Jon sat skulking in a corner of the lounge peering over a chair which he had strategically moved to hide himself from view. It was early on a Sunday, Jon’s favorite time of the week, when he could count the number of patrons on his right hand. From his dimly lit vantage point he could easily spot Boss moving from the kitchen to the dining area to the stage to the bar and back again taking long strides while stopping to chat with anyone he passed. Each time Boss turned in his direction, Jon’s bright green mohawk disappeared from eyesight as he ducked below the chair. Cautiously he’d pop out again and check to make sure he wasn’t needed before settling back in chair and simply observing.

Boss knew Jon was over in the corner, and he kept sneaking peeks over his shoulder to check up on him, smiling to himself each time Jon vanished. Boss was keeping himself busy to avoid bothering Jon during his favorite time of day fully knowing he’d have plenty of time to chase after him later. So he moved about the club waiting for the early dinner crowd to start mulling into the club, bringing drinks to the guests that never seemed to leave the lounge, and making sure the sound was working fine on the stage. Scanning over the club, Boss hummed to himself with an all-too eager smile on his face finding nothing to distract him.

Whistling a quiet note to himself he turned heel and strode over to the bar impatiently. Grinning first at Walter who was standing behind the bar, Boss leaned over the bar to peer behind the counter at the bottles and glasses. He spoke loudly and brightly as he stood up straight with a laugh, “Anything you need, Blue?”

It was a slow day today, but it usually was at this time anyways, where Saturday night’s regulars stayed up all night and slept in on Sundays and Sunday’s crowd left to prepare for Monday’s morning. Walter “Blue” Springbrook’s eyes swept over the club from behind his bar counter, chewing thoughtfully on a toothpick as he assessed the few patrons who still lingered. Some he knew, others were new faces. He looked down on to the counter and continued to wipe it down with the single hand he still had. In the end it didn’t matter, he decided, they were customers and he would treat them as such… he grimaced. Unless they leaned over the counter and started to ask questions. He shook his head, his dark blue hair swaying as he frowned lightly. He never understood why they did that and it frankly made him nervous, especially when they tried touching him…

“Hm…” He straightened up again, eyes roaming over the lounge in time to see Jon’s bright green mop hide behind a chair. Jon didn’t ask questions though. Walter rapped his knuckles against the counter top as he finished wiping it down. Jon didn’t try to touch him either, and for that much he was glad.

“Anything you need, Blue?”

Walter blinked, looking up at his employer, mutely shaking his head in response. Boss was different though, taller than Jon and much more talkative… and touchy too. He shifted back, the cloth in his hand disappearing behind the counter. He didn’t quite understand Boss either, but the other man had saved him and employed him, so he supposed that the other man wasn’t that bad… though he was loud. Remembering that the other man preferred verbal responses, Walter chewed on his toothpick before finally speaking, voice soft and quiet, polite and formal to a fault. “No..” He paused, “Thank you for asking.”

Boss chuckled pleasantly already twisting his neck to the right and then the left noting everything happening around him. Smiling back over at the bartender Boss spoke, nodding his head in agreement with himself, "Great, great..." Relaxing his shoulders he sat himself on a stool with his back to the bar, looking out over the lounge and dance floor. The large smile on his face gradually shrunk as he attempted to remain silent and still, finding even the stool he sat on to be silent when spun. Musical bar stools. Now that's an idea! Smirking to himself, he exhaled contentedly.

Adjusting his tan cowboy hat to cover his eyes from the flashing lights flickering from the dance floor he started whistling 'God Bless America' softly leaning his broad shoulders back on the counter as the first three notes came from his lips.

Letting the song trail off after a minute of patriotic caroling, Boss spun back around to speak with Walter again, "Ready for the day to start?" He hopped off the stool as he spoke, making his way to the entrance to behind the bar slipping in to grab a clean glass. Holding it up he attempted to use its distorted reflection to fix his two stray cowlicks into place and check his bright, white smile.

As he stared through the glass from the corner of his eye he accidentally caught Jon shoving the chair he was hiding behind back into place, standing, and quickly moving off into the dining area without glancing once in Boss' direction. Boss' eyes followed him until Jon was lost from his sight. Sighing dejectedly he placed the glass back under the counter haphazardly. Spinning around to face the bottles lining the shelving behind the bar he grinned with a hint of sadness and a laugh, "Even Jon wouldn't drink this early in the night, but they do look mighty tempting..."

Walter eyed Boss warily, wondering if the other man was going to make a grab for him again. When he sat down and faced the bar, he relaxed, listening to the other man whistle. That was another thing he didn't understand here, not having been born nor raised in this country. He frowned again, not quite sure what to do and instead doing nothing. It wasn't the first time he wondered if he had made the right choice to leave his family behind and begin a new in this new city... He wasn't sure if it was the brooding thoughts of his past decisions or if it was the flashing dance lights that began his headache, so he turned, grabbing a cup before filling it with water. It didn't matter...

"Ready for the day to start?

When he turned around again he nearly jumped when Boss was suddenly behind the counter and beside him. When had he...? He edged back a bit for space warily, sipping from his glass as the other man preened in the reflection of another. With deep blue eyes he watched a flurry of open emotions play across Boss' face, silent as he listened. His eyes flickered over to the clock before looking back to the shirtless man in front of him. It really was too early... but that didn't stop some of the customers... Finally he moved, placing his half empty glass down onto the counter before moving to replace and straighten the glass that Boss had put back down.

"Yes, but you shouldn't." He looked up again, voice smooth and professional, "I can prepare you a non-alcoholic drink though.. if you'd like."

This at least, he understood... or so he thought he did. Though Walter was oblivious to Boss and Jon's relationship (or lack of one), he was used to Boss' odd moods of dejection. It had taken a while, but eventually he had just accepted it. He leaned back against the counter, his single arm crossing over his chest to hold his other side in a strange mock-resemblence of a man crossing his arms. "Jon would not like it if you began drinking anything else at this time..."

Boss turned to Walter in surprise careful to not bump back into the shelving. He had forgotten that Walter was standing beside him so silently having been completely absorbed in himself, Jon, and the bottles. Cracking a smile he laughed placing a hand on his hat to steady it as his shoulders shook. Cockily he tilted his head to look over at Walter and shrugged nonchalantly with a pompous smile to boot, "If it ain't alcohol, it ain't worth the glass." Resisting the urge to just jump up on the counter and down onto a stool, Boss clattered out the same way he came behind the bar, and slid onto a new stool. Another silent stool.

Boss' smile only grew the cockier as he mulled over the last thing Walter said, "Nah, Jon could care less." He stared down at the counter with a fond smile before laughing and shaking his finger excitedly, "Ah wait, wait! No, I take that back! He'd care, but only because he'd have to take care of this place himself!" He laughed shortly and spun a little on the stool from side to side like a child.

Turning around again he scanned the club, impatiently waiting for it to pick up. His curiosity to where Jon had left to, and why he had gotten bored of his perfect hiding spot tugged at his brain but he pushed it back for now. He spoke more quietly now, still with a grin, slightly facing Walter and slightly the lounge and doors to the kitchen.

"How's the apartment search going? His eyes darted from Walter's face to the stage and back with a more compassionate smile than his last. Boss wasn't much of a worrier and certainly not over a fellow New Yorker, but he knew Walter was new to the city. It brought back memories of when he had first come to the city from his family's ranch and how hard the adjustment had been at first.

Walter frowned as Boss left and returned to his stool. "Water is nonalcoholic. Water is important... especially after the alcohol." But his words went unheeded as usual. He frowned a bit in frustration to Boss' carefree attitude, wanting nothing more than to inform the other about the valuable properties of water and how important it was to drink some after alcohol's dehydration... but he knew the other wouldn't listen, so he drank his own instead. He watched, expression as wary as ever as Boss clambered about like a child and joked about. He would'ved huffed if he wasn't drinking. That's exactly why Jon wouldn't like it... also, you get touchy when you're drunk...

The loud behavior and care free attitude annoyed him, and Boss' tendency to ignore his warnings did as well. He eyed the other man again with a softer frown as the other man suddenly inquired after Walter's business, blushing lightly before he broke eyecontact, looking away.

Boss was annoying... very annoying. Annoying to a fault... but... he couldn't hate the man. Walter put the glass down again on top of the counter. The other man was loud and rash... but he cared, and was very sincere. The odd combo on Boss' already energetic personality made the other man as bubbly and cheerful as the drinks that Walter served. It was... endearing... In an odd way.

It still didn't mean that Walter liked it when Boss touched him.

"Fine... still looking..." His eyes finally flickered back up to the Texan's face. In truth, it would've been more than easy to tap into his family's bank accounts and find himself the best condo in the area... but that would've defeated his entire purpose for coming here... "Not a lot of apartments are empty... not nearby."

User Image To say young Anthony Solstice was down in the dumps would be an understatement, as it would turn out the recently turned twenty-two year old had been hit with bad news after bad news the whole day. The worst of it however was that his girlfriend broke up with him just because he wore socks with sandles. What kind of reason is that to break up with someone? Though to be honest he had never been good with girls or boys or with keeping a relationship to begin with, hell, he was lucky she had even agreed to have him. The man had horrid luck in school and relationships of any kind but he still kept trying for whatever reasons, he didn't really know himself.

The blond sighed deeply and stopped walking, why did he even bother staying in America? He had moved here from Canada to be with the girl he had met over summer break and had fallen in love with over time. However that hit rock bottom fairly fast after he got here and found out she was cheating on him with some sort of buisinessman from Europe or something.
He sighed deeply and looked at the door infront of him, some friends of his had told him about this place and to check it out. He clicked his tongue, not that any of them would come with him. "They probably think i'd be no fun, since I don't go to clubs often.." He glanced at his watch, it was still early but he needed a distraction and from what he heard a drink is the kind of distraction he needed.

When he walked into the club his glasses almost fell off from the shock, it certainly was what his friends described. With a little self-motivation he made his way to the bar and took a seat, his first time in such a club, alone. He smiled with determination to himself, he would have fun and forget that witch of a women or he'd die trying, though it was more likely he'd get a hangover than actually die.

Boss just laughed to Walter's comment on water. He bit his tongue immediately almost letting water's good for washing glasses, not filling them up slip out first. Tucking the thought away in his head he watched bemusedly as Walter drank his water. If he were stuck working behind the bar listening to people soulfully bemoan their life's woes he'd be drunker than a Russian stereotype before the bar could open. Just the thought depressed him. Of course that was why he ran a club and not some corner bar with a piano man, at least the crowds here were in it for a good time and not miserable company.

It made Walter a bit of an odd fit to the place. Boss hardly ever saw the man chatting away or smiling for that matter. Well he fit right in with Jon at least. He certainly didn't seem the partying type at the very least...but I'm sure I'd have an easier time coercing him to do something than Jon. His grey blue eyes twinkled merrily at the thought.

"That's a shame..." Boss tapped the counter mimicking a pianist, "It is the business area, less apartments here, less people coming and going." He inhaled and exhaled before craning his neck to look around the club again.

"If you find a place that looks nice with a good price, call Jon and I over to check it out. Just to give you our second opinions." Boss grinned like an idiot for a moment and then sharply jumped up from his seat to lean over the counter once more. There he grabbed an empty glass to then clink with to the one Walter held which he did all the while ignoring Walter's reactions. "...and when you sign the deal, we'll have a home-warming party for you!"

Walter listened frowning lightly in thought before nodding to Boss' advice. The sudden clink to his glass when it was still at his lips caused the man to jump again before scowling in embarrassment, a flush creeping up his silent neck. Wordlessly he turned, trying to hide his face as he took his cup to the sink underneath the ledge of the counter. Walter poured what remained of his drink down the sink before rinsing it and placing it on the back counter so that he could use it again later before finally turning to answer the other man, grumbling unhappily at Boss' previous action.

"Maybe... for the second opinion. Not for the party."

He paused, eyes shifting as the elevator dinged and a blond, nervous looking youth stepped in. Suddenly the red cloth was in one-armed Walter's hand again as he wiped the drops of water that spilled from his cup off the counter as the blond appeared to collect his courage. He watched as the man approached his bar and sat himself down, ignoring Boss now as he moved over to serve the boy.

"Can I help you?" Walter's voice was once again a smooth polite inquiry, low and professional as he assessed the boy in front of him.

User Image Anthony glanced up at Walter, eyes immediatly falling on his missing arm. He awkwardly looked back to the mans face. "Could I get a beer? It doesn't really matter what brand."
He nibbled is lip and looked over his shoulder at the dancefloor, there were some people dancing- if that's what you could call it. He quickly looked back at the countertop, a frown forming. What was he getting all nervous about? This wasn't his first time breaking up with someone, he should be having the time of his life right now. That girl was a horrible person anyway. He snorted at the memory of her telling him how ridiculous he looked and how she was just using him to get an old boyfriend jealous anyway.

He crossed his arms and leaned on the counter a bit. He smiled and spoke softly to himself, "Nothing to do but continue rolling I suppose." That was all there was to it, if he hit a couple rocks on the way, well, that was life. He'd just need to dust himself off and start rolling again.

Boss' eyebrows shot together in annoyance at Walter's response letting a slight pout show on his boyish face. Rolling his eyes and taking a deep breath he shrugged it off and smiled to himself. Maybe he'd be as difficult as Jon after all...he needs a kitten. If he gets an apartment, I'll buy him a cat. An orange tabby named Orange! Barely able to contain his amusement, he took another glance at the annoyed expression almost perfectly concealed by Walter's professional attitude. It seemed Walter had had enough of him for the moment, and he could admit to needing more conversation than the sparse responses he could yank from his employee's teeth when he saw Walter quickly move to wipe the counter down for someone's arrival.

Boss leaned his head back to catch a look at the man leaving the elevator by himself, odd, people normally came to the club in groups. His hat tumbled off his head and fell onto his back where it hung by the string around his neck. Straightening himself up, he cocked his head to watch as the newcomer sat at the bar and ordered a beer.

Smiling, Boss called over to Walter, "Get him the Sam Adams summer ale, Blue." Turning to the patron he nodded his head and extend a palm, "Welcome to oneCLUB, my name's Boss. First time seeing you here, are you new to the area, visiting the city, or you just too busy to come to the best club in NYC?" He winked playfully at that last bit he said before reaching around his back to place his hat back on his head with a slight flourish.

Walter ignored the look, well used it by now before frowning at his response. He kept his face a mask of polite disinterest to hide his annoyance. A beer? There were a lot of beers. Light? Heavy? And of course, what flavour? He hated it when his customers did this, as more often than not it required him to ask them questions. He frowned lightly, ignoring the boy's murmurings. The boy looked like he couldn't really handle his liquor, but--

He stopped as Boss stepped in, looking up as he gave the other a much warmer and cheerful welcome. He sighed lightly before nodding. It was another thing that Walter reluctantly appreciated from Boss, how able and in tune the other seemed to his distresses. A faint ghost of a smile tugged at the corner of his lip before he quickly turned to fetch the drink. Boss always seemed to be around to save the day...

He listened to them in a detached interest as he took a cup out and opened the fridge to grab the bottle before placing it down on the counter. From his breast pocket he took out a small bottle opener before putting the end in his mouth and lifting the bottle to deftly remove the cap with well practiced movements. He glanced back as Boss spoke, pouring the beer to hit the center and bottom of the cup so that it didn't run down the sides and then placing the cup in front of the boy. He paused, eyeing him. "Do you have ID on you..?"

Timid Admirer

User Image Anthony blinked in shock at Boss before taking the offered hand and shaking it, smile broadening a bit. "Anthony. Nice to meet you..Boss." It didn't sound like it was the mans name but no point really asking. "Ah, well, actually I only moved here not too long ago. I go to university too so I don't come out to clubs often.." He would if he didn't spend most of his free time trying studying in the hopes his grades would improve, the fact that he enjoyed a simple coffee at home as opposed to bars with loads of people may or may not also be a part of it.
When Boss winked his eyes widened a bit, a little pink made its way onto his cheeks.

He quickly looked down at his drink when Walter set it infront of him, he smiled a thank you before making a confused face when the man asked if he had an ID. Oh, right- "Yes, here-" He reached into a pocket, looking for his wallet. He frowned and stood up, searching. He sighed in relief when he found it and pulled out his ID, showing it to him. "Sorry, here it is."
He supposed he looked a bit young, oh well, he was only twenty-two so it would be expected.

Boss' eyes followed as Walter turned to get the beer, smiling knowingly to himself before returning his attention to Anthony. "Anthony, and new to city. Well you are in the right place Anthony, the right city, the right time. There is nowhere better." With a grin he spread his arms wide nodding his head in the direction of his club with a laugh. "University? Really? Well we have a lot of the college crowd here, you might even see someone from your school if you're lucky, or not so lucky. What're you studying?" He grinned a little wolfishly when he saw the slight pink tinge the younger man's cheeks from his wink. Easy pickings...

As Walter placed the drink in front of Anthony the soft thud of the glass sounded much louder in his mind, Boss quickly switched from predator to friend with a guilty smile on his face as he scratched the back of his head aimlessly.

When Walter asked for his ID, Boss laughed, "Always the professional our bartender is." Boss nodded towards the drink in front of Anthony and warmly added, "That's one of my favorites, but I'm guessing you're not much of a drinker if you don't have a preference when you sit at a bar? Are you out celebrating?"

Timid Admirer

User Image Anthony nodded, "I'm sort of just taking french classes right now. It's a bit embarassing since i'm Canadian and we learn it in school there but then again I was never too good at anything back then. So i'm trying to make up for it now." He smiled awkwardly, taking a drink.

He set the drink down and looked at it, "Is it really that obvious?" He laughed lightly, "No, I don't drink much at all, maybe a glass of wine or something on New Years.." He took another drink, "You could say i'm celebrating I suppose. Actually I was dumped by my girlfriend today, though she was a pretty horrid person. So I guess i'm celebrating being single again?"
