The Blank Slate Inn

One could journey through the valleys, follow the rivers beneath the mountains, and wonder among the trees of the forests, but usually the best way to get here is by following a path. Paved city roads, brick walkways, beaten dirt paths…they will all have twists and turns and corners where you’re unsure of where you’ll be next; but they will always lead to a destination. Let the Blank Slate Inn be one…even if it is just a brief stop on the way through life, anyone visiting will find the place to be unique yet comforting.

There are pockets of magic in the land that not only effect the where and who but the when as well. The Blank Slate Manor was built upon one such pocket. There, anything can happen at any time…from space alien invasions to a pirate masquerade feast; not that Cerynitis Shi isn’t prepared for any such nonsense. She is an artist with a plan who specifically chose that area for her home and place of business.

While the Blank Slate Inn was something else before she came into the area, she saw the potential of the land and the wild magic surrounding it. Using her artistic abilities and imagination, Cery rebuilt the structure, turning it into a manor of sorts…one of which that would better withstand to the ever constant changes the magic in the area tended to have on the area...or at least that's what she thought at first, but she's already working on fixing that!

So welcome and stay for a while. You never know what might happen until you pass over the door step.

Golden Gatekeeper

About the Owner.

User ImageCerynitis Shi is a bit of a strange creature. Though she has no real gender or sexual orientation, because of her last name she tends to refer to herself as a female. She was born with a set of horns and cat-like ears, but otherwise looks rather human and dresses in a variety of styles whenever the mood suits her. Oh, and let's not forget to mention that she's only in the 4-5ft range, depending if she's wearing heals or not...or the fact that she has three fingers and a thumb per hand, with the same number of digits on her feet as well!

At times, when she's in a good mood, she has quite the bubbly personality, but don't mistaken that to being always kind and friendly. She has a mean streak that can scare up a storm if you're not careful!

About the Employees.

User ImageCera created the various servants that you'll find around the area. For the current moment, they seem more like impressionistic blobs of paint and color that resemble people, but without the fine details of an actual face or style of clothes. If asked about it, she'll simply say she had an idea, but her mind hasn't fully revealed what it'll be just yet. She can occasionally be seen painting on some finer details on one of these servants once she has a better idea of what it's suppose to look like.

Name: Rowen (DizzyThoughts)
Race: Leocorn
Job: Grounds Keeper
Other: Though he lacks the skills for some of the more modern equipment on the estate, Cera takes a great delight in having someone seemingly familiar around. Familiar in reference to their similar animal-like traits. It was only recently learned that he is a lost Royal of the Court of the Light Unicorns.

Name: Will and Winnie Hark (Pleasantly Ridiculous)
Race: Human/Donor
Job: Donor/Bartenders
Other: Being descended from two dhampirs, Will and Winnie are a set of twins that were born to be Donors; as in they have the ability to keep up with a vampire's insatiable appetite without the risk of dying or being turned. Unlike most humans, they also were granted a few of the vampires' common strengths and are resistant to some of the vampires' other attributes.

About the Guests and Residents.

Name: Chloe (Pleasantly Ridiculous)
Race: Leocorn
Other: It took a while to figure out what Chloe was, as her qualities were far from the human form she normally takes. But now it is known that she is a Leocorn and a lost Royal of the Court of the Dark Unicorns.

Would you like to stay here? Let us know that you would, at least then we can keep track of who comes and goes.

Golden Gatekeeper

Plot.

The Blank Slate Inn has fallen under a bizarre time paradox and is now under new ownership!

Due to the new ownership, the estate has been put under some extreme renovations. Having not known or understood the special conditions of the property, Sawyer Fairfax went in search for the Blank Slate Inn in hopes of finding a near and dear friend of hers. Unfortunately, she would not find her friend, nor any signs of the previous owners...but instead the petite and enchanting creature that is Cerynitis.

While the two discussed the special qualities of the estate, a young, modern day gypsy girl snuck her way into the main building. Having been served by the magical beings of Cera's artistic creation, Aisling Dubhthach started to explore the library. In the lower level of the two story room, she found something most unusual, but before she could figure out what she was dealing with, one of the mystical servants came along and ushered her away!

The following day, Rowen the Leocorn returned, unaware just how long he had been away since he originally applied for the job at the Blank Slate Inn. When there was confusion between him and Aisling as to what year it was, Cera explained how the estate was under the influence of a time paradox…which unnerved her newest guest and employee a bit. But all was not loss, as there was much to do around the estate. Aisling helped Rowen figure out why the sprinkler system wasn’t working properly, and when superstition got in the way of rational thinking, they found themselves at odds at whether or not to trust each other’s judgment.

While Cera busies herself in expanding upon the property, Aisling gets more and more curious about what Cera is, and what she might potentially be hiding...

Upon discovering a secret door in the main library, Aisling and Rowan were thrown into a whirlwind of an adventure caused by Cera's holographic security system; preventing them from finding out what exactly she's hiding down there. The two eventually find themselves in the Communal Guest Building, just before a tornado threatened to hit the estate. While they hit from the threat, the gypsy girl learned that the leocorn was bound to the estate...but neither stuck around to learn either how or why.

After several guests have come and gone, a blind man who goes by the name of Aludian has come along to stay at the Blank Slate in hopes of finding his calling or reason for staying. Daedalus Joon, a vampire who was originally looking to drown his sorrows, found himself battling some beholders and helping to defend the estate. The elder daemon Tramp the Hunter found a seemingly human girl named Chloe residing at the estate…excited to smell a familiar scent, and also helpful in fighting off the beholders. Then there’s the ever playful Briar Hailglimmer, a pixie who likes to cause trouble…even if it ended up getting her and Dae in trouble.

Briar had Aisling sitting on the ceiling when the gypsy girl tried to leave. Rowan and Dae insisted that the pixie let the girl down, and upon doing so, Aisling’s cheek was scratched by the leocorn’s horn. The blood from the scratch put Dae in a bloodlust, and just as Rowan and the vampire were about to fight each other, Cery and her brute squad came in and broke it up. Because Briar was the cause of the conflict and Dae had threatened to attack the gypsy and the leocorn, Cery put the faerie and vampire in the holographic dojo and had them run through a trial. After battling for their lives, they learned their lesson about how their actions might affect other people, and went to apologize to Rowan and Aisling.

While Aisling was completely offended by Briar’s apology, Rowan forgave both the pixie and the vampire while the gypsy girl up and left the estate. Chloe, who had been injured during the Battle of the Beholders, was out stretching her legs when she met up with Briar…who offered to heal the tenderness in her leg. When the pixie used a restoration spell on the girl, the power that was only supposed to focus on her leg was sucked into the rest of her body, and became corrupted. Thanks to the mystical powers that were concentrated in Rowan’s horn, the corrupted magic was cleansed out of Chloe…though all three of them were wary as to what had happened and what might have caused such a reaction.

The following day, Rowan, Dae, Briar, and Choe found themselves enjoying each other’s’ company in the café. The topic of magic and Chloe’s reaction to it came up, and Dae inquired about if she was truly human or not. Rowan seemed as though he might have the answers, but was unforthcoming with them…and simply directed them to a specific floor of the Communal Guest House’s library. The leocorn would then summon Briar away with him to discuss what he truly was and how he came to form he was currently trapped in.

As Chloe and Dae searched for answers among books that had no words upon their pages until they were opened, the earth began to quake, and Cery announced for everyone to get out of the buildings as quickly as possible…!

Taking shelter in a dome painted by Cery, the guests of the Blank Slate Estate awaited to hear news of the world around them. Cerynitis revealed that the Wild Magic had destroyed the estate, but she had managed to paint some lodgings for everyone to use while she expanded upon them. Sometime afterwards, Aludian emerged from his temporary room to explore the new surroundings a bit, while Rowan’s tail grew in unexpectedly as Briar pestered Dae for a bit.

A new guest arrives looking for Dae while tempers fly between Chloe and Rowan, leaving Briar as a casualty in her attempts to find out the truths hidden deep within the Beauty and the Beast. Akane, longing to by Dae’s side, agrees not to attack anyone for their blood, per Cerynitis’ rules…but only time will tell how long she keeps to her agreement. Especially when everyone goes to the ball!!!

After Akane failed to seduce Rowan and later finds Dae sicker than ever, Cerynitis take it upon herself to hire a set of twins who so happen to be Donors: A type of human who are sought after by vampires who wish to feed fresh, but not kill. Will and Winnie came from a group who usually work the party and event circuit, who so happened to be working at the Blank Slate's Masquerade Ball!

New and returning guests appeared at the event, and unintended announcements were made upon Rowan and Chloe's behalf. It was revealed that they were the missing Royals; Rowan of the Light Unicorn's Court while Chloe was of the Dark Unicorn's Court. A mage by the name of Barith offered to act as a counselor to the young Royals...however...there is still much tension between Rowan and Chloe despite learning that they are of similar relations. time will only tell if these prince and princess of the Leocorns will ever see eye to eye.

Golden Gatekeeper

The Manor House / The Basement Level.

All good buildings start with a sturdy and strong foundation. During the sudden burst of magical energy caused by the Wild Magic the Blank Slate Estates is engulfed in, Cerynitis decided it was perhaps safest to put everything under one roof instead of various different roofs; in the hopes of making sure the guests didn’t get lost. So, to start things off she created the Basement Level; giving it several common areas for people to gather and socialize, as well as just enough private rooms for employees and guests to reside in until Cery is able to prepare the upper floors.

The Common Areas

The Common Areas include the Reception, Tea Room, Kitchen, Billiard Room, Ball Room, Library, and there is a bathroom for public use. The Garden is also included as a common area, even if there are little huts in the trees for some of the wee-little guests.

The Reception

While there are many ways of getting into the inn from the outside, the primary exterior entrance through the basement would be the Reception. In there is a corner counter area where guests can sign in, behind which appears to be a mirror from which the silent servants enter and exit through. No one else has the ability to use such mirrors without expressed permission from Cerynitis.

On either side of the corner counter are large doorways. The doorway on the left leads to the Billiard Room, while the doorway on the right leads to the Tea Room. Outside of the Reception is a spiral staircase that leads up to the second floor.

The Tea Room

The Tea Room is a cozy sitting room designed in calming floral purples and greens where one can have a quiet conversation with a good friend. A mahjong table is set up by the picture window, while a comfortable couch and some arm chairs are set up by another window that looks out onto the Garden.

Opposite the doorway to the Reception is a doorway to a small hallway that leads to the Kitchen as well as to the Garden.

The Kitchen

The Kitchen is a large yet warm room designed in oranges and blacks. It is a full service kitchen, complete with all the necessary appliances to cook up the best meals and keep everything clean. There are stools set up at the center counters for guests and employees eat, as well as a table next to a couple of windows that look out onto the Garden. While some of the Guest Suites have built in kitchens and kitchenettes, the Kitchen is open to anyone.

Opposite the doorway that leads out to the small hallway is a door that leads out to the Garden.

The Billiard Room

The Billiard Room is your general classic game room. Classic in the sense as it has your general games from before the era of video games. There’s a poker table in the corner, a chess table by the picture window, a pool table in the center of the room, as well as a dart board and a television in case someone wants to watch a sports game while goofing off with their friends and fellow guests.

Opposite of the doorway that leads from the Reception is another doorway into a small hallway that leads into the Ballroom as well as the Garden.

The Ballroom

The Ballroom is the largest room on this level. The walls are lined with windows to keep the rather empty room look all the more colorful and brilliant. Couches are placed against the walls, and there is a violin, piano, and microphone for those who wish to bring a little bit of music to the otherwise silent room.

In the direction of the grand stairs are several doorways that lead out into an interconnecting hallway. Up the stairs is the second floor, which is lined with balconies, opening up the ballroom for all to gaze down upon.

The Library

The Library is the second largest room on this level, and set in dark tones for the safety of the various books and tomes that are kept on its shelves. Book shelves line all available wall space, wherever there aren’t windows, sconces, or other pieces of furniture. There are plenty of chairs and couches to comfortably sit, read, and relax. There are also some tables as well, for research and study purposes.

Other than the one door that leads into the library from the hallway, there is a set of spiral stairs that lead up to the second floor, and even more books.

The Public Toilets

Like any other public restroom, there are toilet stalls, sinks, and mirrors; all of which are cleaned five times a day. There is only one way to get in and out of the public restroom, and that is through the door from the hallway.

The Garden

The Garden can be accessed from plenty of rooms, but there is also a small gated entrance to the side of the Kitchen. There are two soothing fountains and large wind chimes that make the Garden a pleasant area to walk through beside rows of subtly scented flowers. There is a tree in the center that houses several little huts and cubbies for the smaller races to reside in during their stay at the Blank Slate Inn.

User Image
Thanks to Dizzy Thoughts, we now have an idea of what the huts look like!

The Private Rooms

The Private Rooms are primarily made up of Guest Rooms and Guest Suites. The difference in the two is the fact that the suites have some kind of kitchen or kitchenette, while the rooms don't. Also, because these rooms are set up in the basement, most of the rooms don't have exterior windows, but have interior windows to give a more homely feel.

Descriptions Coming Soon...Editing Stuff Below.

You know...things about the layout and the rooms...and such.

While it has been a long time since Cerynitis had a large multitude of guests, she is not naïve to think that she can get away with having too few rooms available. And so, with that in mind, she set to work on the Second Floor. In the process, she expanded upon the Ballroom and Library, as well as a Bar for those who are need of a stiff drink. She also created three rooms that were unique to either some guests’ specifications, or her own.

The Common Areas

The Common Areas include the Enclosed Patio, Ball Room, Library, and there is a bathroom for public use. There is also the Bar and a stair and elevator area for guests to use to gain extra access to the upper floors.

The Enclosed Patio

Outside of the Reception area of the Basement Level is a set of winding stairs that lead up to the Enclosed Patio. It’s simply a glorified entrance way to some of the 2nd Floor guest rooms. There are a couple of tables and some chairs for those who wish to get together for a light snack or conversation.

From the Enclosed Patio, one can either head back downstairs or head inside to the hall that leads to the guest rooms.

The Ballroom

From the Basement Level of the Ballroom one can head up the grand staircase to find themselves with the option of lingering on the interior balconies or heading out onto the exterior balcony. Just like the level below, there are plenty of places to sit, as well as some tables to use when the occasion calls for a light meal.

From the Ballroom, one can head out into the hallway which leads to the Library, Bar, and guest rooms, or out onto the balcony.

The Library

The Library has been extended to the second floor. This second level can be reached either by the hallway or by the winding stairs between the basement and 2nd floor, or from outside! It is set up almost identically to the basement level library, with the exception of there being various dividing walls to keep people from reading over your shoulder. There is also a wraparound porch outside, complete with protective glass to prevent the harmful rays of the sun from damaging the texts.

One can leave the Library by simply head out into the hallway that leads to the Bar and Guest rooms, taking the winding stairs up or down to the next floor, or head outside…which leads to one possible exit from the estate.

The Public Toilets

Like any other public restroom, there are toilet stalls, sinks, and mirrors; all of which are cleaned five times a day. There is only one way to get in and out of the public restroom, and that is through the door from the hallway.

The Bar

The Bar is warm and inviting, set in greens and wood hues with white marble counters. Green stools line the bar as small tables for two line the opposite wall. Outside is a patio where people can sit and enjoy the fresh air. The Bar leads to an alcove that has a staircase that leads up to the Café on the Third Floor, as well as to a shared porch for three of the multi-level guest suites.

The Stairwell and Elevator

The Stairwell and Elevator basically connects the Second Floor with the upper floors. It is set in blue hues, and has a large, two story window that allows a lot of light to come in, and lots of archways so anyone can come and go without running into another.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The Private Rooms

The Private Rooms are primarily made up of Guest Rooms and Guest Suites, yet on the 2nd Floor, there has been the addition of multi-level rooms called Dual and Master Suites. The Dual Suites can primarily be entered from the 2nd Floor, and lead up to the 3rd Floor, while the one Master Suite starting on the 2nd Floor leads all the way up to the 4th Floor. The Master Suites contain some of the most lavish rooms available at the Blank Slate.

Blank Slate related Doodles.

These are just a few doodles Dizzy Thoughts and I were inspired to draw, thanks to our characters and all the mischief they tend to get into! cat_whee

User ImageEarlier in our story, there was a young gypsy who went by the name of Aisling. While she's no longer a guest at the Blank Slate, she caused Rowan a lot of problems during her stay. While this particular image didn't really happen, it was a fun little idea that I had running through my head.

User Image
There was a time before Rowan came to the Blank Slate. As seen by Dizzy Thought's amazing skills, he once enjoyed the simplicities of laying out in the sun on a clam, breezy day.

User Image This was one of the first drawings Dizzy Thoughts drew of our beloved Rowan. I added the out detailing back when I used it for the Employee Post above. As always, he was such a cutey!

User Image
Then Dizzy Thoughts redrew our beloved Leocorn into a more regal, handsome eye candy for all of us to enjoy! heart

User Image Regal and handsome, even in his natural Leocorn Form. Dizzy Thoughts had a beautiful way of portraying the animal physique of this majestic creature!

User ImageOne of the first colored pieces Dizzy Thoughts drew of Briar Hailglimmer. It is only a bust of the spritely little pixie, but you can already tell by the way she winks that she's up to no good!

User Image When Dizzy and I first talked about holding a ball for the Blank Slate, I had this particular image in mind for Chloe. Obviously, it changed based on the description I gave...but the image is still simply beautiful not to share.

User Image
Oh! A sketch by Dizzy Thoughts of our little mischief maker sneaking up on some unsuspecting victim!

User Image While this was just an idle sketch, I felt it best represented Chloe when I first created her. She was never one for extravagance, but very much enjoy free flowing clothes and simple comforts.

User Image
After Chloe was revealed to be a Leocorn, Dizzy was inspired to draw these beautiful sketches of her!!!

The Shop.

User Image

So here is my shop via CafePress! On here you can find some of my artwork gracing a variety of items ranging from t-shirts to dishware to home décor to travel gear. There’s a special request area where friends and family have asked for something specific that wasn’t previously available, and some of the artwork I’ve drawn up were also on a commission basis.

All in all, whatever I do have up there is primarily based on what’s inspired me. This doesn’t mean I’m not open for commissions, but I’m not always in the mood to draw and I am definitely not drawing anything for gold/free anymore. I have spent my whole life drawing, over 5 years of which earning two different degrees plus another 8 years of continuing to develop my skills to get to the level of drawing I’m currently at, and though I’m not up to the task of going to the corporate work force with it, it doesn’t mean I shouldn’t get paid for the work I put out.
