Internet Relay Chat! It is a super oldschool program for chatting online from like, the dawn of the internet. And I miss it.

Okay, looks like you're not on the right server. You want synirc, not webirc, I believe. Not sure how you actually change that on your client, heh.

okay...hmm...go to where it says connect to and click the "server" link. Look for irc.synirc.org, and if you can't find it, find a way to add it and do that. That's all I can think.

This is the worst part, just because there are so many IRC clients, and if you don't all get the same one, it can all be different. If you don't already have one though, you can just get one of the ones Caden or I are familiar with and we can actually talk you through it
