okay, I foresee this coming up a lot, so we better just clarify this now. IRC can, potentially, be this big complicated thing. But for our purposes it would just be logging into a client and going into a chatroom and...chatting. That's it. Not at all complicated.

Haha, I remember Back In The Day trying to download fansubs from IRC chatrooms. And yeah, that was complicated and insane, but just regular old chatting is pretty simple.

You'd have to download an IRC chat client and connect to the server, and then it's just a chat room. Dark will probably put info about how to do that in the first post of the thread. And then we can just pop in whenever we feel like it and see if anyone's around.

I used to chat on IRC all the time and I sorta miss it >.>

Hmm. Sounds like some of us with terrible cycles might be in trouble, but interesting~
how is IRC different from. say, Skype? Skype has rooms or some such, we used it for the thing that
didn't work out very well...

It does nothing but text chat, so it can run on basically any computer, which I think is the best thing about it.
