The reason why it is rumoured that Friday the 13th is a day of bad luck is because at the last supper where Jesus and his disciples sat down for dinner Judas was the last person to sit at the table tallying the number of people eating there at 13. Early the next morning he betrayed Jesus and Jesus was killed that very day. That day was a Friday.

Yeah, that's a dumb reason for it. Also untrue. Ankh already pointed out at least one reason why folks these days consider Friday the 13th bad luck. The rest is just memetic mutation as the reasons behind it got lost and murky. And then there's all those movies and shows that have come up in the last century that portray it as a day when malevelent things come out and actively try to kill you.

Not saying it's right or anything, but I heard that Friday the Thirteenth is considered bad luck because the Knights Templar, or Templar Knights depending on how you say it, were all condemned to death on Friday the Thirteenth. Apparently, every single knight was killed that day. None escaped.
