But after a while it gets to soft and rips.

That it does. But I prefer the old garbage can lid. Somewhat flexible and it it 85% chance it will not rip.

LoL. Yup. Plastic and Metal alike. Both work just fine. The plasic lids you have to cut off the trashcan though. Parents might get a little mad about that. But at least your your tounge wont stick to it.
