giant tree situated in the midst of a forest, close to a bustling town. The trunk of this beast of a tree could easily swallow a 2 or 3 story building, with low and high branches for the adventurous climber. It took a few days as this type of magic was old and often complicated to preserve the life of the tree.
But Yuni and Alex got their treehouse. The tree was literally the house. And boy, did they love it! They outfitted it with the needed appliances and furniture, and stocked the kitchen and bar to the brim. There were few guest rooms, so Yuni charmed a doorway of one guestroom to open to a fabricated space between realms. This little fixed portal turned out to be a long hallway with doors lining both side, giving ten more guestrooms. Each guestroom had its own small bathroom and shower, and each of the guestrooms in this little realm had a different view out of the window. Some could see the vast dunes of a golden desert, others would see the ocean, and others still would have the picturesque view of mountains. Just… don’t open the windows and think you can leave the tree house that way. You’ll only fall into nothing, lost in a ripple between realms until someone can get you.
Walking up, you’ll see windows both large and small from the base of the tree to the top. By the massive above-ground roots, you can see a large fire pit and logs circling it. On the opposite side, there is the lake that the tree sustains itself on. The path you took to get here had been specifically cut and stomped out to avoid anyone getting lost, leading from the edge of the woods by the town. Another path leaves the tree house that leads through the rest of the forest.
Upon entry, one will find that they have entered right into a cozy little foyer with a staircase curving along the wall. A mysterious door with an ‘X’ painting in black on it is tucked away under the stairs, presumably locked and charmed-locked. Another door along the curved inner trunk has the classic unisex bathroom sign, a little light set in the wall next to it that had a little sign saying 'OCCUPIED'. The light can be switched on once inside the bathroom. There is an archway to your right, and peering inside you can see the warmly lit bar and lounge. The nekos had invested in small games in the lounge like a dart board, a card table, and a chess table. The lounge was very open with large windows practically making up the wall, and a small fireplace carefully lined with brick and metal. The bar counter looked as if it were a part of the tree itself, polished to shine and pulsing faintly with life energy. Behind the counter there are several shelves of drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, as well as a mini-fridge for the odd things like blood-packs and raw meat. Gotta appease the masses. Behind the counter was also a swinging door that opened to the kitchen, outfitted to satisfy the cook that was Yuni. Very nice, very clean and well stocked with appliances, utensils, and food.
If you would like to explore more, go back to the foyer and head up the stairs. The first stop is the guestroom floor. Two of the doors opened to regular guestrooms in this realm, the third door being the portal one. The next floor led to an open deck that jutted out of the wide trunk and overlooked the lake, supported by a tangled mass of twigs and branches that would be the nekos’ jungle gym play area. The deck had a few small tables and a grill for outdoor eating, looking quite serene. Moving on up the trunk, you find the stairway getting narrower and more open with the windows. One door that you'll pass on the way up has the engraving of 'Alex' on it, supposedly the room of the co-owner. Towards the top of the tree and overlooking the other treetops is where the hangout spot is, usually used as Alex’s sunny napping spot. Beautiful view of the surrounding landscape and the nearby town, and peacefully quite.
So come on in! Make yourself at home!
