Yeah for some reason it always ends up in an argument and a comparison game whenever religion is brought up. I don't see what's there to rage about, perhaps people prefer living in ignorance.
Lifestyle Discussion forum is filled with cats, dogs and frogs hiding behind avatars. That's why I stick to FC, decent people here.

So are you a revert or born Muslim?

I know i don't like how it always ends up in fights. I don't want to fight about religion i want to talk about it and learn from them smile

I am a revert. smile and very happy biggrin what about you?

Oh that's great to know, welcome to Islam. smile
How did you come to learn about it?

I was born Muslim, I did a comparative study of all the religions when I was 16 and Alhamdulillah I became a much better Muslim after that.

A guy on another site that spoke almost no english gave me verses from the quran and i loved them. I love words and they were beautiful. I thought he had written them at first haha.
After that i decided i wanted to learn more about the religion that followed these words. I didn't study for very long because a muslim that i had found on the site said that i should convert and then learn more because you don't know when you will die and not get the chance to convert. I knew i wanted to do it so i did.

But what makes me sad is i didn't mark the day that i reverted and i have horrible memory but when it comes to time it is much worse. I believe i converted in April or May so i have been a muslim for 9-10 months.

I also had learned about other religions before reverting. Not all of them but i had a class in school that talked about religions and i had my christian friends and my wiccan dad, so i knew about other religions first and at the time i was learning Islam i was actually reading the bible too. It didn't make very much sense to me.

You see this is the miracle of Islam, when someone is called to it, they accept it with an open heart. When I tried to invite someone, it took over 5 months to convince them and still they bailed out when the time came. You are indeed smart to over look the minor details and see the broader picture of Islam.

If you ever have anything to ask, feel free to ask me. My opinion and study of Islam is unbiased, you will meet so many who will tell you different ways to go about the same matter since people have divided up into sects. But the only two things to be followed are the Qur'an and the Hadith since there are no divisions in Islam, let no one else tell you otherwise.

Didn't your dad or friends have anything to say about converting?

I will make sure i ask you if i have any questions.

My dad was happy for me because he doesn't care what religion i am as long as i didn't convert for a boy, it makes me a better person, and it makes me happy. Which is all true smile

none of my friends really minded and this one friend that told me when i was younger that she was scared i would go to Hell because i wasn't a christian she was fine with it and offered to go to the Islamic center in my town with me. We are not very close any more but it as really nice of her.

My mom was the one that was upset and she was upset because she thinks all muslim men treat women like they are less than men. She told me that she didn't raise me to be less than a man and i know that i am not. It doesn't matter what religion i am I will never be considered less than a man. Men and women are not the same but women are not less then men.

Now that's a dad. Yeah converting for a boy can mess up your life in so many ways haha. Boys are unreliable, I am one so I know xD

I've never had lifelong friends, times change and interests change, eventually everyone moves on and friends get replaced. Mind if I ask where you're from? smile

Couldn't have said it better myself, men and women are different but not less than one another. Both are unique having their own roles.

yes that is what i believe about men and women and my mom even raised my and my sister knowing that certain things are guy things. just simple things like taking out the trash and shoveling snow but she still separated it so i don't know why she has such a problem now.

too me there is less of a separation in roll except for little things but in my dad's house his wife cooks and cleans and takes care of house things while her works so i have seen those rolls before.I would rather have the roll of my stepmom than my mom hahahaha

HMM where to start, living here depends from place to place. I'm living in Karachi, it's an industrial city so it's kind of overpopulated in some parts. The best part about living here is if you're financially independent, you can live your life the way you want it. There's no problem that money can't handle here haha.

There are mosques everywhere and you can hear the call for prayer round the clock. My personal favourite time of the day is the morning prayer, when it's eerie quiet and the only sound you can hear is the Azaan.

The worst part of living here is dealing with the uneducated class of people, they are ill-tempered and ill-mannered and stubborn. There's not many of them around, but when you find one it's best to ignore and move along.
I could go on and on about living here but I'm a little short on time, I'll write more when I'm back xD

It sounds like a good town and i would love to learn more about it.

I wish i could hear the Athan but i have never heard it before except from the computer. I think it would be wonderful to hear all of the time smile

The town i live in is a factory town. We have 2 really big factories so in certain parts of town it smells bad. And we get snow, that i what i dislike the most hahaha.Well and it is not really safe to walk around at night here, we have some bad people.
