People also do not like Calico, Solid white, and Tortoise Shell.
What's that leave? Tabbies and Two Color Cats?
Some areas of the US have problems with people tortureing and killing Black Cats around Halloween and Friday the 13th.
It's the United States ( or the colonies here) that decided to be contradictory and hate on... even kill Black Cats. The rest of the world believed and most still believes that Black Cats are good luck.
While Calicos are the second hardest to sell in most of the US, they are the most popular in and most sought after in Asia.
By the way, anyone who says their family came over on the Mayflower or with Christopher Columbus is continueing lies as popular as the messed up superstitions and believes here. I don't even know how Christopher continued his work, his ships got destroyed. A ship is was on was completely destroyed and all the men lost. Some how he was found and brought back. That was the Santa Maria I think. One of those ships people claim their family came here on. The majority of the people to come in here the first 150ish years died. I mean,.. they died right away. They didn't like die of old age or die after a couple decades. It was extremely rare for people to make it two years. 99.9% died in under a year. So noone is related to people that were on the Mayflower. While I am at it, Christopher Columbus' name wasn't Christopher Columbus. That's just more misinformation we are taught and accept. I can't even remember his name right now. Columbo or Columbine was some where in his name. Something like that.
So, yes,.. in the US Black Cats are the hardest to get rid of and also hold most often killed title as well. A solid Black Cat in say Japan is one of the most expensive Domestic Felines you can get there. The set superstition there is that owning a Black Cat will give you tons and tons of money, wind falls, sucess in your jobs, you will win the lottery. So the most expensive Domestic Feline color is Black in Japan. The ultimate combo would be if you managed to find a Solid Black Cat that has one Silver (blue) eye and one Gold (yellow) eye. Because Silver + Gold is good luck and a gift or sign from God as well as bring wealth and power.
Random thing we are missing out here... You may know Cats are assosiated with Witches. You might have heard of Toads and Frogs being mixed in with Magical Human's pets. In many countries one of the top competitor for Pet/Familar for Humans who have Magical ablities or study Magic is the Crow. Some Countries put Crow as top in the order of pets and Cat as second. European countries tend to have Cat for first and Crow for 2nd.
BTW, 13 use to be Lucky. Most of the world still believes it is Lucky. But Christianity leaned towards 7 and 11 so 13 phased out and has become unlucky.
It's sad to see so many ignorant people who think a black cat is unlucky. Though it's been stated already black cats are lucky in more than just Asia. I've owned black cats before, they're just as affectionate as any other cat I've had and right now I black kitten with orange spots and a calico. I wouldn't trade them for anything.
::. Aw that's horrible!
My friend down the road had a litter,
I told him do not get rid of that black kitten,
And she's the best cat I've ever had.
Litter trained extremely quickly,
gets along great with my rabbit,
and always keeps me company. <3 .::
