Okay, so I don't know what my alchemist name would be, I wouldn't want to join the military anyway. My sister was in it and she's gone now; MIA since the Ishvalian Rebellion. Personally, I'm an alchemist of Air. I'm pretty good at too.
I've got a deck of cards that my sister came up with. On each card has it's own unique feel and transmutation circle. I use these in combat, to quickly attack with a blast of air and to soar into the sky so that I am unreachable. If you really piss me off, I'll just pull all the air out of your lungs as if you'd just fell from some high place and landed on your back. You'd be able to breathe correctly in a few minutes, just next time, you'd remember not to get on my nerves.
I'm pretty lazy, so I spend most of my time floating from place to place instead of walking like a normal person. You'll usually find me in high places. Such as on a roof, in a tree, lying on top of the book shelves of the library. Though, if I'm in the library, there's a likely chance I'm just sleeping.
I know how to do some other basic alchemy, but not much. And I'm not too good at it as I am with manipulating air since I've studied that more than any other form of alchemy.
When you say 'air' do you mean the oxygen in the air, or the composition of the air as a whole(carbon dioxide, water vapor, oxygen, nitrogen. I'm sorry for being a nerd and complicating things, because if you can do the former, your just a spark short of a rapid expansion of combustable gases. If your the latter, then, that's kind of cool, and would totally help in my plant based alcchemy research.
I say air loosely because I'm not really sure which. haha, I just know it's air, cause I liked "Avatar: the last air bender" and then imagine doing something similar. That, and I'm also an air sign, so I like most things with air.
I do know to float, you'd have to lower the air pressure beneath the object, so... that's different from com-busting oxygen. I think of Lira from the first series when I think of attacking people with air though, so whatever exactly she did.
