Description
arrow The World
Gaia: a lynchpin of times and realms, its geography varied; we see deserts, mountains, rolling plains, vast wastelands, and restless seas. Order in most things has been lost, and almost nothing is dependable. The sun does not always rise in the right place, and sometimes does not even complete its arc across the sky. Time seems to run at different intervals hither and yon, and thinnies in reality often offer no distinction between one area and the next. The world seems sparsely populated and dangerous, filled with mutants both human and animal. Vast swaths of land are irradiated from ancient wars. Relics of the olde world's technology exist mainly in perverted, deranged, or damaged forms that usually threaten instead of help the last remnants of civilization. Among this all, daemons and robots wander, and governments rarely extend beyond the towne level.
arrow The Crater
The only thing left of the old Warmaker lands, in what was once the Durem Reclamation Facility, is a giant crater one kilometer deep and four wide. The barren landmark is surrounded by rocky cliffs and steep inclines, a basalted realm torn to the brim and populated only by the occasional scraggly tree or mesa.
arrow The Forests
At the center of the wastes is an obscure oasis, a large lake at the center surrounded by dense forest.
arrow The Ruins
Once a grand castle, this is now what residents call home. It sits on the southern shore of the lake. At the moment, all that exists is a crumbling, four-story shell, marked by moth-eaten tapestries and old castle flags that flap like rotted pennants in the wind. It's in a small niche at the center of the shambles that renovation has begun.
Defenses
Sandwyrms: The wastes are a breeding ground for long, serpentine creatures reportedly growing up to one hundred feet long. They bide their time and bite, tunneling underground, coming to the surface only to feed. Dormant at night.
Dinosaurs: The byproduct of genetic engineering and recombinant RNA "art" by the ARNists before the majority of mankind disappeared from Olde Earth. A number of prehistoric animals seem to have made their homes in and around the crater.
Wolves: A pack of large, intelligent canines roams the forest by moonlight (steering clear of the dinosaurs). They eat intruders.
Golems: Leather-hooded figures said to have been conjured by Ertai from the very walls of the old castle some time ago. These mysterious servitors patrol the lands to the fringes of the crater with their awkward grace and stand sentinel about the forests. They also do the bidding of castle inhabitants and provide transportation through the forest paths and lands by way of droshky.
"Sanctuary": For some reason, flying devices fail to function over the crater, as does any method of teleportation into the area. The restrictive field stretches all the way up to the Kármán line of the planet.
