Malevolent Muse

onyx2047

Leena had heard the sigh; the girl sounded frustrated. It was lucky for her that Leena didn't find frustration all too appealing. Leena wasn't the type to goad it on, but she didn't care enough to try to mitigate it either. Frustration often came out of an inability to handle a situation. People who were frustrated lacked power and the competence to manage it.

That was none of Leena's business to interfere. Leena was not that merciful.

For a moment, it seemed as if the interaction was over - but then, there was a cry for attention and the girl moved closer to her. Leena didn't even turn her head. An aggressive command for regard and a quick movement that minimized distance were barely precursors for a powerful fight. She anticipated the actions to be fairly innocuous, so she wasn't surprised when the girl simply moved to take the seat next to where Leena stood.

For whatever reason, the girl seemed calmer and more amiable than before. She wanted to keep talking. Why the little gothic, corset-wearing samurai-girl would want to continue something she was clearly aggravated about was beyond her, but Leena would accept it for now.

Leena only idled around for so long.

At the girl's next statement, the hunter slowly tilted her head back to look at her, the edges of Leena's lips curling slightly back to their natural smirking position. The girl presumed Leena had wanted to ask questions.

Assumptions could be dangerous.

She'd play along for now.

"All right," Leena murmured in acceptance, the innocence in her voice coating the amused tones underneath. Those violet eyes now seemed to be focused on the girl intently. "What questions should I be asking?"

Frustration came when one was inable to comprehend a person, place, thing, situation, ideal. Nothing more. The energy that came off of this one, damn, oni didn't even need to use her spark to feel the waves of righteousness. Weren't most hunters this way? Onyx didn't get her name and supposed it wouldn't matter in the end. The female opened her mouth, no respect to even look at her. Was this female not the one who addressed her first? Oni didn't have time for continuous rudeness, something she felt this girl seethed from the get go. It was correct in saying it was futile and oni had already lost interest. Her question required a more complex answer and one that frankly she ought to already know. She didn't have time or patience for horse s**t and coy little girl games. Instead onyx just reach over to grab a handful of beernuts from a bowl that sat upon the counter.
"never mind." she said flatly. Oni could move on easily forgotten and it would be the end.

The lackluster for even a drink also washed over her now. Onyx was just going to return to her room where she'd be able to read in peace. Maybe have a soak. Walking towards the elevator she reached out and pushed the button calling it forward. When it arrived and she stepped onto it she had been about to hit the fourth floor button when her eye's fell upon the B buttons. Yellow topaz eye's held within a curiosity that begged to be quenched. She pressed the second button deciding she'd work her way up. The door closed and she was gone once again.

The door opened and what oni stepped into made her golden eye's flirt with the allure this room had to offer. Brows slightly raised she stepped in further to see if it was empty...her peepers moved to the glass tank(s). The reflection of the dancing water, soft blue, flickered curious light shows upon her skin. This room was quite dim but incredibly tranquil. Oni liked fish, how could she not considering. A smile caused her full pout to thin a bit as she took a few steps closer. There were three different tanks that she'd note off the bat. One that seemed to hold community fish, one for tropical fish with its breath taking coral reef habitat, and another that had school fish in it. The other tanks she hadn't even gotten to yet. It would be to the school tank she'd go to first. The gorgeous lionfish could be found floating oh so delicate looking. It was of course anything but. While rarely fatal to humans, the venom they emitted would hurt like hell! One of oni's old crew mates touched on once. He was vomitting quite a bit. Still, it was gorgeous to watch. It's layered fins and tail, those feathery pectoral fins dancing, calling other fish closer. Clever fish. Onyx took a deep happy breath and silently marveled.

Narius was relaxing in a back corner with his eyes closed just listening to the simplistic thoughts of the little creatures in their glass cages, when he got bombarded with the images of what the new arrival looked like through the eyes of a thousand different fish. The prospect added to the allurement of the room enough for him, that he opened his own peepers to glance coyly over in her direction as she smile in wonder at the arrangement and selection.

There was no discernible sound preceding the display, but when the beautiful woman stepped up to the tank containing the larger schools and began to admire the lion-fish reminiscently, a shoal of about a hundred bluefin trevally stopped their spiraled swimming and choreographed 'Hello'.

She was just sailing along in her mind and enjoying tranquility, you know, simple things in life and staring at the fishes when she saw it. A school of fish coreographed themselves into a greeting. A greating that made oni's plump pout to part with a: 'N-nng' sound. Her brows arched as her eye's widened, pupils to pin dots. Silence...and then...

                    "NNYYAARG"

She backed up pretty far from the tank. Her heart raced smashing into it's bony cage. Her right hand flew to it as if to keep it from leaping out. Spinning around, she spotted him. She hadn't been alone. She looked a little like a spooked cat, hair a little fizzled. Her face was priceless. Somewhere's between confused and horrified. Angry now at being successfully spooked she sputtered.
"W-what are you looking at!? What are you doing down here!?"

Not like she needed any good reason to be down their either! She was embarrassed! Her face flushed a horrid shade of pink which caused her blood to rush closer to the surface, irritating her kessen chu. They squirmed trying to heal the scar across the bridge of her nose, that in which was given in a time before the kessen chu and therefore, could not be healed. She rubbed at her face as inconspicuously as she possibly could.

When raven locks began to stumbled in backwards haste away from his little message with a spooked cry, Gil's mouth popped open in abashed surprise. What a reaction. I mean for pities sake they'd only said hello hadn't the woman ever seen Finding Nemo... mimes and clowns were creepier the friendly little fishies. He stood up meaning to approach her more normally and calm her down, and that is when she spun. Turning on him with unexpected volume and... oh dear, her face.

Narius had defenses against beauty, and he knew how he liked to handle things that he found to be down right sexy, but this... this completely undid him. Throwing both hands over his mouth and trying to smother the sounds that instantly bubbled up, he sank back into his chair and turned his head away trying to hide his reaction. It was pointless. That and he couldn't stop sneaking looks back at... that expression.

It was just so gosh darn, "Oh please..." gasping between more escaped laughs, "... you aren't fighting fair." Taking a deep breath and straightening up, his strong fingered hands bracing on his thighs, he shook his head to try and clear excess joviality. With a positively boyish grin he said, "You look so damn cute when you're startled!" His smile was so open and unrepentantly approachable that it would have been cruel to accuse him of mocking her in any way. But the look in his astonishingly blue eyes was something else entirely. The light from the aquariums reflected in them and made his gaze appear both shallow as pools and complex as the deeps. You could get lost staring into those baby blues trying to decipher the man inside them. Leaning back and crossing his arms over his chest he said, "And I happen to like the company. What about you?"

Now her own mouth popped open slightly at him. Was...was he...laughing at her!? She had to admit that watching him, hearing him laugh so genuinely did make her relax a little. She was still well on her guard though for any sudden moves. Her expression slowly shifted. Her arms folded to rest tucked beneath her ample bosoms as her left brow perked and she pushed out her pout into an impatient purse. The corner of her mouth fought hard to not tug up into a grin. A grin that would crack her determined unimpressed facade and kick start a joining chorus of laughter.

"you aren't fighting fair"
"I usually don't..."

"You look so damn cute when you're startled!"
"Come closer and say that to me bud..."

The look upon his face, the laxed body language and tone of his voice seemed to indicate that he meant no harm. She took a deep breath and silently exhaled slowly. His eye's were indeed alluring and gorgeous. A sea full of questions and longing answers to be unlocked, still and deceiving, powerful ... Those eye's were truly dangerous. Within them no truths would ever be found. She took a few lazy steps towards him, a mild sway in her hips.

"I happen to like the company"

Her head turned towards the tanks...the school of fish that had humorously given her a friendly pantomime were all back to their usual habits. A soft crease formed as her brows slightly furrowed.
"That was you?" the question was so soft it registered barely over a hoarse whisper. It was rhetorical.

Onyx looked back at him placing her yellow topaz eye's upon his face. The blue casted light off of his tanned skin, California blond hair, she couldn't say she had ever fancied a man with blond hair before. He was quite attractive and a complete 180 from what she would ever consider. He did seem to have a rather calming persuasion about him which was most inviting.

"Wandering to be honest. Nothing out of the norm. I just happened upon the basement in my curiosity. So...you like aquatic life?"

When she folded her own arms underneath her assets the effect only amplified what was being done for them by nature and by the design of the sassy little top she had on. No man alive whatever his origins could have failed to appreciate the view, but having done so Narius allowed his excellent memory to do the ogling and like a gentlemen looked up. In someways that was hardly any better, her blasted lips were so succulent and impish in their pursed little state as she fought not to allow his merriment at her reaction to soften her... her what. Dangerous intriguing woman, much to tantalizing to be safe.

She came closer slowly, her body a vessel rocking side to side as much as it made headway forwards. The hypnotic approach of her curvaceous frame belying considerable agility and grace. But what struck him hard, what caused him to rock back on his tip toes to the point where his chair legs teetered and balanced on the brink of dumping him on his hinny... was the complete view. She was back lit by the wall of tanks and the glow of blue green, the flash off silver bodies darting to and fro in the distance. And the effect stirred old memories and made this woman look sexier then a Nymph.

The nearly inaudible accusation about him being responsible for the fishy arrangement made his grin turn sheepish. He'd only been being... well, in a strange way himself. But it had been a very different approach to greeting a pretty girl, so it was hardly unfair that it had backfired so terribly.

"So...you like aquatic life?"

"Quite a bit. Actually I love anything that has to do with the ocean in general. I've spent the majority of my life near water of one kind or another. I've found the sounds and rhythms of the tides to be my favorite lullaby and the kiss of the sun on the wave tops to be better then the sparkle of any gem." His face was soft with longing and a tender sort of love when he talked about the seas. Getting lost in the conversation topic he moved his arms off his chest stretching them around to rest his hands behind his head, his eyes drifted towards the ceiling as his head tipped back... and back... and... back. He'd forgotten that he was already precariously on edge with his seat when he allowed his not inconsiderable bulk of muscle mass to shift too far off center, CRASH!

Shadows flirt with light, chasing each other, dancing coy about their bodies. While she was backlit he was on full glow. What he looked like...she didn't know. She wasn't going to tell him or indicate other wise either. But that man was right fine! When he gave her his answer...his energy shot out to her like a death grip vice, he had her. She took a few more slower steps closer to him. Her heart fluttered and raced but not in the same way as before.

"I've found the sounds and rhythms of the tides to be my favorite lullaby and the kiss of the sun on the wave tops to be better then the sparkle of any gem."

It was the way his voice dropped off, the longing in his expression, the beauty of his words of languistic care that made her nearly flounder to him. She got closer still.
"oh...please! For the love of Calypso! Please say your a God damn pirate!

CRASH

Onyx found that her body had made a snappy dash forwards to where he had fallen. She did not motion to touch him however. A gasp had proceeded her words of inept surprise.
"hoshit! Are you alright!?" she asked hovering over him now.

"I'm fine." He let out his breath in an exasperated whoosh and threw his hands straight up in the air in front of his face for a second, and waving them back and forth like a looby. "My own blasted fault for going on like I was moon struck." Then she came into view right over head and was so distinctly up in his space that he began to notice the heat off of his own torso being reflected back at him from the warmth of another body mass being so near by... it was... Let's just say he found it hard to know which he wanted to do most right then bring the heat sources together or eliminate the echo.

Dropping his left arm to his side, his right hand. the one closet to her, moved like a heat seeking rocket slipping over her forearm and beginning to assert the slightest pressure to help lever himself up.

His quickness startled her. He touched her and upon that contact he used her as leverage to get himself to his feet. The problem was the prior. He startled her and with the action came a reaction. Her left hand clamped around as much of his forearm that she could grasp and swung him forward and off to the left side of her body. The momentum of him having just gotten up to his feet would only aid in propelling him further forwards. It would also cause him to let go of her and her of him. The unexpected came when at last moments chance she brought her knee up to collide with his momentous journey, right into his gut. Surely, this would send him toppling to the floor once more? Possibly landing on his back? Her balance and control of her own movement was precise enough that she stood balanced on her right foot, left leg still bent from the strike.

This would all happen in one very quick chain reactive moment. Her part was over by the time she could stop herself. She didn't like being touched too much. At least univitedly so. She just saw no reason to need to have to touch her. This was different though and for that she was terribly sorry. Instinct wasn't always a plus. It most certainly had its negatives too.
"s**t! I'm..." she started to say as she started to lower her left leg.

What was she going to say? 'Sorry I'm such a ******** ice queen?'. Maybe she ought to just start off by convincing him that she didn't normally try to beat people upon first meeting them. You think he'd believe her if she tried?

The unexpected wasn't unpredictable when you had the type of physique he did this man did. No one survived to earn the number of scars he had on his tanned and taught flesh without being able to know that a sudden shift in direction meant up coming pain. But Narius was curious, he wanted to know what she was going to do. Bracing against whatever she could think of and opening his senses wide he felt her knee connect with his gut, and it had no mean amount of force behind it either. He couldn't help the grunt that escaped his lips, "Hmph." But mentally he was also smiling. Clenched up as he was that had to have felt about as pleasant as driving her cap into a brick wall.

'Not bad. I can do better. Come down here little shark bate' He twisted just before he hit the ground so that he landed on his side, and bringing his own leg up in a good strong sweep behind her standing pose, knocked her flat on her tight little a** next to him. Propped on one arm he looked over at her face with an illuminated grin and said, "I like you. Meet me upstairs in the dinning room in 20. We're having dinner together." And without giving her a chance to argue he sprang lithely to his feet and vanished into the elevator, giving the stunned woman a roguish wink just before the doors closed.

The silent observers to the whole affair were the thousands of sea life, in every single tank not an inch of glass remained free and uncrowded along the wall where the two had been interacting. Fish with their mouths popping opened and closed as little streams of bubbles floated up and away, octopus with tentacles succored flat and eyes bulging in their ugly bulbous heads. It was an eerie crowd because it wasn't clear if they were fascinated, jealous, or if they had wanted to break out and swarm because their friend had been attacked.

The reaction from Nefas came simultaneously to her own. Words interrupted she found herself laid out on her back beside him. Her foot take out from under her she yelped.
"Nyah! Hng..." her chest rose and fell in ignited anger.

Nefas however was intrigued, playfully amused. He also gave her a command and it was this very thing...that caused her stomach to flutter with a thousand butterflies. For the second time this evening this single man managed to render that look of surprise from her. Propped up on her elbows and watching him leave with a look of horror upon her features, he winked and the door closed.

She blinked. Her face melted into a cocky little grin. "Well ******** me running...a man that knows how to properly take charge! This'll be interesting." onyx pushed herself up off the floor and dusted herself off before calling the elevator forwards. She would take it up to the fourth floor where her room was. She had the terribly hard task in finding something nice to wear. She was traveling and only packed certain things. She had her night slip, a fancy heavier lined house coat that doubled as a wrap dress, travel clothes, a pair of dress shoes, and of course her undergarments. s**t.

Location: 4th FL -> Dinning Hall ~ Outfit: Shirt & Shoes

Narius didn't have the wardrobe dilemma that the his date did. In fact he traveled with exactly two ensembles most of the time. His jeans which he was currently wearing, the poor faded sturdy things were ever reliable and convenient and he hardly swapped them out unless absolutely necessary. The second option was what he dained to wear when company or locale required what he called shirt and shoes. So that is exactly what he did, his feet got shoved into a pair of decent looking black boots, and his torso was soon clad in a grey shirt that he rolled the sleeves up on and only bothered to button up about half way.

He was about to leave the room when he caught sight of his reflection in the mirror as he passed, his shark tooth earring swinging wildly in his haste to be off. He stopped and stared, something was off... with a muttered curse he hopped around on one foot at a time and switched the jeans out for his only dress slacks. There he thought looking again and running his hands through his sandy hair with a grin,
'Nearly respectable. Nearly human.' Rolling his eyes he left his own fourth floor suite and headed back down to the meeting area.

It was inevitable that he had arrived well before his new lady friend and it wasn't until he approached the maitre d' that he realized she wouldn't have any idea who to ask for. The idea made him grin so wide, imagining her deciding how to describe him, that both rows of his teeth flashed in the light coming from the near by fire place. They weren't particularly strange looking, just very strong and white, and the K-9's unusually pointy, something about that smile made the poor man in front of him swallow convulsively and ask with a little squeak, "Can I help you?"

"No thanks I'm meeting a beautiful woman here and I'd hate to miss her grand entrance."
With out any further explanation he meandered off to the side and pursuing the walls pulled a book down that caught his eye. The title read 'An experts Tail of the sunken city. Atlantis' mysteries finally unveiled' Narius read the title twice and visibly winced at the stupid pun but cracked the cover anyway. The next thing you could hear was the repeated mutterings of... "wrong... wrong... completely wrong... was the writer oxygen deprived... ugh... not again..." And he might well have gone on like this until he eventually decided if the book was amusingly fictional enough to put back or insultingly erroneous enough to burn in flaming effigy, if the door on the elevators hadn't dinged open. And when he looked up his jaw literally dropped, using one finger to lift his chin back to his upper lip he said quietly, "Completely Right."

In her room onyx looked at herself in the mirror to the clothing she had arrived in. She nose crinkled as her faced screwed up. No, what she was wearing was not suitable for dinner. Not in a dining hall like the one this place had anyways. She took off her leather jacket...she felt too exposed for a first date. She was acutely aware of herself, of the chest of hers. No this wasn't going to do at all! In her travels, some of the situations she got herself into had forced her to have to ditch her clothing to switch it out for something else. She was rather good at wearing guises 'masks' to get what and where she needed to be. Immortal she may be, she was still human under it all and had to work at hiding. There was no hiding tonight because all she had was borderline sleep wear. She had a fancy house coat that could easily double for a dress. This is what she did.

Unraveling herself naked she grabbed her garter belt that held up her nylons and put it on. Next came her night slip to which she pulled down and over her bra clad breasts. She stepped into her heels. Lastly her double lined, ornate house coat. She fastened it in a manner that made it look like an over glorified kimono. The multilayers gave it the right fullness and it wasn't see through, which was damn lucky for her. Lastly she twisted and pinned her hair up off her to keep it out of the way. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled.

Onyx could make an outfit out of paper and could make it work for her. For having next to nothing, she felt she did a right smashing job. A quick touch up of her face and she was out the door. She was nervous as she stood on that elevator. Why!? She didn't know. The elevator came to its stop...she held her breath. The door opened. She exhaled and stepped out to make her way into the dining hall.

When she spotted her...date, she nearly bauched. He looked so...sexy! It caused her brow to raised and her lips to curl into a smirk. She approached him.
"excuse me... I'm looking for a man that's pleasantly forward and has one hell of a keen sense of fashion. Seen anyone around here like that?" he would be able to catch the soft scent of her jasmine that beckoned the senses to want to investigate.
