Casey Adams

Casey stopped Othello once she was in the middle of the arena. She slipped his reins over his neck and moved to his shoulder. She began stretching his left foreleg and then went to stretch the other three. Once she had finished, Casey moved to his left side by his girth and gripped the pommel with her left hand and stuck her foot into the stirrup. She hopped twice and swung her right leg over Othello's back and settled into the saddle. She inspected both stirrups and bent over to adjust her left one.
Casey gathered the reins and asked Othello for a walk. She saw Kurtis walk across the stable yard and into the house. Hm, I wonder what he's doing? Oh pay attention, the big championship is coming up! Her heart raced at the thought of winning the silver champion's cup. Oh I won't win... Casey averted her eyes from Kurtis's house and focused on her horse. She worked him at a trot and then into a canter. Staying in perfect position, Casey let Othello into a hand-gallop for a few seconds and slowed back to a trot and then a walk. Casey let him free walk while she planned out her jumping course. Once she had one in mind, she tightened the reins and cued Othello for the canter. She lead him over a simple one foot vertical for a warm up, and circled him over it several times before leading him to a two foot faux brick wall jump and flew over it.
Casey kept him at an even pace and continued the round. She made it to the last jump without any faults, but Othello ducked out at the last second, sending Casey over the jump without him. She landed on the ground with a thud. Ow... Oh well, our course was good besides that last jump. She got back up and dusted herself of before walking over to Othello. "Good boy! You were great!" She stroked his neck before mounting again. "Lets try again, shall we?" Othello bobbed his head, as if agreeing with her, causing Casey to giggle. "Haha! Alright. Lets go!" Casey circled Othello and moved him into a canter and readied herself for the jump Three... Two... One... now! On now, Casey launched herself into an elevated position to keep her balance. Although the feeling is short, it's one of Casey's favorites.
