"It's my duty to protect you...at all costs. As I must also protect myself."

With this final thought, Onyx had laid her inner turmoil to rest. This life, this extraordinary long life she had lived had not been for Heiden. Only the last twenty had been for him. Everything she had been and done up until that point had to mean something. Onyx was willing to admit that a chunk of it had been selfishly sought. What about the rest of it? She lay her knife down...

Onyx's husband was thought to be deceased but there was never a body found. It wasn't like she didn't think about or hope that maybe some way, some how, Soverus was still alive. If he was, why ... no how, could he have kept away from her. From his son? No...she was sure that if he was alive he would have come home by now. Slowly she moved to the veggies and began to chop those up too as her mind moved to the memory of the day she and sov had made their hand prints on the tree. She smiled inwardly at that. Then her mind moved to Rome.

"Why do you still wear it?"

It had been a symbol of faith, loyalty and devotion to Soverus. Even with the idea of him being gone forever, when she looked into her son's face, the miracle child that she never thought was possible for her, it was the same. She had sworn faith, loyalty and devotion as a mother to her son. Unspoken of course. Not all mothers were like that with their offspring. Even among humans. In attempts to not hold on so tight that she suffocated him, she had let a lot of s**t slide. She had sent him all over the place to live and experience. She could understand all of this, her own feelings. The issue between her and her son was ironically Onyx. She knew that one day the life of secrets, lies, betrayal and her actions were going to come back to bite her. The price she would have to pay for the one thing in life she wasn't suppose to have she guessed. Swallowing nasty jagged little pills was hard. Acceptance was even harder.

She took in a deep breath and exhaled. She refused to allow the incident with her son ruin the day/evening she had been desperately trying to have. Soon the curious notes would waft out from the kitchens and out into the bar area. Spices, hot melted butter, cooking wines and vinegars, fresh bread, tender meat, the scents were all crescendoing into a rather beautiful symphony of tantalizing mouthwatering desire. Now while things sat to stew, boil and bake, Onyx would exit out to the bar and slip behind it.

In silence at first she would pour herself a cold glass of import Guinness, on tap. She leaned against the back bar and took a nice deep and healthy sip. An audible sigh to follow. That was some good s**t right there.

(( OMG the feels for SoA crying it was guuuud lol
Good to see you again Jevina, welcome back. ))

"On second thought I think that I will just have a ice water for now, if that is alright..."

She mummers lightly, and looks at the bar table. She looked towards the kitchen and wondered if going in would be safe or not. Then before her mind was made up Oynx had come out quietly. She was pouring herself a drink, and Jenica had gone off somewhere. Rini sips her water quietly, before walking over to the mother figure she had in her life.

"Are you alright?"

Location: Asper ~ Heidens Quarters

He was feeling rather drunk. Boy was he mad. He was wondering why he was so mad. Oh yeah, he was drunk. Taking himself downstairs to his room on the third floor he'd haphazardly slammed the door shut. Heiden had altered this room a bit so that way it looked less like a sleeping quarters and more like an office/lab. His bedroom actually was through a cleverly guised portal through his black gilded mirror. The one given to him by his father. In this altered room was a big desk, book shelves, glass cabinets, and a makeshift green house with plants and herbs. Yes, it was a lab. He had gotten his deep love for alchemy from his mother. He had made a few pretty amazing things so far. Of course considering where he did his training it wasn't that big of a surprise.

He paced this room just going over the incident and the words of his mother. There was something there. Something she wasn't telling him and it was pissing him off. He was her only son. Why couldn't she just tell him? It had to do with Metal. She always got weird when the topic of him came up. Nothing could be so bad that she couldn't tell him and yeah, he took offense. Coming in a close first for him was the subject matter, Rini was a vampire. His mother had issues with vampires. She said that she had resolved her feelings, her hate towards vampires when a certain vampire (the vampire with which Heiden never knew his name) saved his life. Heidens life had meant that much to her that she vowed to absolve it all. But had she? If she was to act a certain way around the Vampire Metal, how would she be able to say she had truly absolved it all? Wouldn't that then mean that Onyx secretly disliked Rini because she was a vampire?

And all of this happened at a reeeeeeeally bad time. Heiden was going to speak to his mother tomorrow about wanting to ask Rini for her hand in marriage. Heiden did not know that his mother had offered Rini a different sort of contract. He did love her despite their tumultuous past. They were young. Young love was hard love. They were still trying to figure s**t out for themselves let alone together. Still, Heiden was always vastly more mature mentally than most people. He was incredibly intelligent as well. He did want her by his side for all time. To have her as his. How the hell was he going to do that now without really ******** things up? His mother hadn't absolved her hatred towards vampires. She was still trying to absolve.

Heiden's hand came to smear down the front of his face as he paced.
[********] he said turning suddenly to smack a beaker of liquid clean off his table. It hit the wall with a smash. Liquid ran down it in thin viney streams. Both hands were up in his hair to push it back and hold onto the top of his head. He tilted his head up towards the ceiling and closed his eye's as his mind raced. He was trying to search for a way for everything to be peacefully resolved. He wanted this to be smooth. He knew this wasn't going to be the case anymore.

Onyx's eye's turned to Rini. They rested upon her face, pretty girl. Weren't most vampires. It was absolutely true that she didn't like vampires. They had earned badges with her all right. Plenty awards and credit given unto that species. And while yes, it was also true that Onyx did have VERY few vampiric friends she was always on her guard even around them. Almalexia came to mind. However, when she met Rini she was NOT a vampire. She had had her suspicions as to the how-abouts rini became a vampire and why. Nothing concrete mind you. Staring at her right now in this moment ... something inside of her wanted to both hug the girl and slap her right across her face. Or perhaps it was truly herself that Onyx wanted to strangle. Poor rini, she didn't know, couldn't have known, how much she and this situation with her son had reminded her of a love affair, history books ago.

It was a rather sad tale. Simple but sad. It was suppose to be a one time love affair. She had never intended for it to be anything more. She was going to make sure she was gone when he woke. But something that night, something about him and their time together had made her stay throughout the night. They had become friends after that, seeing one another from time to time visits and in travel. A personal quest brought him to her and on a quest they went. During a brief separation he was bitten by a vampire. He became a vampire. He loathed himself. He could barely stand himself and given how she had felt about vampires, well it was devastating. Onyx had tried to love and be with him anyways. She just couldn't. Raza had played an integral role within her life at that point in time. He mentored someone dear to Onyx and eventually to Heiden. A poor tortured soul himself. Both now gone from this world in cold blooded murder. It had been hard to live with herself because Onyx had been, even while with Raza, secretly hunting and killing vampires.

Here was her son, fell in love with a girl who became a vampire. Heiden didn't have the same hangups as she did though. This problem still was within Onyx. She forced a smile.
"Yeah...I am sure that I will be alright."

Before becoming a vampire Onyx herself had grown fond of Rini. It was why she agreed to Leo to take care of her whilst helping her to deliver messages on his behalf. The visit to the Asper grew more frequent and got longer and longer. She met and fell in love with the pirates son. There was the problem. She saw their love as something tragic because Rini was turned into a vampire. It was all...deeper than that though. Onyx could handle Rini dating her son. But marriage...the idea of her being legit family...a vampire being legit family...she wanted to s**t her heart out at that prospect. Onyx hadn't honestly thought that their relationship would get that serious. Given their fights, she thought that perhaps it would end badly. The contract she offered would still protect her regardless of what became of those two. It was...just...good business. No. The story of Heiden and Rini was not tragic. Onyx was tragic.

"My son...is drunk. Do you think that you can check in on him at some point for me?" she asked her as she pulled herself together a bit.

She would watch Oynx's face as the womans eyes were upon her face. She had to wonder what was going through the woman's mind. With the tone of her voice earlier, and how she had reacted about the change. Oynx loved her, but something changed, because she changed. But, she was still Rini, just different genetics. Maybe it was with everything Rini and Heiden went through that Oynx did not believe in their love.

There was one nagging thing in her brain, wasn't Metal like a crush or something? He was different too. Sometimes people forgot things, and Rini would love the woman to be in love and happy again. Thought the way her brother looked at Oynx, she knew he was slightly smitten.

"You promise you are alright?"

When Oynx mentioned Heiden was drunk and that Rini should check on him she smiled. So, she was not fully angry.

"I was going to but when you finished dinner, with your permission I was going to take him a plate"

Metal was not a crush. He was a love hate. He was this businesses first official customer (that didn't come for the LN). He was apart of Onyx in many ways. No matter how rough s**t got that was something that could never be undone. For the longest time he was her nemesis. Then he turned into a thorn. Through time and various incidences she had learned the truth about that tormented vampire. Onyx never truly bothered to try and kill him because...his life was punishment enough. There were times though, good times when the two of them laid down their blades to have a break from the fighting. It had been during those times that pieces of the man before the vampire came to the surface. It was that man that Onyx had been attracted to. It confused the living s**t out of her because...his face, his skin, what he did to others, was ALL vampire. His soul was dying over the ages it seemed, the more and more he lived life as a Vampire. That in which made him human appeared at times all but lost. True it wasn't all bad. They did have some amazing memories together. Something in her wanted to fight for hope, to keep hope alive. Maybe...maybe that slice of good that was left in him...could be saved? Metal being a vampire tortured her because for the second time in her life, she felt disgusted with herself for harboring feelings for the 'enemy'. A crush Metal was not. He was sweet poison.

While Onyx's was allowing her issues to cloud her vision regarding her sons love interest, it was also about Heiden being her only son. He wasn't suppose to happen as her Kessen Chu killed all foreign matter in her body. It sounds horrible, it does...but...was she willing to give up her pride and joy to a vampire? Yeah, okay She wasn't your typical vampire and that was because she was but a baby vampire. Perhaps there was a little more hope. She still needed to feed though and the thought of her sinking her fangs into her sons flesh...lets not even go there.

Yes, Rini was still Rini and Onyx needed to keep it firmly in her head. She had to give the credit where it was due. Oni knew that Rini had feelings for her son even before the change. That counted for something. She chuckled softly and shook her head.

"You don't need my permission to take care of my son Rini. I'm sorry...he can be difficult. He takes after his mother." she said grimacing into her glass at that last part. She took another deep and healthy swig of her beer.

"Dinner will be ready soon." she folded her arms slightly beneath her stuffy chest.

Dangerous Businessman

As visually ordered, Khoi hopped down from the stool he sat on and followed Jenica. Once in her room she dug out a nice black cotton t-shirt and a plain pair of Levi's Jeans. Thankfully, she was a small woman. Otherwise the clothes would be way too big. though he'd fill these out in time right? Belted pants with the legs rolled up at the bottoms to avoid dragging the extra length. Pulling on the shoes, they were barely too small, maybe a half size or so. Ultimately it was comfortable enough for short term wear. Next thing he knew, she was leading him out of her room, out of the bar, and off of the boat. Where the hell were they going now?

She spoke to him, more new words he didn't understand. The salty smelling beach boy dressed semi swag simply stood with his hands in his pockets. his brown eyes looking up at her face with a simple smirk. He knew not why they were in the store, he had new clothes on. Maybe she wanted new clothes. Women did love to shop after all. After a long and painful process, they would eventually emerge from the store, having successfully shopped for the boy. And now, they were returning to the ship. Boy was it hard to distinguish what to get between what Jenica thought was cute and what Khoi actually liked.

Listening yet not listening to the conversation that Onyx was having with Rini, Shioon just sat where he was leaning back in a lazy fashion in his seat. As if he did not have a care in the world. He had plenty of them, but he always tried his best not to let them dwell on his mind or influence his mood. He was thinking back though, to times before he was suddenly here after that viscious hard fought battle he had. He was still coming to grips that he was no longer in a place and possibly world he was familiar with. It both intrigued and frightened him at the same time. A chapter in his life to start something new and a chapter in his life where things that had meaning to him and people/creatures he had feelings for were no longer there. One of those epiphanies, if you will, or whatever this sort of thing is called. Shioon sighed, to himself, as he wondered where things were going to go from here.

Leaning back a bit farther than he realized, Shioon suddenly found himself momentarily suspended in mid-air with that zero-G feeling before falling back with a yelp on his back and bumping his head on the floor. Groaning and hissing to alleviate the temporary pain, Shioon did a comically classic move of rolling back and forth as he curled up into the fetal position while gripping the back of his head with both hands. This continued for a few more moments until he slowed to a stop and then splayed himself spread eagle on the floor to stare at the ceiling. He said nothing, did nothing but stare for a few minutes. Then he laughed. Just laughed. Laughed at his situation and just because he felt like laughing. A laugh that was both heart warming and made people feel at ease and for some it made them feel like joining in on the laughter simply because he was laughing, even if they had no reason to laugh themselves. Eventually calming down, Shioon places his arms by his head curled so his hands were above his head and his palms on the floor before he shifted his legs to scissor kick/twirl which flowed into him rising in the air to allow him to use his arms/hands to push himself up further before twirling around on one palm and flipping his body from parallel to perpendicular to the ground and then to standing straight up.

Dusting his clothes off, not that they were dusty or dirty from his fall but rather out of habit, Shioon looked around the room at who was still here. Not that you could see him blush, but he was slightly embarrassed that happened to him. Raising a fist to his mouth he coughed into it as if he were breaking the ice, before heading over to the bar where Onyx was and sitting down on one of the stools.

Ailsa Graystone

While Onyx spoke to Rini and Yi-Shioon spent time quietly by himself, Ailsa decided she better write a letter to Lance. If there was going to be some short of overlord coming to destroy all Supernatural creatures from the world she would rather her family be close by so that they could protect one another. Either they should be close by or they should go off to Anza where no one could touch them... But Anza might not be a place that wanted them back.

Ailsa summoned a note pad and her letter kit from her pocket plane and started her letter. She wrote to Lance explaining the situation and tell him that she wanted him to bring Brad and Celeste to the Asper. She told him all of her worries about the situation and told him she was scared about the Overlord but wasn't sure if she should take it seriously or like Hieden said, just brush it off. She then signed the letter and sent it off with a spell.

Ailsa was sure he would read it and would probably be there soon, but she hoped he was there soon. She didn't want to tell Onyx about the Overlord until she was sure it was a real threat but she wanted to talk to someone. Please Lance, get here soon. Get my son to me.

So Ailsa sat at a table and waited.

When Ailsa heard Yi-Shioon fall she winched and looked over at him. "That looked like it hurt.."

That unstable reaction, look and sound caused onyx to snap her attention in his direction. When her brain registered what was happening she gasped.

                    WHAM

Oni flinched as she shut her eyes briefly. Left eye then right eye she reopened them. Peering for moment onyx wore the face of sympathetic pain. He looked just so funny laid out like a starfish on her floor. She pressed her plump pout together trying to stunt her laughter. It was growing and traveling from her stomach to her throat. When she opened up her mouth to ask if he was alright she burst out into laughter.

"Oh my- ha! Shioon! HAAAAHAH!!! Are you okay?" how sincere did she sound right about now. This little moment had done well to swing her back towards the mood she had been in.

Once back Jenica would show Khoi to his own room. It was a room down on the third floor beside her own. Since today was given to her as a day off, she left to go find the bookstore. She needed an English to Chinese dictionary!!!
User Image Vela's hair raised on end as she felt the oncoming of a sneeze creeping up her spine. With a quick thought she changed her power to ice fully as the sneeze came on. "Ahchoo" She sneezed out as tiny ice crystals appeared around her in a quick puff of snow that lingered in the air for a moment before falling all around her chilled form. She still didn't have a great amount of control over the power leaking from her body.

"I hope I'm not getting a fever." She sighed out to herself as the snow quickly began to melt on the floor. The light dusting wouldn't leave a puddle or stain the floor if anyone cared if it did or not. Well other than Onyx that is. The snow that fell onto her stuck around to fall off like a veil as she moved to the next available seat at the bar.

She giggled lightly, "I ment permission to take him the food that you cooked" She smiled at Oynx, then shut her eyes for a moment. "I have heard and seen people not give the grown up child of their own, plus he is drunk..he may of fallen asleep, hopefully he will wake up for me"

The girl opened her shining blue-grey hues, watching over Oynx's face. Despite all the bad, she was here, in a home. A place she could safely call a home, where pressure was not on her shoulders. Trying to out do others, just for a hand out. For a recognition, for some praise. After patching things up with Heiden, Rini really was ready and waiting for her life to continue to unfold. Or was it that her life was finally beginning? She was free of so many situations that she seemed to get herself out of.

"I can not wait to see what you cooked, can I help with anything or are you about done?
"

Boom.

She turned with Oynx to see Shioon upon the floor. She wondered if he was alright, and what had happened with him to have him on the ground. He seemed to be okay as he walked over and sat at the bar though.

Onyx's eye's flicked to Khoi and then jumped off of him only to snap back to him in a double take.

                    "Xiǎo yú" She exclaimed
                    Little Fish!

                    "Kànzhe nǐ!!!"
                    Look at you!!!"

Wow he looked completely different. His skin was clean and gorgeous in color it was almost as if he had a copper sheen to his skin. The kind of accent that a lot of females would pay excellent coin/time/resources to have. His fresh and modern (*coughcleancough*) clothing did wonders for him. He was such a good look for a young man his age. It blew Onyx away to be frank. Perhaps a little hair cut or a trim and his nails trimmed up and he'd be set.

                    "Nǐ qīnglǐ Liánghǎo, Háizi"
                    You clean up good, kid

"Tīng, Wǒ zài zuò wǎnfàn, nǐ xiǎng yào yīxiē tèbié de dōngxī?"
Listen, I'm making dinner do you want something special?

Her head shifted slightly to Ailsa. She was sitting there and also noticed Shioon, not that he could be missed.
"Hey Ailsa, when you get a chance can you please show Shioon to a room? Thanks"

Next her attention went to Rini
"I know what you meant. You still don't need permission." oni crinkled her nose but shook her head. "No, no. I've got everything. It's been a while since I have cooked anything for a large sum of people."

Lastly her head moved to Vela. She smiled lightly and wondered if she would be staying for food and relaxation as well. Hopefully. The more the merrier...usually. Her hand came up to catch remnants of the light dusting of snow. Very interesting. Now Vela had her attention. What was she exactly? Oni would refrain from peering into her to find out the answer and instead find out the normal way.
"Uh oh. Let's hope not! I can make you a tea to help with that just in case?"
User Image Vela looked to onyx as she spoke. Her catching the snow was noted but the thoughts as to clearing up the tiny mess faded in an instant. "Tea? Sure a cup of worm tea would do wonders to keep me from getting the chills as it were." She said softly and let the magic flow slowly around her form. Snow flakes would flicker into existence long enough to be seen before evaporating into nothingness.

Vela's power was growing along with her control over yet the growth was much faster than the control in retrospect. Her thoughts were back at the home wondering if she would become unstable like her family members. She shook the thoughts from her head and forced the power down to only let out a slightly chill breeze from her body. "Maybe also a room or space on board this ship where I can release some of my magical stock. That is if you don't mind some minor blasts every now and then. I wouldn't want to just be blasting magic into the air without permission. That would be rude." She finished a a slight hopeful gleam in her eyes.
