I loved Twilight and New Moon. Then again, I'm into sappy romance girl gets guy, guy gets girl in the end. I try and look at it this way (not just with this book but with most) I know how it's going to end, I don't care right this second. Right now the thing I'd like to know is how it's going to get there. Plus, it gives a sense of hope that maybe there is a love that can survive, that will survive for eternity but then again underneath it all the real reason he's attracted to her is her blood which gives the sense of animalistic behavoir...anyway, yes it is overdone but then again what isn't these days?

I like the series but I hate all the people that just started to read it because New MOON has became so popular. I read Twilight when it first came out and wait for 2 years for New Moon..... I hate Edward fangirls we get the point he is hot , but he is not real!!!!

Shankers the French people on your wall scare me.....

I can't stand all of the Twilight threads that keep popping up. Last time I checked, there were three hate threads on the front page.

Sorry 'bout that (if it's true). The reason I made this thread was because I was browsing and saw a bunch of Twilight treads, but no threads critiquing it. If this has already been done a lot (which I didn't see), I apologize.

Eh, I think you're safe. I couldn't find any other ones...

Give kids "OMGZ HAWT" vampires and an unoriginal romance plot and you've got yourself a famous YA novel. 3nodding
Or dragons. *cough*

Anyways, I probably wouldn't read this book, not because of my age, but because (1) the fanbase makes me want to choke kittens, (2) I've gone over some snippets of the prose, and while Meyer can string a sentence together, she most certainly can't make that sentence not-cliched, or interesting for that matter.

O hai thurrr~

Personally I like the books. They aren't by any means my favorite books, but I think they're good enough. I like pretty much everything with vampires and werewolves in it, and the storylines good enough. The perfectness of the characters does get a tad annoying at times, but I can put up with it.

Although I can't decide which is worse, I have to admit that the prose in Twilight is a lot better than Eragon... still sappy, but atleast not over-blown.

And Fujiko, I don't know if you'll come back here, but I'm totally your fangirl xd

Elisabeth/Der Tod: Everything Bella/Edward should have been, but were too weak to even dream of being.

Cold, dead, and sparkling = "Tall, dark, and handsome" for the sexually batshit.

Meh, I thought it was good. It's nothing different, but it's well written and really pulls you in with its above-average, seductive prose. But all in all, not worth the hype.

Laridae
Yep, I hate the books.

Actually, I mostly hate New Moon. It just isn't realistic that Bella goes catatonic for three months because her boyfriend leaves her. Then she goes and uses Jacob for her own ends, knowing that he's obsessed with her. I hope Jacob kills Edward and Bella. That's probably not going to happen, but a girl can dream.
rofl You rule!

I know what all of you mean, but I must say that I love Twilight and New Moon and probaly will for a while. But, I'm only 14 and sooner or later I will find a better book and get out of the Teen Fiction genre.

Still, Edward is to die for! ^_^

Same for me! I didn't wait two years, but I did wait 1 year for New Moon. I am also in the midst of waiting for Eclipse.

I was totally dissapointed by Twilight. Everybody on this forum was raving about it so I decided to try the book. It was just un-original and I didn't 'connect' with any of the characters. I don't think it really deserves the hype. I'm normally a fan of well written 'supernatural' books but this was nothing special. I'll stick with Anita Blake.

Pointless Insanity
I haven't read it; The majority of the fan basis kind of piss me off and turn me away from it. neutral

I read it and loved it, but I actually read it BEFORE it was waaaaaay too popular for its own good.
I bought it the day after it came out and had never heard of it before...
It annoys me that THIS many people like it.
And this thread is very refreshing actually...

I'm on the right.
We were really excited about our drink.

I don't hate it, but I don't love it. I expected it to be alot better than it was. It's a decent book, but just not as good as people make it seem and i'm happy to find people who agree with me on this!

*clears throat* Eragon is to dragons, as Twilight is to what?

Or, Twilight is to Supernatural-romance novels, as Eragon is to ?

Cookie goes to the first person to guess either one! 3nodding
