Give kids "OMGZ HAWT" vampires and an unoriginal romance plot and you've got yourself a famous YA novel. 3nodding
Or dragons. *cough*

Anyways, I probably wouldn't read this book, not because of my age, but because (1) the fanbase makes me want to choke kittens, (2) I've gone over some snippets of the prose, and while Meyer can string a sentence together, she most certainly can't make that sentence not-cliched, or interesting for that matter.

Although I can't decide which is worse, I have to admit that the prose in Twilight is a lot better than Eragon... still sappy, but atleast not over-blown.

And Fujiko, I don't know if you'll come back here, but I'm totally your fangirl xd

*clears throat* Eragon is to dragons, as Twilight is to what?

Or, Twilight is to Supernatural-romance novels, as Eragon is to ?

Cookie goes to the first person to guess either one! 3nodding

Twilight is to Vampires?

Eragon is to Fantasy?

I do admit, they are cliche. But I'm a total sap, so I like it. :'D

Yay! Cookie for you!

A more specific answer for the second one would have been "epic-dragon-riding-fantasy-trilogy" But I'll take your answer too.
HahXD I was going to answer "epic fantasy", but... I couldn't think of the word "epic". Don't ask me why.

I have only read a little bit of the book, where Bella and Edward meet, and already it seemed that everything was too perfect. Where are all the ugly vampires and why can't they fall in love?

I'm curious if you honestly think ugly vampires will make this book any better.
It's kind of laughable you think the appearance of these supernatural beings is what makes it bad.

Who said that's the only thing? And, although I can't speak for the OP, I would like to see some ugly people. I hate media that implies that only beautiful people are interesting and deserve love. (Ie: Twilight)

How exactly does it imply only beautiful people are interesting and deserve love?

Perhaps you missed something.
confused

Bella, though a Mary Sue, is definitley not a gorgeous, beautiful, interesting, person. According to what I have read of SM's description of Bella she is average looking.

Also where in the book does it ever imply that the only reason Bella loved Edward was because he was beautiful? And since when have the Cullens/Hales ever been merely people? They are supernatural, immortal, vampires. Maybe that's why they are interesting and oddly beautiful.

I agree with an earlier post that yes, this is a sappy, ms/gs, cliché(ish) novel though.

Where does it say that the only reason Bella "loves" Edward is for his face? Try the fact that she mentions how beautiful he is just about every other paragraph, but, in 270 pages, I have yet to see her mention anything else xp

Ms. Meyer made the vampires beautiful. She also made them perfect. This implies, to me, that her idea of "perfect" is "beautiful", among other things. Maybe I'm wrong, though, I've never been very good at analyzing.

Lol!
Bella thinks Edward is beautiful, but I disagree that's the only reason (if reason at all) she loves him. What about the many times he's saved her life? The comfort he gives her?

Hmm. I don't think being a (possibly) souless, immortal, bloodsucking, murdering, violent, creatures is exactly perfect. Do you?

I really don't think there's a reason behind their "love". I think Ms. Meyer wanted to write a girl and a vampire who were in love and Poof! Made it so stare Butanyway! Like I said, she definitely brings his beauty to our attention more than she does the other things, which leads me to think that either it's more important to her or Ms. Meyer wasn't thinking about her writing. Or bothXP

I think Ms. Meyer thinks they are! And that's what matters in the books. Granted, though, I haven't gotten to the actual, hard-core, vampire stuff (if it exists at all), so I can't say for sure. On the flipside, the way it's presented is this: Ed is a vampire, but he doesn't want to be, therefore the vampire thing can't really count against him. However, his beauty is a good thing, so it can be counted in his favour. ...Which is poor, irritating writing stressed
I loathed it.

It was arguably one of the most insipid books I've ever read. The protagonist is a rage-inducing Mary Sue character ("I'm soooo beautiful but only hordes of boys notice me and compliment me *sniff*. I am so tragically clumsy!" wink . The love interest is an extremely flat character whose only redeeming quality is his apparent good looks--which are never fully elaborated on--we just know that he looks good. The chemistry was horrendously boring as well. They speak, he ignores her, and in the equivalent of five literary minutes later, they are ardently and passionately in love.

It read like a badly written fanfiction.

Vomit-inducing.
Amen to that! I hated how she was annoyed that they liked her. I mean, what a stuck-up b***h!
I concur.

It was almost condescending. It reminded me very much of high school, when you'd have the one pretty girl whining about, "Oh, whichever one shall I choose? I have so many people wanting to go to prom with me!" (or something equally insipid). Meanwhile, the rest of the female population would want to beat her.

Let the debate continue!

Anyway, as a *large* member of society. I get tired of reading books where everyone is beautiful and skinny. And yes, I know Bella is average looking, but she must look pretty good to get all those guys. And Edward is... well, you all know.

One example that comes to mind is Esme, when she is first introduced, she's described as slender, yet curvy. Why not make her larger? Is fat not up to vampire beauty standards?

Anyway, take not this is not just Twilight. But it annoys me all the same.
its just... i dunno
I like it
I admit, everyone is pretty "perfect" in the whole ******** book/s
even mike/jessica and those other characters
but ... im a sap
XD
