Sir Quixote

Steam was gently rising up from Quixote's exhaust pipes as the being looked up at the woman who had addressed him. He looked at her for a few moments, then rose from his seat only to get down on one knee. "Milady, I fear that such a fine lady as yourself should not be servicing me." Taking her hand, the metalic being looked up at her face, which was not difficult, since at his height, he was only a foot or two away from looking her in the eye.

"However, refusing such an offer would be the most rude act a knight such as myself could perform." The knight rose again, towering over the copper haired woman, then sat down again, still looking at the woman. The being tilted his head at her, as if he was thinking. "As such, I would ask for a spot of tea, and begrudgingly request for lodging." Quixote then nodded lightly.

The nature of the sire's greeting inspired Copperkey's ever growing imagination and her mind ran away with her for just an instant. As she watched the knight settle back into his chair she chuckled as the metal frame of the furniture bent. Her slender fingers weaved about the back of it for just an instant and the frame stood handsomely tall once more, as if a feather had instead fallen on its cushioned seat. She then set her green eyes on the gentleman again and nodded her head.

"You'll find yourself with a free room just up those stairs." her hand whisked up and she pointed next to the door where the steps led up and to the second floor. "Please, choose a room with a silver handle. Once you call it your own it will turn copper. After that only you are allowed entry unless you give someone else express permission."

She turned on her heel to go to the kitchen and then stopped. Then she turned again to spy the mechanical knight.

"And what tea would you like tonight?"

"PG Tips, if you have it. And, if at all possible, make it a builder's. I find that the transformation of my hands has made it difficult to grasp those tiny cups. It is much easier to take it in a mug. Impressive work, by the way." The large being decided to remain seated, knowing full and well that if he did stand up and go to a room, he would not have the desire to come back down. It was a wonder how the being slept so much in his opinion.

Tilting his wrist lightly, some gears began clanking, and a cane popped out from inside his arm. He took it by the handle, then pulled at it, revealing that it was a sword. The being inspected it closely, then rubbed it against his metal skin, sharpening it. Seemingly satisfied, the knight sheathed the sword again, then rested his can against the chair.

Transformation, eh? Copperkey's mind truly was spinning now. And as always the young lady put courtesy above her own always eager interests and bowed her head.

"You got it! One mug of tea on the way." She grinned. Unsure if he was referring to her magic or the room locking trick she thanked him all the same and twirled in place on the velvet carpet underneath her feet. Trekking behind the entry into the kitchen the lass moved to the cupboard above the stove and knocked on the ornate wood twice Her eyes closed, she opened it via the knob and then peered inside. Just a single box met her gaze, PG Tips. Taking it up in her agile hands she quickly lit the pilot light with a touch of her finger and a little magic and on the kettle went.

Having decided to entertain her guest with polite conversation, or fill in the blanks with interest in his journey Copperkey made her way back out and into the parlor as she awaited the kettle to hiss.

"You're tea is on the way." She announced with a smile. "If you don't mind my asking, from which way have you traveled, sir? And I'm Copperkey by the way. Oh, or Key works too. It's a pleasure to meet you."

The knight looked up at the young lady once more, then rose to his full height. Walking over to the chair next to him, Quixote pulled it out for Key to take a seat. Steam hissed out of the exhaust pipes as his monocle adjusted itself, seemingly seeing something. "Key? Such an unfitting for a beautiful woman such as yourself... In this case, I must take the latin word for key, clostra, and proclaim that it shall be what I shall call you. Now, come, sit, Clostra of Copper Key, and chat with me. Your eyes show curiosity I have not seen in many a year... Or has it been months?"

The being looked away in thought, still ready to push in her chair when she decided to sit down. Shaking his head lightly with a chuckle, he looked back at Key. "However, I digress. I have come from Azuresburg, where a fellow adventurer and I have escorted a merchant. They both agreed that I should come upon your residence for lodging and drink."

"Then I'll have to thank the residents there with an even bigger batch of baked goods!" She laughed, delighted that the citizens of Azuresburg had already taken a liking to her cafe.

It had been only months since she'd established herself in the building, maintaining a low profile while she made repairs and renovations her top priority. The odd passerby or two always came along and she always sent them away with free sweets and cakes. That had proven to be a wise gesture indeed. Or...there had been other reasons as to why her cafe had taken their interest. Still, it made her smile.

She took a seat when it was pulled out for her, grateful to be off her feet from the long day's work. Although, it was a bit odd for the customer to be taking care of the hostess. Still, she was quite pleased and admired the name he'd decided to call her by.

"It sounds as though you're well versed from your travels." She left a tidy opening in the conversation, very interested in hearing of his ventures. "And thank you for the name, it's beautiful."

(( Would mid-thirties still constitute as "young man"?

And I'm so sorry, we got back and then my fashion major friend was like, "Hey, I have this beautiful suit coat; want to try it?" And so I did and then it divulged into dress-up wherein she pulled out all the shoes and scarves and suddenly I was in 1940s Oxford. <__> ))

Albie squinted at her when she introduced herself, "Copper-key? Well, that's odd! Is yer ferst name Copper an yer surname Key oar isit jist one name? Well, either wey, it's nice tae meet you, Miss Key. And yes, I would ever-so-much like a room." He paused and looked up for a moment when she asked about flavor before answering, "Eeem, darjeeling? With honey?"

While waiting for the tea, Albie took his suitcase upstairs to find a room, but got carried away and didn't come down until a good deal later. When he came back, though, his sandy hair was dampened to brown and he wore a fresh change of clothes.

He stopped dead in his tracks with eyebrows popped in surprise at the big bumbling new customer, but quickly saddled on up to join the conversation. "So sorry ah goat distracted," he quickly said to Key before introducing himself to the knight with an outstretched hand, "Albie Raske. Ah would be delighted tae hear about yer adventures."

The knight pushed in her chair, then sat back down himself. Letting out a drawn out hiss of steam, the metallic man looked out one of the windows, looking as if it was looking for something. "A name is a precious thing. One must do their best to keep it safe. That is one of the things I have learned, after all. There are too many lessons to count, I fear. Stories; however, have come to me like an overflowing fountain. Battles against giants, the rat-men of Gerrah, the Libraries of the Asura, and of course, the fair maiden of the Sylvari... And more, of course."

Then, a name was called out and a man was reaching out to him. The knight looked at the man, then stood slowly, his old joints creaking lightly. He grasped Raske's hand in an iron grip, then looked in between him and Key. "The pleasure would be mine, my good man. Ah, I have been terribly rude, for I have not introduced myself. My name, for the moment, is Sir Quixote, hailing from a land unknown at this time. Come, Raske, take a seat." He motioned towards a seat at the table, then sat down himself.

((In some cases.))

(I'm so sorry, but it appears that a fight is about to break out here between some folks at the McDonald's I'm using. I need to be going now, but I shall be on tomorrow. Have a great night!)

(Take your time, I myself am up to something currently with a friend. It's great to have you back in the thread today, though^^)

The new day at the Copperkey cafe had wound along its lazy path in time, each minute growing into another sweet hour as the keeper and hostess cleaned around the yards. Rather, she'd spent her time attempting to naturally transplant some shrubbery near the front porch. For the poor girl had not been given the gift of the green thumb... And most plants she'd tried to keep alive without the assistance of her magic.

Well...it wasn't pretty. And neither were her clothes.

As she'd worked the soil and bushes her neat waistcoat and become coated in dirt and green residue. Her long, usually luxurious locks were in a heavy copper hued tangle, the boots on the lass' feet caked in mud. And yet the magician had never looked so happy under the cool breeze from the waters by Azuresburg. A hum escaped her golden hued lips and she plunged her fingers into the roots of one such african daisy she'd been putting in near the steps.
