Current location: Stardust Tavern

Mood/thoughts:Quiet.

~OOC: Sorry for the late response. I was working out in the yard, playing tree remover. lol

Darriyah glanced up as soon as she heard a female's voice. She smiled warmly as she spoke, her Romanian accent heavy. "Ice water if you please for now." she smiled.
** no worries at all; been sleeping most of today so far >__> **

"That'd be wonderful, on both accounts," Kougre swiftly responded, giving Ry a stare that stated something like You're not much better off either, you drowned rat before turning back to the hostess. "I just hope it's not too much trouble, is all." With that and her best smile, she turned to Ry before slipping off to the room to 'freshen up', stating "Now, you try to stay out of trouble. I'll be back before too long, alright?" Internally, Ko swore that woman was more of a child than an adult... whatever she happened to be.

A good while later, Ko returned, looking quite a bit better for the wear as compared to before. Unfortunately (for some), the scarf and boots had to go due to it still being soaking wet, which left her generous chest more exposed than she preferred and her feet pattering across bare floor. There was another guest here, it seemed, but for the moment Kougre ignored her, opting instead to seat herself at one of the tables, more or less glad just to sit down for the time being. Ry was no doubt somewhere around here, observing every nook and cranny that she could get a peek at; just long as she wasn't trying to roam back into the employee's-only section, she should be alright.

Kougre's stare is returned only with the usual flat, lidded gaze, as if nonchalantly brushing off her drenched companion's indignation as unphasing as ever. Really, one would think that Ko would know by now that dirty looks and snide remarks rolled off of Ry just as smoothly as the rainfall that'd soaked the both of them right to the bone. Though apparently not, as Kougre proceeds to chide her as if she were a misbehaving child. The chesty woman was the one always causing all the commotion, after all. Tsk. And honestly, she found herself wholly unsurprised that Ko's first order of business is, once more, leaving her behind while she goes and undresses. Again.

But no, seriously. In Kougre's temporary absence Ry takes the opportunity to attend to her own sogginess, grabbing up the second towel that the feline proprietor had set out for them from the bar counter and proceeding to work on drying her matted, dripping hair, casting a gracious glance in the neko's direction and offering a curt but sincere, "Thank you."

Thankfully, Ry's hair wasn't nearly as long as her travelling partner's, and is thusly much less of a hastle to deal with. And thinking about it, she hasn't the foggiest idea how Kougre could have tolerated what must have been the terribly unpleasant feeling of soaking, stringy strands of hair sticking to her back. Without much regard for how she'd look after the fact, she rubs the towel unceremoniously back and forth over her head, simply wishing to stop the dripping. Though while she does so, she can't help but spare another look in the proprietor's direction. She'd come across some interesting people before... but this girl had the ears and tail of, wait, what was the creature called again? Unfortunately, Ry doesn't seem to realize that she's staring as she finishes with her hair and basically leaves the towel draped over her head, setting the outer garments she'd removed outside on one of the bar stools and beginning to slip off a few more of them, apparently lacking the concern for privacy that her friend possessed.

When Kougre returned, she'd find the girl in far less clothing than she'd likely ever seen her, stripped down to all but a loose tanktop that exposed her midriff, a pair of frayed and faded knee-pants, and of course her boots. Add to the picture that she'd taken now to drying off the rest of her dripping body... why, she actually looked feminine for once. Of course, it's a safe bet that all eyes would instead be on the milky-haired girl, given her considerable... assets. Really, there were times when she'd half a mind to say something to Ko about it. But ultimately she just follows her with her gaze, sparing a brief glance to the woman who'd arrived shortly after they had before returning her attentions to Kougre. "...barefoot again?" Honestly. The woman seemed to jump on every opportunity to discard her footwear.

Ko simply stared back at the other woman, an annoyed twitch pulling at the corners of her mouth. At least she had taken to discarding all of the unnecessary layers for once, which stacked up on the table they were both at like a small mountain - this actually affirmed that, yes, Ry had something besides clothing to hold her together, and it was giving her a few ideas... did that promise of abstinence she made extend to Ry as well? Or would she even notice?

It was actually fairly odd to see her like this, especially in the open; then again, aside from the need to cover as much of herself as possible, Ry didn't generally give two hoots about what anyone else was thinking, though that did make Ko wonder why she was so intent on doing that. Even stranger was the fact that she seemed more intent upon wondering why Kougre was out of her shoes again. Sometimes, this woman's mind confused even her...

"They were soaked," Ko quietly moaned, as if it was the last thing she ever wanted to deal with, "so I left them by the heater in our room. Some of us have half a mind not to go sloshing about in footwear that's become waterlogged, y'know. That's just... bleah." She even stuck her tongue out and made the face - the whole 'yuck' deal. She hadn't even taken a shower yet... how did that woman live with herself? Ko was partially convinced that Ry was some sort of alien sent here to observe humans or something, like the plot from one of those silly science-fiction movies she'd snuck into a theater to see some number of years ago.

"Anyhow, at least I don't have to worry about taking a department's worth of stuff off just to take a breather... how in the hell you even breathe under all that is beyond me." Kougre really could be a drama queen when she wanted to. Sighing, she leaned back in the chair, her head not even clearing the rest as she idly mused at the ceiling for a moment, then turned to track down that waitress again. "Ma'am? if you'd be so kind as to whip up a gin on the rocks, I'd be very grateful," she ordered, her voice sounding a bit weary as she added with a smile "And thank you for the hospitality so far. Hard to find good people anymore." For once, she was being sincere - generally, such comments were mostly reserved for when she wanted to hit on someone, but this time she was just a bit winded from the week's journey.

Well it isn't as though Ry piled on the layers like an eskimo. True, she commonly tends to wear clothes that are more, well, conservative... but that only really entails articles that generally have enough to them to decently cover her, and that's mostly because she simply likes the comfort of the aforementioned apparel. What she'd removed so far wasn't quite enough to constitute Kougre's exaggerations; the woman was making mountains out of molehills. Bad pun. In actuality, the pile of clothes included but a faded leather longcoat, lengthy, mildly frayed wintry scarf, form-fitting turtleneck, and a pair of full-length fingerless gloves. Well, alright. So it was more than most people would reguarly wear. But still.

Satisfied that she'd dried herself to an acceptable degree -- she certainly wasn't as sensitive to being a little damp as her companion seemed to be -- she tosses the towel aside onto the bar stool upon which she'd dumped her coat and scarf a few minutes beforehand and rakes her fingers through her, by now, thoroughly disheveled ash-blond hair... until she catches the look Kougre was giving her. She recognized that look; she'd seen it before. Or at least, she thought she had. But it wouldn't make sense for her to stare at Ry like that. So she dismisses the silliness of the thought and instead slides over to join the other woman at the table. Besides, she could have just as easily been gawking at the ridiculous state of Ry's shaggy hair.

And then Kougre gave her the raspberry. The RASPBERRY! And she accused her of being childlike? Hah. Drawing unusually close, Ry leans in to bring her face level with Kougre's -- which unfortunately results in giving the seated girl a rather... gratuitous view down Ry's tanktop -- a flat expression on her face as she replies simply and dryly, "They're waterproof." Referring, of course, to her own footwear. They were work-boots, after all. Or something closely similar, anyway.

"And it isn't that much." she adds plainly in her perpetually passionless tone after another moment, swiveling on her heel and lowering herself down into the chair adjacent to Kougre's. She wanted to include some follow-up remark about how it was Ko who didn't wear enough clothing rather than herself wearing too much, but she leaves it at that and again takes to messing with her hair, for all the good it would do her.

Completely over her head. Right on schedule... Go figure, though, as Kougre wasn't exactly expecting her to get it. The woman seemed to be incompetent about the most basic things at times, but she was at least comfortably quiet for the most part. But the way she made the statement about her own footwear gave Ko a... rather pleasant view beneath the other woman's shirt, enough so that she she had to force her eyes up to meet her companion's. Her heartbeat pounded a few times faster for just a moment, until she realized it was just the dame's way of making a point. Damn these stupid hormones; sometimes they were more trouble than they were worth. At least she managed to keep from stammering upon her respite of "Yeah, and I bet you could stomp across a minefield in them and not take a hit. Seriously, those things are freakin' tanks. And..."

Why she paused was anyone's guess - maybe the oxygen to her brain was temporarily cut off and she had to remember to breathe again - but that void lasted only a moment before she continued, a twinge of pain in her voice "And you look good... without all that stuff on ya..." There, she admitted that; could we please move along, alright? Pregnant silence stretched longer than it should have before Kougre finally broke it with a deep sigh, throwing her head back to send waves of platinum shimmering over the chair as she quietly proclaimed in what almost passed for a whisper "I just don't get you sometimes." Maybe she was speaking for both of them when she said that - possibly without knowing it - but it seemed to strike a cord inside her, moreso than usual.

Again, why was she following this woman around, and why had Ko made a commitment to contain something that she had rarely, if ever, previously controlled with much of any success? Something more than physical attraction held them together, a bond that couldn't be seen, but was there nevertheless. Not love, at least not in the modern accepted sense of the word - that was far and above from Ko's ability to understand and reciprocate - but something deeper than just simple interest. Nor wasn't carnal, as Ry almost never did anything like what she'd just done, and when she did it was to make a point. Somehow, she knew it was more than that... there was something tying them together, something similar but long-forgotten in the woman that could have been a mirror-image of herself... but what?

Not knowing was the most frustrating part, and certainly best saved for times when she could afford deeper reflection. So instead of trying to pry open the mysteries of the universe, Ko did something that she was good at - ignoring the problem until it became relevant again. Maybe not the smartest thing, but she was sure that Ry wasn't in the mood to discuss philosophy, so it was likely best for both of them to just quit thinking about it until they were in a more private setting. Aiming to distract herself, Ko looked about the room, admiring the simple but appealing interior. "Hmm... I think I'm already starting to like this place," she mused, hoping that Ry was easily distracted like she usually was.

Kougre's snide little remark about battletank boots goes unanswered, Ry still somewhat preoccupied with fiddling with her hair to the point where it at least wouldn't look like she had a frizzy animal pelt on her head. If she still couldn't get it under control by later that night, she might dare begin to entertain the notion of getting Ko to lend to her a hand. But only as an absolute last resort, of course. Although, surely that would only serve to fluster the other woman still further -- it was enough already that Ry had half-stripped and flaunted, albeit unintentionally, in plain view, but sitting alone in a room with Ko brushing her hair like some kind of demented sleep-over gone wrong? No doubt that would just be pushing it over the edge. Like some bad teenage movie.

Regardless, Ry's mind isn't left to wander for much longer, the girl taken slightly aback by Kougre's unexpected admission. Did she just... compliment her? That was decidedly something that had never happened before, and for a moment, the normally dull golden hue of her eyes briefly reflects her mild surprise as she wonders just what exactly had spurred that remark to leave Kougre's rosy lips. Heaven help her, she was still completely oblivious as to the circumstances of her companion's flustered disposition.

Granted, even if she'd any idea as to the thoughts flooding Ko's mind at this very moment, she'd likely remain just as clueless. Truth be told, she hadn't spent nearly as much time thinking about their... 'unique' situation or its ambiguous nature as her present company apparently has. However, it was true that it was probably for the best to leave the issue be for the time being, as poor Kougre would likely only be disappointed if she knew that the woman she'd been following and wasting so much time stewing over hadn't really given the issue much of a second thought. Though there was something that dissuaded Ry from rejecting the silvery-haired girl's company as she inclined to do with the majority of the human population... even though said girl was prone to certain, well, habits that Ry wasn't particularly fond of. Yet still she hadn't pushed her away. Funny, that. Either way, it was beyond her understanding, and she was more of a 'in the now' kind of person as opposed to dwelling in the past.

"Kougre..." she ventures tentatively in the midst of the awkward -- well awkward for Ko, at least -- silence, cocking her head in mild curiosity. The look on her friend's face made it plainly obvious, even to Ry, that something was on her mind. But Ko's abrupt admiration of the establishment puts an end to that, and after a tenure of pensive silence she responds with an agreeable, "It does seem pleasant."

Thank heavens the nigh-unwarranted feelings died down after a few minutes of taking her eyes off Ry. Still, even as she tried to empty her mind, as much as she wanted to her thoughts kept coming back to why she was here, with this woman, when she could be off having fun elsewhere. And Ko's definition of 'fun' generally included the kind that was done without clothing. But she had a promise - a binding, unwritten contract, one which she couldn't very well break in good conscience and not feel guilty about it. Then again, maybe there was a way around that...

Groaning under her breath, Ko returned to looking around the environs, trying to think like Ry and distract herself with the simplistic beauty around her. Unfortunately, the Ache was starting again - that feeling that settled in whenever she hadn't had her 'fun' for a while. And she knew deep down that, promise or no promise, it was only going to get worse, though for now it was only a slight itch on her stomach that she couldn't scratch away. Of course, going overboard wasn't an option either, as that had an entirely different set of consequences, but she had ways to keep that from happening. Not getting too attached to anyone was part of that, hence why her current situation was even more peculiar.

Sighing again, she glanced over towards Ry, noticing that she was still absentmindedly fiddled with her hair. Poor thing; her head looked like there was an insane pack of Tribbles trying to eat her brain; scratch that - those things had better 'dos than she did at the moment. Strands were going this way and that, tangled with each other like a psychotic, snow-laden bird's nest, with no rhyme or reason despite her best efforts. Which gave Ko an idea...

"Um... hey, you want... help with that?" Ko asked, somehow managing not to laugh at the sight before her - which was quite a feat, given the extent of the damage. If only Ry could see herself in a mirror right now... "I'm pretty handy with a comb, y'know..." she added, playfully stroking a lock that had fallen over her front. That spit of still-damp shocks Ry called hair was nothing, given how much Ko had to sift through whenever she tended to her own; It was keeping her stupid urges under control that she might real problems with. If the direct approach wasn't going to work, then this might be a chance to at least get closer to her companion, if not finally get her to open up after so much silence.

Aria smiled as she set the ice water on the coaster infront of the lady at the bar. Grabbing another glass she made the gin on the rocks and started towards the white haired woman and her companion. "Here you go, The name is Aria, I'm glad you like it here so far, if you need anything just call me." the neko set a coaster on the table followed by the glass. "before i forget, here is your room key."She slid the key gently on the table."If you would like i can wash and dry your clothes so they don't mildew, i have to wash some towles anyways" She offered as she reached the bar and grabbed a bottled water from the cooler under the counter.

The neko's ears twitched as she remembered the lady at the bar. "How are you tonight?" She asked with a warm smile on her face. The storm seemed to only get worse as the rain started to fall hevier she felt sleepy. Rain always seemed to have that effect on her.

Well gosh, Ko... don't make it sound like she's some oblivious child with ADHD... She's just a mildly oblivious adult with a simplistic outlook on the world. A simple and, er, appreciative outlook that disregards the human element. There is a difference, tsk tsk. Though truthfully, if Ry knew the full extent of the trouble she was apparently causing her companion with this strange... arrangement, she might be inclined to simply cut the other woman loose. She certainly wouldn't want Ko to suffer on her behalf, even if that is a bit hypocritical given that she isn't exactly making much of an effort to make their 'friendship', if one could call it that, any easier on her sultry counterpart. Kougre had made it plentifully clear on several occasions how Ry's mannerisms and eccentricities were sometimes a real nuisance. It was a wonder that she'd accompanied her this long.

Her eyes meet with Kougre's moments before the other woman offers her assistance. Funny how often the two women's thoughts and musings crossed similar paths. Although it's a safe bet neither of them would find the fact too terribly amusing if they were to find out. Lord knows Ry certainly wouldn't want to be in Ko's head, of all people. The tone of Kougre's voice, however, calls into question her sincerity, earning her a slightly hardened stare, lidded golden eyes peering out at the woman skeptically from beneath damp and tangled fringes of ashen blond. Was Ko making fun of her? While it really wasn't all that uncommon for her to tease Ry from time to time... outright laughing at her was a differently matter altogether. Nevermind that right now, the buxom woman wasn't looking much better herself.

Kougre's follow-up, however, seemed to redeem her some in her companion's eyes, which subsequently softened from their dagger-esque appearance. And honestly, after a few moments spent in contemplation, and another raking of her fingers through her hair, she actually starts to consider accepting the offer for assistance. She could probably suppress her aversion to being touched for just long enough to get her hair under control. She could manage that. Probably. She's just about to open her mouth to respond when all of it suddenly resolves itself when Aria returns and extends her hospitality.

Ry would politely incline her head in an acknowledging nod upon the neko's introduction. She'd let Kougre hang onto the key; she would most likely be the one doing the most wandering around anyway. Regarding the condition of their clothes, she again bows her head graciously, reciprocating quietly, "We would appreciate it." She considers requesting something to drink, but ends up deciding that she isn't actually all that thirsty. She does, however, sneak in another gander at their hostess. A girl with cat features; it was the darndest thing.

Dammit, ofallthetimes-- For the briefest of heartbeats, Ko looked like she was on the verge of a hissy-fit of epic proportions, but restrained herself in light that her drink had finally come and put on a grin, hiding her irritation at being interrupted. Unfortunately, the marks on her body did the work for her, growing a few widths from their original hair-wide size to the size of cracks in a stain-glass window, stretching for a moment down her arm before immediately retreating - albeit slower than before. Thankfully, her spaz!attack was covered by the need to make a round of introductions. "Thank you kindly, Ms. Aria. I am Kougre, but Ko works just as well. And my traveling partner here is Ry."

She motioned with a lithe sweep of one hand towards the golden-eyed female, her other free to reach for the booze to take it to her lips for a generous sip. The drink burned on the way down - just the way she liked it to, as weak booze was next to damnation in her mind. Besides that, it took the edge off of her dealings with Ry; as long as she didn't get sloshed (which was harder than it sounds), the alcohol simmered what discontents she might have. Ko took her time with this one, laying the glass back down on the table but remaining silent, as the moment had already fled. She looked rather... tired, of all things, exhausted and weary, but trying her best to hide it.

The Ache was another thing, though; as her eyes passed towards the other woman, a tiny, almost unnoticed tug pulled at her, but she glanced away before anything else came to mind. Maybe she could keep it at bay by entertaining fantasies for a while, but somehow she doubted that would last forever. Sooner or later, something was going to break, but thankfully not for a while. Moving back to stare at the ceiling once more, she idly took another sip, letting the bourbon fuzzy her mind a little more with each drink. Ko had to figure something out, before she went mad, or pissed Ry off by breaking the commitment she'd sworn to.

One of the first things that Ry noticed, ironic as that is given how frequently she comes across as apathetic and unobservant, was the change in Kougre's tattoo-like markings, though it was subtle enough to escape the attention of those who didn't know what to look for. She'd seen it a few times before, and had garnered a fairly decent understanding of what it implied. She hadn't come right out and asked Kougre about it, but she was certain that she had the right idea. Or one close enough to it, given the circumstances under which she's noticed the change occurring in the past. The only problem was, she hadn't the first idea as to what had just frustrated her travelling companion. Well, whatever it was, Ko was determined to hide it and keep up appearances for the sake of manners. Which was understandable; the two of them certainly wouldn't want to make a bad first impression on Aria should it turn out that they end up staying here for any extended period of time.

Upon Kougre's introduction of the both of them, she would offer their feline hostess a dainty little wave of her hand. Honestly, she was somewhat relieved that Ko didn't guzzle down her drink the way she had at the last place they'd deigned to visit. Cripes that had been, well, terribly unattractive. It most certainly didn't suit the classy, elegant persona that her friend seemed to favor projecting. Granted, even with the time they've spent together thus far, Ry still hadn't really managed to get a good feel for what Kougre's honest self might be like. Well... aside from a certain aspect that she finds... quite distasteful. But she had to give the woman credit where credit was due; she hadn't indulged in said distastefulness since they'd set out -- something that actually surprised her a bit.

Though speaking of Kougre, she really did look miserable. Or rather, her weather-stained appearance did. Turning to regard Aria, she ventures a half-interested, "Is there someplace we could wash up?" She might not be quite as vain as Ko, but even Ry would prefer not to remain grimy and dank for the rest of the night.
