He sits there for a moment and watches Trevelynn, watches their entwined fingers as he tries to figure out how to answer her question. He starts slowly at first as he looks back to Trev's eyes, "I...I would not. I can not speak for the other me, nor his memories or personality that has developed or...if it would remain dominant...or if it would end up two of me with the same personality...I can only speak of me, here, now..."
Danil's eye's widened as he saw the giant multi coloured bird in his retreat path, his own trajectory would take him to close to the birds wing span and beak so he had to halt himself and shift directions. But that little pause was all Riquozi needed in order for his blood chain to close around Danil's neck. The burning sensation ripped across his body and he fell to his knees gasping through the pain. Pure unadulterated loathing shone through his eyes but because of the clamp on his neck he was unable to voice his discontentment.
Tess didn't bother watching Ailm she just assumed he'd follow cuz Riquozi was here, she had hoped he'd help but still remained surprised when he did so. By the time she had finished shoving leaves over every inch of her stepsister's neck Tess's own hands were raw and so bloody it was hard to tell they were hands at all. She just happened to glance up the moment Riquozi's chain hooked Danil.
"Key, Riquozi I need a key"
She ran her fingers around the smooth surface of the cuff hissing with the pain it was causing her but finding no seam or catch to open it
"You say that now and then you say something very different when you speak of your other self."
She sighed and pulled their hands from her face but their fingers still remained entwined.
"If you have no idea when this other one comes how can you say you wouldn't leave?"
"Yes, I suppose...." She said looking at the tray. Though she was more worried about Irina whom hadnt eaten in hours and had just gone outside. But her main responsibility were the babies. She grabbed one of the smaller bowls and said "I decided to have them try mashed sweet potatoes..."
Arianna placed Argene in his high chair. Her room was now a mini nursery. She couldnt believe how much had things changed for her.
Jumana looked up at Sayne and babbled something that sound like "Papa" and smiled adoringly at him.
Sayne couldn't help but laugh at Arianna's reaction. He thought about it for a moment, about his experience parenting and the experiences of others. "By the time the tumbles and scrapes come, you're ready for them. But when they grow up, I don't think that's something any parent is really ready for." He stopped bouncing Jumana and held her in his right arm, using his left hand to push the bands on his upper right arm back into place. He looked over at the tray of food he had left on the table. "I would think they've calmed down enough to eat, don't you think?"
Arianna turned to look at him with a horrified expression. She hated the thought of her babies getting hurt...she felt a little panic at knowing she wasnt ready to handle such situations...and since when did she thought of them as hers, anyway?!
She took a deep breath and said "I...dont think Im ready for that..."
Argene simply snuggled into her arms and burrowed his face into her chest. Out of the two babies, he was the most affectionate.
Sayne dealt with children far more than most probably expected, infants in particular. It was perhaps knowing that their innocence is incredibly fleeting that he had endless patience with babies. "It isn't much, but I'm glad I could help." He smiled and easily took Jumana from Arianna. He watched Irina make her escape but again said nothing, instead watching Argene and Arianna while he lightly bounced Jumana in his arms. "Soon enough you'll be kissing their boo-boos all better, then before you know it you'll be going through first aid kits constantly."
Arianna was impressed by Sayne's ease with handling the situation. He seemed to have a lot of experience with children. Jumana flinched slightly as Sayne rubbed the ointment but smiled at him adoringly as she felt instant relief. It was very soothing.
Arianna chuckled softly and said 'I think that means it's better...Thank you...Sayne...' She added softly and kissed his cheek, then kissed the baby's head.
Jumana reached out for Sayne, wanting him to hold her. Arianna looked at Sayne and said 'Do you mind holding her for a minute? I'll apply the ointment to Argene...'
Irina handed the baby boy to Arianna and hurried outside. She ran until she reached a tree by the pond, and hugged the trunk, shaking softly and sobbing quietly. 'Momma...' She said softly as she lowered herself to the cold ground, and shut her eyes willing that sense of dread to disappear.
Sayne wasn't going to ask. Whatever was going on the Jade was Aristar's concern because she was his charge. He smiled reassuringly at Jumana as Arianna approached. Lifting a hand, he gently touched the back of Jumana's head to look at the small cross marking on her neck. He only saw some redness from skin irritation, no sign of bleeding or rash.
"Just a moment." He said softly and turned, walking into the bathroom. Opening one of the vanity doors and pulling out a small first aid kit. All he took from it was a tube of antibiotic ointment. Because these ointments tended to have a petroleum jelly base, it was soothing on burned or irritated skin. He returned to Arianna and Jumana as he opened the tube, then squeezed a small amount onto the tip of his finger and gently rubbed it on Jumana's neck.
"There, is that better?"
Aiswynd let forth a brief chuckle as he watched her entwine her fingers with his at her cheek, "Well...guess I have a lot to learn and figure out...I don't plan to go anywhere anytime soon so I'm sure I have plenty of time to figure it out..." he smiles at Trevelynn as he sits there with her, his own tattoos glowing faintly, even though there was no apparent change in color, the glow seemed warmer, happier than normal.
Aristar smiled knowingly as he felt Sayne's gaze on him. Of course, he would already notice how different he was. He was considered rather strange in his circle of peers, but it was that strangeness that had helped him become strong and rather powerful. He was of high rank in his community after all.
Irina looked at him with some resentment, and he merely winked at her playfully, earning himself a glare from him. He smirked and then turned towards Arianna whom looked at him with a mix of awe and fear.
"Well, my work in here is...." he said for a moment and then he simply froze and his eyes widened in alarm. "No..." he gasped out.
Irina felt a deep sense of dread and whispered "Mother...?"
Aristar regained composure and with a rather stoic expression, he said "You stay here and don't come looking for me nor your mother, understood?"
He opened a portal and stepped into it right away, closing immediately as to stop the girl from attempting to follow him.
Irina exclaimed "Master NO! wait!" but it was too late. He was gone.
Arianna approached Sayne as she soothingly rocked the sniffling baby girl and said to him "Do you have anything that can soothe the burn mark? It looks red and irritated...it must not be very painful, but it must still be uncomfortable and I don't dare touch it..." Jumana looked up at Sayne with watery eyes. She had not liked at all what the strange man had done.
As Teshika collided with him, it felt like someone tossed a sack of flour at him, but he feet stayed firmly planted to the charred ground. Without Vani he could not fly, so could only begin to guess at what to do when little Teshika began to lift off the ground. His hand outstretched to pull her back to him, but instead of trying to keep her away from Danil like he expected, he was instead being pulled toward Riven. Up close, the smell of burning flesh was a foul, thick scent in his nose as he leaned down and touched a hand to the iron. It felt very warm, but it was not searing hot like he expected. His hands wrapped around the shackle and gently lifted it from the base of her neck, clenching his teeth as he saw the dried blood crack and separate while he worked to keep as much of the shackle from touching her flesh as possible. Teshika's delicate hands flashed between grabbing leaves and pushing them into the space between iron and flesh. He spared a moment to marvel at Teshika's quick-thinking and intelligence before lifting his head to watch his Alpha and make sure he came to no harm, all the while adjusting his hands to keep out of Teshika's way while still keeping hold of the iron collar.
Vani watched the whole scene nervously, staying on his perch that was the charred portal. As soon as the stranger began to run at him, he became upset and aggressive, refusing to come off his clean perch and step in the sludge, nor would he take off without Ailm or Riquozi. His brilliant tail feathers fanned out as he puffed up his body and made himself look even bigger, spreading his wings and screeching at the man coming at him, ready to bite or claw at him if he tried to shoo him away.
Riquozi growled his frustration as Danil leaped backward, narrowly evading the shackle. He shook his arm to loosen the chain as he chased after the coward, finding himself grinning as he saw Vani get stirred up. The stubborn, vain bird did turn out to be good for something besides a flashy ride. Once he had enough slack on the chain, he launched the shackle from his palm, again aiming for his neck. The open shackle shot at Danil, aiming for it's target like a viper after its prey.
Tess hit Ailm like he was a brick wall, she bounced off him not expecting to hit a target as quickly as she had. Her green eyes flashed from Danil to him and she peeled her lips back from her more pointed Fae teeth. Using her wings she raised herself into the air in time to see Riquozi go for Danil instead. She shuddered over the idea of him being hurt like Riven was, all because of her, but she didn't have time if the chain stayed around Riven's neck much longer it would burn through her throat. Changing directions Tess pulled Ailm with her as she shot towards her step sister. Calling a leafy vine from he woods, Tess pulled it to her with her magic and plucked leaf after leaf from it's stems and crammed them between the iron band and Rivens blistered smoking neck. Tess ignored the pain and the blistering damage she did to her own fingers as she whispered apologies, tears raced each other down her cheeks but it was hard to tell if they were from pain or guilt. Riven didn't seem to notice as she remained riveted to the fight between Danil, who had now dropped her leash, and Riquozi.
Danil hardly noticed Riquozi's tone he was watching the woods and was rewarded with the sight he had wanted. Teshika's enraged form shot from the tree's but the Alpha's buddy stopped her before she could reach him. He had only a moment of utter frustration before he realized his mistake of taking his eye's off the Alpha. One second he had been mere feet away and now he was in the air and closer then a breath. Danil flung himself backwards, narrowly avoiding the cuff around his neck but he lost his grip on his own chain and therefore the only bargaining chip he had. He swore viciously before he tried to turn tail and run back to the portal he had used to get here.
Sayne fell silent, not having much to say. He didn't jump at the little ones reaction, believing it was little more than them just being startled much like when a parent gives their child a warning spank on the rear. Being startled and the momentary fear made them cry, but no real harm seemed to be done. Besides, if Aristar had hurt them he would be in a world of hurt from his little blood oath. He nodded in agreement at the necromancer's logic, though even if Jade knew her children were safe she would still want to see them. That's just what mothers do. Even so, his cold caring was a bit touching. He seemed more compassionate toward Jade and her children than Salen ever seemed when Sayori had been faced with the possibility of having someone else's child through her traumatic circumstances. This necromancer seemed a bit different.
"Alpha Mypuyo is not interested." Riquozi's voice became more firm and low as he became irritated at Danil's stubbornness. He was about to offer the subordinate up at a test subject for Mypuyo when Danil finally revealed his bargaining piece. Seeing Riven look so pitiful and trapped didn't suit her, but at least she wasn't giving up. Images rose in his mind, memories of mistresses being shackled a similar way as nothing but objects. His indigo gaze narrowed into a glare of pure intolerance. If Danil thought he could chain up vulnerable beings, he was going to give him a taste of his own medicine. Without hesitation, he lifted his arm to his lips and used his razor sharp canines to puncture his skin. He quickly pulled his arm away before his blood could touch his lips or get in his mouth and his eyes began to glow. Much like the Ihwaz could summon chains to harness any Purgatory being living or dead, Alphas and Betas were bestowed with similar chains they could summon with their blood magic. Because of the toxic nature of their blood, these chains were much like iron to Fae. His blood quickly pulled out of the small puncture wound and began to take shape. In the palm of his hand, a neck shackle formed attached to a thick chain that wounds around his arm.
This was the first Ailm had seen Riven, but he had heard about her. He was reminded of his elven partner, Cybil, the very one who had reduced Demet to ashes saving her sister. Fiery Fae like this were not meant to be trapped like this and he had every intention of letting Riven get back at Danil when and if they could get him under control. Though he was not as attuned to sound as Beta Derzan was, he could not much the tortured noise he assumed was coming from Teshika. His head snapped in the direction of the noise and he saw a blur of green hair shooting out at them.
"Alpha!" He shouted at Riquozi and shot a flash image of Teshika heading toward them into Riquozi's mind, which was the only warning he had time to give before he stepped in between Teshika and Danil and Riquozi. He hoped to at least keep Teshika at enough of a distance to stay out of Danil's reach.
Ailm's sight flashed in the back of his eyes, a faint image of Teshika's coming at them barely having enough time to register in his mind before it was gone. He didn't have time to wait or bargain or threaten. He needed Danil subdued before he could get his hands on Tess. He ignored the dull burn or the chain wrapped around his arm, not taking the time to uncoil it as he lunged at Danil, the shackle cupped in his palm aimed at his neck.
She gave him a half smile raising her own hand to lace her fingers with the ones on her cheek. His reaction to her reactions surprised her, but then so had the kiss it's self. Emotions warred within in her and she was having difficulty sorting them all out.
He watched her entire reaction, the shifting, all of it in amusement, he didn't bolt, or anything. He sat there, waiting on her to return and then reached out and brushed some of her white hair aside, "You're probably right, that probably just made you more intent on kicking my butt if I die." he laughs a little bit and smiles down at her, his fingers lingering against her cheek.
