Actually, to be honest, Bella seems to be more on the side of a "Mary-Sue" character than Edward, but I don't define either of them as "Mary-Sue". Sure, Edward's "dark and mysterious" at the beginning at the novels, but that is how Bella perceives him at the beginning of the novel, for you are in her thoughts. Plus, I'm impressed with Ms. Meyer's new take on vampires. Edward can not totally be considered "Mary-Sue", because he is a totally unique type of vampire with interesting abilities and antics. And he is nowhere near perfect. He has and does make plenty of mistakes during his life (New Moon is a prime example). Personally, it's Bella's point-of-view on Edward being perfect that irritates most. However, if I was in Bella's position, I would be thinking the exact same thoughts. >.>;;
