~~~~~Azazel was hardly surprised that the woman seemed depressed, if anything he was more surprised that neither of the pair had put more effort into escaping the building. Though he supposed it was always possible that neither of them really believed most of what he was saying. They might still have a strong suspicion that they simply had some sort of trick door. "Demons?" Azazel asked thoughtfully. "Maybe in some of the rooms." He was only half kidding, and in general he found Curtis's attempts to make light of the situation a bit awkward. "If you need clean clothes you can probably just search around the unoccupied rooms. Most of them have a good amount of clothes so you'll probably eventually find stuff that fits." He wondered if he should go with them for that and decided against it, he could hardly be a babysitter for people who looked almost twice his age. "As long as you keep away from specifically dangerous area's it's really rather safe to move around the inn. You get used to the creepiness until you eventually stop noticing most of it" He supposed that growing up in a place where magic was a fact of life and not some mysterious force as it seemed to be to many people he had met both here and in general might make it easier for him to get used to certain aspects of the place. His and Airi's favorite room in the building scared people to the point of not wanting to even go there on principle. "I can show you the Library next if you want, but it tends to freak people out a little sometimes so be ready I suppose. Or you get check out your rooms a bit more if you want."
Pewter eyes met his yellow ones. She supposed she had been a little off after his nudge and it probably came off like she had some personal space issues.
Quite the contrary despite her life as a mostly solitary creature. His offer was kind and her milky skin was very sensitive to the cold. "Thank you, sir." She told him, slowly taking the coat from his arm and slipping it over her shoulders. The arms of the well worn jacket hung just over the tips of her fingers as her arms now dangled at her sides. His laughter was uplifting, but it was hard for Gil to consider joining it. As his Curtis' scent engulfed her, she glanced at the white haired child. "What's so eerie about it?" Her voice sounded confused at how a library could make most people turn tail and run.
Distinct Werewolf
"You are welcome." He smiled briefly and dipped his head, before addressing Azazel.
"Haha, only in some of the-" He shot the boy a suspicious scowl. The lack of sarcasm in his voice was disconcerting. He decided he most likely won't be exploring any rooms other than his own. At least not by himself. But as he walked along, he remembered the steps and the location of his room. The more he thought about it all, it was intimidating. Living in a house, whether seven floors or no, for the rest of one's life..it seemed cramped. Especially for a city socialite like himself.
"Mmhmm...I would rather know why the library is...uh, 'freaky' before visiting it." Curtis was considering that this is the part of the tour where he would break away. He never had a reason to visit a library, and especially not if there was some sort of dark arts about it. His curiosity won't get the better of him here.
~~~~~Azazel grinned slightly when he had managed to scare Curtis a little with his talk of demons. "They might gobble you up if you are not careful." He was rather clearly kidding this time, he had met demons here but hardly the type that he meant. "It's fine the only demons I've ever met here were other inhabitants." He hardly found the library creepy, if anything he liked it more for its uniqueness, it even reminded him of home a little to be surrounded by books but he still figured he should explain. "The space on the inside is significantly expanded beyond the rather small attic one would expect to walk into if you looked t the building from the outside. It's a bit strange but in my experience only superstitious types have been afraid of it." Azazel was glad that Curtis seemed to be the gentlemanly type, usually those types were also not the type to want to harm young people. In general he had the feeling that he had nothing to fear from the new pair but it was good to have more reasons to feel safer around them then just instinct that they seemed kind enough. "Do you like Libraries? I love them." There were quiet a few books that he was unable to read there, maybe these two might know the languages of some of the books that he was unable to read. He would ask them to have a look at some of them another time, after they had more time to settle in.

"I'm not very fond of cutting down trees.." Her voice was clear without being mean. And though she was not illiterate, she hardly found herself itching for a good book.

Gilrin now moved to lean against the wall, as if she needed it to stay upright. "What are we going to do?" Gray eyes looking to the gentleman, for he was the strongest of the three. Thus, the bravest. She sighed once, seemingly gaining some composure in the sharp breath. Things had been so much simpler before venturing into the bipedal realm.

Distinct Werewolf

"Gobble me up, pff." He scoffed at the thought, imagining the fight the imaginary demon would have to go through. "It would be in for a rude awakening."

"Superstitious, bah. Being spacious is hardly a reason for worry!" Not that Curtis wasn't superstitious- he was practically convinced the house was an act of Satanic witchcraft and all, but things could have been worse. His internal sense of pessimism liked to keep surprising him by assuming the worst. It was working well so far. "I'm not one for libraries usually. I like to keep up and moving. But..." He shrugged, looking back towards Gilrin. "Why don't we give it a peek? We are going to be here awhile anyways, right?" His natural grin lessened a bit with the last statement.

"Besides. I do think we'll go insane if we are stuck in smaller rooms all the time." Not that the suites were tiny, just not enough to account for the spaces usually allowed for him. Surely, he believed, Gilrin could feel the same in regards to her forest.

~~~~~He wondered why anyone would have a problem with cutting trees down, especially when one was using them to print books. Without cutting trees down he imagined civilization would be stalled quite a bit. Under normal circumstances he would have taken that as a good cue to argue his point but considering he was trying to make new friends he decided against it. Azazel nodded in mostly mock agreement with Curtis. "Oh indeed." He had no idea what exactly Curtis was, the man looked and smelled vaguely wolf like, but he also seemed rather human. The obvious answer was that he was some sort of lycanthropic creature but he knew it would be foolish to assume anything. He smiled and nodded when it was agreed that they would go to the Library, he was rather clearly exited to show them the place. "Oh it's so big and wonderful, and there are books that you'll have never heard of from all kinds of different places. There are even ones with magic in them that have a nice little section in the top." He hurried down the hall ahead of them and opened another door on the far end of the hall. Behind it there was a spiral stair case that led up.
His bravado did a good job of half convincing them both.
The scent, his scent, that permeated the jacket around her reminded her of that of wolves as well. Similar to the ones she had encountered among the trees but not quite the same. It almost scared her, but his kindness placed a sense of trust in her head. They both were hesitant of the library contrary to their host who seemed almost giddy.
She followed down the hall, looking at the somewhat ominous staircase before them. "Who do you think built this place?" She asked, her voice hinting that the owner was a little ridiculous.
Distinct Werewolf
"Magic books? How are they magic?" Curtis was rather clueless as to how any sort of book could be exciting, especially to a younger boy. He would have never been this excited about a library. Magic or not. He believed the boy had been sheltered here so long that he had no idea what fun was, though he did not comment on it. Maybe later, when he knew him better to pick on him.
Curtis looked up the staircase. "Whoever built it was mad." He shook his head, replying to her question with his own opinionated answer. "And you saw how many occupants it was designed for! The man probably wanted the entire town living in his walls." Though Curtis was still assuming the inn was located in his own city- not quite understanding the interwordly aspects of the building. "But what else is up here?"
Tipsy Mage
~~~~~Not really realizing the question was probably Aimed more at Curtis then at him this time Azazel answered it. "Whoever built it probably lost control of it, or perhaps abandoned it for some reason or another." He and Airi had thought up many other theories about the origins of the place, and heard the speculation of many others on the subject as well. So used to him was magic that he often forgot that most beings on foreign worlds were not even aware of the existence of the supernatural. While he was fairly certain Curtis was a Lycanthrope for all he knew he could be an average member of a humanoid species descended from wolves rather then primates somehow. He found it a little unlikely compared to his first theory but it was always possible. Or perhaps more likely was that despite being a Lycan he was unaware of magic in the sense he was thinking of. "I mean they are spell books." He supposed that Curtis might not believe him, proving he could do magic would hardly be difficult. Though he supposed that with the small bit of magic he was capable of while inside Cartesia's walls he would hardly be able to do anything particularly impressive if asked to prove it. Azazel made it to the top of the stairs and made a toothy grin, a grin that showed off that some of his teeth were slightly pointed. The library was big enough by itself to be its own separate building. It had two stories both with rather high ceilings that both had many rows of bookcases reaching to the ceiling and walls lined with bookcases. Both floors white about the same size were not decorated the same way, it almost seemed like the two floors were from different places altogether. "Isn't it neat?!" He spoke almost like a kid showing off a new toy."

She laughed again now as he expressed his judgments of the creator. This time it sounded much more natural as Gilrin was growing more and more used to the human vocal chords. Her docile eyes narrowed subtly as the boy smiled, taking in those sharp little teeth.

Her gaze moved to the masses of books int he rather large library. in awe of it's size she said, "Well it's certainly large enough" and stepped further in. She ran her fingers over the spines of a few books. The woman grabbed one and opened it, flipping through a few pages and walking back over to them. She looked up and lifted one gray eyebrow. "Do you think there is any book or spell in here that could make the door come back? Maybe the owner or someone left something, a key.." She threw her theory out, hoping Azazel had some insight.

Distinct Werewolf

"Spell books? So it is witchcraft or sorcery of some sort?" He ascended the stairs behind him. The thoughts of what would happen in his world if one were caught with books of that nature was dreadful. Witchhunts were never pretty and, of course, never ended well. He himself wouldn't step near them.

But giving Azazel the benefit of the doubt, he contributed the toothy grin to his imagination. He wouldn't dare call out names just yet, until he was more sure of himself, but a seed of what the children might be was planted in his head and he'll be paying more attention now. And with all the talk of magic and such, if he had his cross in his pocket as he usually would, he would be holding it right about now. His fingers searched for it there in his trousers pocket, but regrettably it wasn't to be found. Maybe in his jacket...

However, in the room, Curtis did raise his brows impressed.

"It is definitely awe-inspiring!" He wandered, stepping away from the two. He was busier being astounded by the architecture, and sheer expansiveness of the room rather than the books that inhabited it. Until the spell books were specifically pointed out, he avoided touching anything.

~~~~~Azazel nodded a few times. "We had one even bigger at home." He said almost wistfully. "And we actually could read most of the books back home, they weren't it weird confusing languages like alot of the ones here." Azazel thought about the question she asked for a few moments before he answered. "If so then we either haven't found it or can't read the words." Curtis's question was a bit less thought provoking then Gilrin's had been; he still answered it but he was still thinking about her question while he spoke so he sounded slightly distracted. "Yes sorcery, witchcraft, that sort of thing." He had almost been dismissive as he answered. If such a key did exist he had never seen it, or if he did he hadn't been able to identify it as such when he saw it. "It's entirely possible of course that if there is some key or control mechanism that it could be in one of the red marked or sealed off areas of the inn." He had shifted topics back to Gilrin's question. "We' have been in a few of the dangerous rooms in the past, so had others we've met, but none of them had anything that resembled a way to control this place. He wondered if the caves under the inn might conceal such a thing or location, there were so many places an object like that might be hidden and essentially inaccessible to anyone trying to get it.
She sighed, looking at Curtis, then down at the useless book in her hands.
"We either risk our lives, search an endless indecipherable library, trap souls, or rot away in here."It was a blunt outlook on their current reality and her voice seemed so massive in the expansive library. "Surely it can not be so hopeless.." Her voice had managed to find a way to become small and quiet. Gil ran cold pale fingers through her white hair, wishing it didn't seem so bleak.
Distinct Werewolf
"Delightful way to look at it." He commented, slipping more sarcasm into his voice than he meant to when speaking with a lady. "The way I see it, you..." It took him a minute to collect his thoughts. Attempting to find the 'silver lining' was difficult. There wasn't much to say and words failed him. He decided for a different approach, to hopefully lighten the mood once more "Well. They have only been here for nine months, correct? We have ample time to figure something out. Or at least get comfortable, correct?"
While he didn't like the idea of deciphering old text or wandering into godforsaken rooms, the small exchange between the two did bring his thoughts back to the possibility of bribing the house with whatever means necessary. He wasn't above doing anything particularly looked down upon.
"...What else might one do to distract oneself in this place? Aside from reading, or-" He shrugged, "Drinking."
