hrough the crowded streets of Barton Town, you make your way past shopping stores, boutiques, and shops. You pass windows, only stopping to take a quick glance at whatever happens to be on sale before hurrying on your way. You bump into another Gaian, dropping whatever is in your hands. Stooping to pick it up, you notice a new sign across the street at the corner of the intersection of two roads. It is a rather plain sign, yet appealing with simple curves as it hangs over the door. It is made of wood that has been stained a rich mahogany color with a boarder of a deep russet color that is tinted in gold. The sign looks a bit weathered; perhaps it had been put away for a while before it finally got to see the light of day. But in all its simplicity, you like it because out of all the signs in the town it is the only one that does not stand out particularly like all the others.
The sign has some writing on it, and you move to a better angle to read it where you then see it also has a picture of a feather quill pen. The writing, written in slightly chipped paint, says, “Feather Quill Café” and in smaller print below, “A Writer’s Office”. It makes you curious, and so you safely cross the street to enter into the corner shop. On the door are the hours and a sign that says, “Welcome”. Feeling safe, you enter to see…
A decent sized room with small round tables on either side with two to four high chairs with ornate high backs around each table. The windows have purple velvet curtains around them and are tied back with gold rope. There are teacup lights on the walls as well as one chandelier on the ceiling that brightly lights the room. There are a few people sitting at various tables writing, typing, or talking with others over their purchase. You walk past them, a few look and smile while the others pay you no mind. It doesn’t bother you, as they seem to be busy.
You finally get to the front counter. In the glass case to your right there are fresh cookies, cupcakes, and other tasty treats and a menu for others. To the left is an eat-in counter with tall matching chairs. There is also a menu for drinks and you can see behind the counter a coffee pot and tea pots, you can also see soda fountains along with fresh fruit smoothie makers. All the way to the right and left are doors, one leading to the kitchen and the other to the apartment loft upstairs. Next to the old fashioned looking register, there is a machine for card purchases and a small sign that says, “Welcome!” You shrug and hit the small bell. After a moment, a woman walks out from the kitchen. She has long ebony hair and dark eyes that seem to be a shade of purple. She is of average height and is wearing a black button up shirt tucked in a pair of pinstriped pants with a small waist apron over it; the only thing in her pocket is a single feather quill. There is a nametag on her bosom that matches the outside sign that says, “Sohalia”.
She smiles brightly to you, setting her hands upon the counter in front of her and says, “Welcome. How can I help you?”
