Ever watch Dgimon?
My favorite was the 3rd-Series, "Impmon" & his journey...
At first he is bothersome, then gradually becomes friendly.
But so very stubborn, he eventually goes Bad for the sake of Power...

Later, Leomon attempt to stop Impmons' Mega-Digivolution "Beelzemon", from destroying his former Friends, and is killed in a blind-anger...
Sorrowful for what he has done, "Beelzemon" later redeems himself, attempting to rescue Leomons' Tamer.
Battling the "D-Reaper", he is seemingly destroyed after a hard fought battle...
Even summoning a derivitive of Leomons' Techniques,
"Shadow of the Beast-King" in his desperate bid at redemption, releasing the Depressed-Tamer out of her Despair.
