THE WARMAKERS

Story

Several years ago, a young, hard-boiled teen came to Gaia with little memory of his past but many ambitions of greatness. In this spot, once the Durem Reclamation Facility, he hid out in a shack and the labyrinthine sewers of the facility after trashing the NeoPolice Department's lounge. The NPD is now but a forgotten acronym and this scarred land is far from what it once was, but the ambition lives on.

To be continued.

Alignment

Chaotic Neutral

Aim

IC: To loot, plunder, and--true to both FFA and our name--make war. Because we're all fighters who revel in glorious combat.

OOC: To roleplay unselfconsciously and spark a little activity into this board.

Description

arrow The World
Gaia: a lynchpin of times and realms, its geography varied; we see deserts, mountains, rolling plains, vast wastelands, and restless seas. Order in most things has been lost, and almost nothing is dependable. The sun does not always rise in the right place, and sometimes does not even complete its arc across the sky. Time seems to run at different intervals hither and yon, and thinnies in reality often offer no distinction between one area and the next. The world seems sparsely populated and dangerous, filled with mutants both human and animal. Vast swaths of land are irradiated from ancient wars. Relics of the olde world's technology exist mainly in perverted, deranged, or damaged forms that usually threaten instead of help the last remnants of civilization. Among this all, daemons and robots wander, and governments rarely extend beyond the towne level.

arrow The Crater
The only thing left of the old Warmaker lands, in what was once the Durem Reclamation Facility, is a giant crater one kilometer deep and four wide. The barren landmark is surrounded by rocky cliffs and steep inclines, a basalted realm torn to the brim and populated only by the occasional scraggly tree or mesa.

arrow The Forests
At the center of the wastes is an obscure oasis, a large lake at the center surrounded by dense forest.

arrow The Ruins
Once a grand castle, this is now what residents call home. It sits on the southern shore of the lake. At the moment, all that exists is a crumbling, four-story shell, marked by moth-eaten tapestries and old castle flags that flap like rotted pennants in the wind. It's in a small niche at the center of the shambles that renovation has begun.

Defenses

Sandwyrms: The wastes are a breeding ground for long, serpentine creatures reportedly growing up to one hundred feet long. They bide their time and bite, tunneling underground, coming to the surface only to feed. Dormant at night.

Dinosaurs: The byproduct of genetic engineering and recombinant RNA "art" by the ARNists before the majority of mankind disappeared from Olde Earth. A number of prehistoric animals seem to have made their homes in and around the crater.

Wolves: A pack of large, intelligent canines roams the forest by moonlight (steering clear of the dinosaurs). They eat intruders.

Golems: Leather-hooded figures said to have been conjured by Ertai from the very walls of the old castle some time ago. These mysterious servitors patrol the lands to the fringes of the crater with their awkward grace and stand sentinel about the forests. They also do the bidding of castle inhabitants and provide transportation through the forest paths and lands by way of droshky.

"Sanctuary": For some reason, flying devices fail to function over the crater, as does any method of teleportation into the area. The restrictive field stretches all the way up to the Kármán line of the planet.

No strings or profiles attached. I'd rather meet your character through roleplay than by looking at his profile/MySpace. If you want in, come post IC, and you'll either be allowed to stay or not. The more, the merrier.

The humming noises of a hovercraft's engine could be heard in the distance...

oh. mother. ********.
*Dashes out of shack and makes a run for sewer opening above waterfall spilling into river below.*
"How'd they find me!?" he whispers to himself, splashing off through the water and hoping to get as deep into the tunnels as he can before it's too late.

Sadly for Garbagekid, the SA-67 'Scout' had a thermal lock on the wanted criminal. Unless he got outside of the 40 mile detection range, Garbagekid's attempted escape would be a waste of energy.

The Scout sped forward, its 20mm MG pivoting in every direction to check for other hostiles.

*A NPD Mobile Base came to a stop by turning sideways. Its sidedoor opened as 10 NPD Officers jumped out carrying Destroyer Heavy Rifles. One of the men pointed*

Sergent J. Barrows: OVER THERE! GET HIM!

Officer M. Jarvis: SWITCH TO THERMAL TRACKING! Get him! Go!

*The officers quickly persued after the man*

*The garagekid could hear heavy thuds on the ground right above the sewers, and thought to himself that he'd better get deeper, fast. If he could make it into the actual sewer pipes soon enough, perhaps they couldn't pursue him with fast or high-tech machinery. As he turned the corner and slid down a ladder into darker, more narrow sewer area, he thought he could hear the echoes of splashing footfalls at the tunnel gate.*

*The audiometer picked up the noise and in the HUD of the officers a large arrow appered*
Sergent J. Barrow: Goddamit! Hes in the ******** sewers! Lets go! Katz, Lu, you stay on the surface
Officesr Kats and Lu: Right, sir!
*The other 8 officers slid down into the sewers, ctivting thermal tracking*
Sergent J. Barrow: FREEZE! NPD!
*He fired a few low shots aimed at the man*

Raven's Interceptor shot towards the Warmaker's Guild. Both 133-7 "Event Horizon" ion engines made a loud noise that could be heard for nearly a mile as he slammed his foot on the brake, kicked the door open, and rolled out. As a reflex, Raven ripped his MagSec 9 out of its holster mid-roll.

Seeing no suspect, Raven stood and approached Lu and Katz cautiously.

"Where is the b*****d?"

Raven did his best to ignore the annoying humming noise of the SA-67's engine.

Ray Van!
Raven Yun: Well...
Raven Yun: Crim has her blonde moments.
Raven Yun: Way too many of them.
Officer Katz: Hes underground, the sergent is leading an 8-man team down there. He instructued us to wait here
*Katz peered down the hole*
