You, sir, strike me as a bright guy
biggrin I replied to you on the previous page, BTW.
As a writer myself, I know what it's like to take criticism. All the people that have ever said 'Don't be harsh because I don't like criticism...' It's like... Look at what you're doing. Writing is all about criticism and being able to accept it, and if you're smart, put that criticism to action. I do the same in the prose forum. If people say they can't handle criticism, I give my opinion to them straight up, no saying 'I liked it,' or 'It was okay'... or even.. 'Good'... I want to tell them the truth. Writers need to be able to handle the truth.
For me, when I've been told to rewrite something cause it just doesn't sound right, I do. I may not like it, but it always turns out that after rethinking a scene or even a huge section of a story, it turns out way better once I've had more time to think on it.
@Minari: I can totally see what you're saying about expressing certain feelings through actions. There are definitely a lot of things she could have done. I just read it to see what her writing style is, and looking at mine to see what I could improve on, even though we don't have a writing style. Reading helps see how different authors write, so you can eventually develop your own. ^.^
