Dante glanced up, looking over the selection. Something to drink? He really shouldn't. But he should...-- god, he should. he just wasn't sure what, or how much. He swallowed, bringing a hand up to his forehead. "How about watering down some whiskey? And a lemon?" He asked.

He might as well try it. It might actually turn out nice. He'd seen people drink it... meant it was at least... well... drinkable. He glanced over the shelves, pointing out the right battle. "The one. Jameson."

"...Whiskey?" Saorla turned to look where he'd pointed, spotting the brand of whiskey he'd requested. It was sort of strong, and she wasn't sure how well Dante would be able to handle it, but the fae pulled it down nonetheless. She wasn't entirely sure how to water it down, so she decided filling a glass with ice was the best bet, so that was what she did. "Good luck~" She hummed once the whiskey had been poured into the glass and she'd stuck a lemon slice on the edge. He didn't even like red wine which was nothing compared to this, and Saorla was sort of curious to see how he'd react. She set it down for him, smiling a bit.

"It's very easy, Saorla. Just watch me!"

Two nearly identical figures stood just past the water's edge, though one lingered more in the shallower part than the other, whom had swam out deep enough that the water rose all the way up to her chest. Ruairi smiled and leaned back, letting her legs come up so that she floated right on the surface of the gentle waves. Her eyes slowly closed for a moment, her wild auburn curls spreading out over the surface of the water. "You merely have to control your breathing... It's that simple." One sky blue eye opened to study her sister, who still looked unsure.

"And it's fun, too~!" Ruairi was closing her eye again almost as soon as she'd opened it, laughing aloud as a particularly large wave lifted her high up before dipping her back down once it had past. Saorla had flitted right away before it could reach her and knock her over, though she laughed the whole time as well.

"What if I can't stay afloat? I don't want to go underwater!" Cautiously, the younger fae stepped back out into the ocean, wading in until she was waist-deep. She let herself slip down farther under the surface until it rose up to her chin, her own long hair swirling around her as it soaked up the water. Saorla knew she could try it, at least... Ruairi wouldn't tell her something that didn't work, right? Still being careful, the younger of the two let herself sink back, pulling her legs up so that she was completely parallel with the ocean's surface.

Okay... This wasn't so bad. And the water felt nice, as did the heated summer air that surrounded them. Saorla blew out her breath slowly and closed her eyes, trying to follow Ruairi's instructions on how to stay afloat. It worked for a few moments- until a large-ish wave rolled by. It felt pretty fun, getting lifted up into the air a little- it was sort of like a being on a roller coaster, but not as terrifying. But as soon as it moved past and Saorla dipped back down, she didn't stay on the surface. She just kept sinking.

She ended up submerging completely, holding her breath before she pushed back up to the surface. Ruairi was already laughing, standing back up straight as well. "You should have seen your face!" She teased, a wide, playful grin on her own face- the same face that they both shared. Saorla's own expression didn't mirror her sister's, though. She huffed indignantly while she blinked the salt water out of her eyes, brushing away the heavy strands of hair that stuck to her shoulders and neck. That so wasn't funny at all!

Okay, maybe it was. But Saorla was too stubborn to admit it- aloud or through the mental connection they shared.

"Hmph." Was the only reply she gave Ruairi, who merely grinned and went right back to floating. Saorla dragged herself back towards a shallower area of the water, choosing to stay there where she knew she could escape quickly enough if a large wave came back around.

Hide had been starved, but he had not felt like being around even the people he had started to care about recently, even though it was beyond reasons of probably desiring to tear their throats out. It was still baffling strange to think that these people had been strangers, and some of them still seemed strangers in a lot of ways, but he had developed a fondness for all of them. Every now and then it got to him and he withdrew into himself like a hermit crab, and still with other strangers he could tear their throats out and feel absolutely nothing-nothing more than the annoyance that their blood had stained a nice shirt. Yet, despite the lack of feelings towards strangers in particular, he did feel guilty when he started to think about their friends and family. It was one thing he had had to disconnect himself from in the past. Now it was just easier to prey on sharks and other fishes.

He had finally gotten that giant tuna he had been after the last time as he swam through the water! A satisfaction surrounded him, and he almost seemed to glow after his hunger had been sated. He had stayed submerged in the darkness of the ocean, watching other life happen around him and contemplating his thoughts and feelings, but when enough was enough, the daemon decided to swim towards shore, and he did so at a rapid pace. As tired as his muscles became, he still wanted to be on land again, and flying always seemed to use more energy and he would be hungry again in no time.

Finally approaching shore, he sensed a presence he was familiar with, and quickly became excited when he recognized that the presence was Saorla. But there was another presence nearby, and it confused him. He slowed his swimming down, and finding a spot between Ruairi and Saorla, his Japanese head popped out of the water, awash in confusion. For a minute Hideki looked between the two of them, completely silent. He rose a hand to rub at the side of his face in question. “Um, Saorla?” He asked quizzically. “Why are there two of you?” He was quiet for another moment, but the only other question that came to mind: “Have you been playing with your magic?” His mouth sank below the water as he hid it, slightly embarrassed that there was two of the person he liked so much in the same place.

Of all the things the pair had expected to see while swimming around in the ocean that day, Hideki popping out of the water between them was the very last thing on that list. The moment those two pairs of blue eyes settled on him after he spoke to Saorla, they both nearly jumped out of their skin. Ruairi let herself sink down from where she'd been floating on the waves, her bare feet touching the sand under her a moment later, and Saorla let out a little laugh once she realized who it was, her heart still racing. "There isn't two of me... Technically." She answered, laughing a bit more. "This is my twin sister, Ruairi~" The younger of the two grinned at her sister after she introduced her, watching as Ruairi waded over to where she stood in the shallower part of the water.

"Hello~" Ruairi greeted, studying him curiously. She'd seen him many times through her sister's thoughts, but this was the first time she'd ever actually met him in person. And it was definitely an interesting way to meet, for sure. She smiled a bit shyly at the Japanese man, an identical smile to the one that was plastered on Saorla's face. And standing side by side, it was hard to tell them apart. "It's nice to finally meet you. I've heard a lot about you... Mostly that your baking is to die for." She grinned outright at Saorla, whose cheeks were beginning to turn a light shade of red.

"So..." Saorla decided to change that subject, and she raised an eyebrow, curious. "Where did you come from just now?" She hadn't been paying attention to too much else, but she was certain he hadn't come from the direction of the bar, and one glance at Ruairi told her that her sister hadn't seen him come from there, either. Which meant that he'd been out in the far ocean... And that hardly made sense to either of them.

Hide didn’t take long to adjust to the situation, but being around two identical females he was attracted to had not happened in his existence… Or at least not at such a temptingly close distance! His eyes hovered just above the water, looking confused beyond the fact that they were twins. He could easily tell them apart from the way they were acting, but he was still overwhelmed by an unexpected presence, and was feeling a little nervous.

“I’m glad you like my baking… I’d always be happy to make you two anything!” He chimed in quickly. When his previous whereabouts were questioned, he just pointed from the direction he thought he had come from and stared at them both. “I was just out grabbing a bit to eat. Do you two like sushi? I would love to make you some!"

Out grabbing a bite to eat? What was he eating, sharks? Saorla was the first to gaze out where Hideki had pointed, way out in the ocean. Unless there was some sort restaurant on the ocean floor close by, she assumed that he was hunting fish. Either one was plausible, really, in this world anyways. "I might have to take you up on that, sometime soon! Saorla really doesn't like to share~" Ruairi joked- she'd had yet to try anything Hideki had baked. Between keeping busy with her own little hobby and trying to find time to come around, any potential leftovers were always gone. And it wasn't always Saorla who ate the baked goods, either, since customers came and went regularly. But it was fun to tease her, anyways.

"Sushi?" Saorla spoke next, looking a little guilty. She and her sister both were vegetarians- and not by choice, either- but Hideki looked so eager, she hated having to turn him down. It would be the first time she'd had to refuse anything he'd offered to make, too. "Unless there's some sort of vegetarian, no-meat version, we'll have to pass on that..." Hell, for all either of them knew, there WAS a vegetarian version of sushi. Neither twin knew how that would taste, though. Ruairi figured she would try it if there was such a thing, but Saorla had a notorious sweet tooth- it was rare that she ate foods that didn't have some sort of fruit in them, and she would be wary either way.

"There's a way to do that, isn't there? Make it without fish? If not... We could always be the first." That was Ruairi's forte, after all. Messing around with recipes until she found something that worked, though she stuck to medicines rather than actual food. It couldn't be too different, though, and it was surely a lot safer!

Dwelling on the past wasn't going to help him right now. Now was trying to figure out wither or not he could stand to be anywhere else right now. Foreign was not what he needed right now. He needed comfort... or some kind. He wasn't hurting, per say. He just felt numb. Not a break for months; he'd nearly cracked. Finally someone must have noticed; must have talked to his dad, because here he was, sitting quietly at the empty bar two in the morning, probably right before the place was to close.

It was quiet; the staff must have been busy doing something. There was a call button, but he didn't even try it. Right now, the peace settling over the building was enough for him. On hand laid as if permanent over his nose and mouth, cupping it in a perch as the other laid its weight against the bar counter, keeping his steady as a rock. His eyes were sunken in and tired, his shoulders relaxed, and yet he seemed absolutely crawling with ants. He was ready to run a marathon, yet too tired to get up and grab anything-- food, a drink. Maybe he was being polite? Afraid to break a rule or step out of line? Or maybe he just found himself far too comfortable like this.

Either way, here he was, and here he would stay.

The past few months had been even slower than before. Saorla supposed it was due to the winter season. The weather wasn't exactly cold, per se, but people tended to frequent the beachfront more during the summer months. Spring was quickly arriving though, and she hoped that meant that people would start to flock in, as well. She hadn't seen any of the friends she'd made at the start, either. No Hideki, no Uriel, no Dante. And she missed them...

So when she finally got herself ready and wandered downstairs, much later than normal, she was both surprised and happy to see that familiar face- even if he did look beyond depressed. Saorla's smile was short lived once she got a better look at the blonde, the corners of her lips pulling right down into a frown. "Long time no see, stranger..." The fae attempted, sounding as cheerful as possible.

A creek, a voice, and Dante's eyes were wide, latched right onto Saorla. He stared long and hard at her, taking in her hands, waist, possible bulges where weapons could have been hiding, and finally... he looked right away in a momentary relief. what was he doing? He shouldn't be suspecting this woman of being an assassin in disguise. Or could she be...? She was a woman, after all.

He shook the thought off and took a deep breath, finally dropping his hand from his face and laying that arm along the counter just like the other. "Scotch... please," he said gently.

Oh... There was absolutely no light in his eyes when he finally looked up at her- or rather, looked her over. Saorla had expected that he would at least be a little happy to see her, but obviously, she'd been wrong. Wishful thinking... It seemed that whatever had kept Dante away for so long hadn't been very enjoyable. "A scotch it is, then..." She answered, turning to reach for the alcohol and and glass to pour it into. It didn't take her very long to prepare it at all, and she set it down before him in no time. "Can I get you anything to eat, too?" Dante certainly looked like he could use it... Worry lined Saorla's features while she waited for his answer, leaning back against the bar counter.

Dante eyed the glass before him for a moment, then nodded, almost looking as sheepish as a child. "Yeah, if you could. Thank you." He said softly, picking up the glass and bringing it to his lips. He could already smell it. Over the past few months he had certainly forced himself into getting used to the flavor of this stuff. It helped a bit. Got him to sleep, at least.

"Business hasn't picked up any. How do you even pay rent?" He asked, playing with the glass in his hand just before taking a sip and laying it aside.

It was never too smart to cross a bunch of Mexican gang members, but luckily immortality saved him for, ah, what was it now? Oh, he had lost count of how many times he had pissed off gangs and they creatively tried to dispose of his body after they thought they had killed him. His greatest triumph in these matters was actually convincing them that he was dead, and he would be inwardly be laughing when it was some new kid in the gang who panicked after the "killing," thinking HIde was only human and Hide had to sit up and lecture him about the wrong doings and the wayward path they had taken in life, only to be killed again. Eventually he would give up and just fall asleep while they did this or that. It was actually kind of fun. Well, besides the pain and the time it took to heal.

Apparently the bullet he had taken to the head this last time while he was drinking in a new town in a new place had put him into a deep slumber, and he had waken up tied up, wrapped in plastic bags and buried in a shallow grave somewhere in a wooded area. After waking up and wriggling free of the plastic and rope, he had clawed his way up to the surface, only to recognize the scent of the area.

Being weak with hunger and looking a tad gaunt, he stumbled towards the aromas of the familiar Solas. Comfort was needed. A real bed and real food. He still had no idea how long he had been out. When he finally managed to get to the door, he simply opened the door and walked in, looking a lot confused and bright eyed. He tilted his head and blinked at Dante and Saorla. He was happy to see the moody man and the beautiful fae. He was a little excited to see them, but he was more hungry. "F-food?" He coughed a bit, feeling his throat was too dry, the first hint that he had been buried for longer than he suspected. As he moved, dirt spilled out of the legs of his pants and the sleeves of his shirt, and it obscured all but his golden gaze, which still pierced the shadows like a beacon.

"Sure thing." If she remembered correctly, Aidan had made spaghetti and bread the other night, and after flitting into the kitchen to check, her assumptions were correct. Saorla grabbed the huge bowl and brought it back out to the bar, popping the whole thing into the microwave to heat up. She might as well have something to eat, too. At Dante's question about how she was able to pay the rent for the place, she shrugged a bit. "The apartments make a decent amount of money, even when it's off season for the beach. Things are a little tight, usually, but we're not under yet!" And she hoped they wouldn't be.

It seemed that Dante wasn't the only familiar face she would be seeing today. Saorla had just put the bowl of spaghetti back into the microwave after stirring it around when the door opened, and she glanced up to see... Hideki. Covered in dirt and looking a little thinner than she remembered. And weak. She blinked, her expression growing even more worried. "Ahh, I'm reheating some spaghetti up, if you want that... It should be done soon." Oh... Unless... "Unless you need something more substantial...?" She quirked an eyebrow up, wondering if Hideki needed a couple blood packets to eat. He did look awfully drained...

the familiar scent of soil followed Hideki in. Dante's eyes hot over towards the man, and in an instant his hand was resting on his pistol. It took him a few moments to properly recognize the man as one of Saorla's friends; (her court welcome to him helped just a bit.)

He relaxed a bit, replacing his arm back onto the counter, his eyes lingering a moment longer than he meant before going back to Saorla. Oh, that scent was already killing him! His stomach did a flip, his mouth salivating. Two starving men, and one woman to try and fill the demand. Honestly, right now, he felt as if he could do just about anything for food; he was certain old dusty by the front door felt the same. "Yeah? that's good..." He murmured and pulled his messy blond hair out of his face with his fingers. His eyes rested on Saorla's face for the longest time, contemplative, wondering, just for a moment, how long she might have actually been here alone. The days must have been pretty boring. It seemed like such a foreign thought to him right now; the idea that a lazy life like this was possible.

She'd have that bowl back in the microwave for a second heat, and he wouldn't even think twice about it. Dante stood and captured the woman's hand in his own, gripping it firmly, but hardly in any way to hurt her. He needed her attention. He stared right into those blue eyes, far more steadily than he ever had. Of, the fear of women was hardly gone; he wasn't sure where this surge of bravery came from.

In a short movement he leaned over the counter and swooped her in closer, pressing her lips to hers just as his free hand came to hold her cheek--

A moment passed...

Another...

No, it wasn't doing it for him at all. He let her go and sat back down, looking away shiftily as he perched his chin on one of his hands again. "S-s-s-orry..." He cleared his throat, his toes curling in his shoes. Impulsive as always, but this time, maybe too far. "I just had to see."
