"Not to worry"
She replies with a grin before taking up the sword and heading outside.
Mel walks a short distance into the trees until she comes to a small clearing where she'd already had some of her ghouls construct a forge. Crouching down, she carefully unwraps the leather and rope with jewels from the hilt. Taking a cloth from her bag, she runs it twice down each side of the blade; the cloth has spells on it, care of a sorceress Mel knew, that would temporarily remove and contain the water elemental magic. She then settles the blade amongst the glowing embers. While it heats, Mel digs through her bag and produces several short lengths of different metals which she breaks pieces off of in measured amounts with tools from the bag. Taking the broken off bits, she places them into a vessel and then into the fire to heat.
Once the metals are combined and pliable, she snips off small pieces and fits them into the broken section of the sword. Mel then places the blade back into the fire for a short time, removes it to work over the metal with hammer and an assortment of small pick-like tools, then back into the fire. She repeats this process several times until the chipped area is filled. Finally she removes the blade from the forge a final time and plunges it into a cooling agent, sending clouds of steam billowing throughout the area. When the blade is cool, Mel removes takes it and goes over the whole thing with varying sizes of files, then polishes it until the metal gleams in the moonlight. The patch was flawless; it would be impossible to tell that the sword had ever been broken, or even used, as she'd taken the opportunity to fix all other nicks and scratches that came from regular use too.
By the light of the dying fire Mel reattaches the leather and rope with jewels (which she'd cleaned while waiting for the metal to heat) to the hilt with another assortment of small tools. When this is done she takes the cloth that was retaining the sword's magic and runs it twice down each side of the blade again, returning said magic to its rightful place on/in the blade. After carefully wrapping the sword, Mel orders the ghouls to deconstruct the forge then leave the area. Picking up her bag and the blade she heads back toward the Blue Moon; it was several hours after she'd left so Mel wasn't surprised when there was nobody around upon her return. She sets the wrapped sword on the counter before proceeding upstairs for the remainder of the night.
