Rules & Guidelines for Posting in Free For All
Thread Requirements
In the FFA, each thread must contain certain information to stay in the forum. This information helps those who wish to attack your guild have a good understanding of what lies in wait for them. On top of this, the information helps keep fights and combat in the thread easy going, preventing the defenders or attackers from altering the setting outside of the original design.
Story/Background of your thread: What has drawn your thread to creation? What In-Character forces have brought your organization together to be what it is today? When thinking of the thread's background, please provide at least a paragraph of information. There is no maximum to how long this can be, and as the thread grows in size, and events happen in-character, the story can even be modified to reflect this, if the owner of the thread wishes.
A Description of your thread's base of operations: From a compound deep in the sandy desert, to a castle which flies in the sky, every thread is required to provide a description of how their base is set-up. All FFA threads must have a base of operations, that has the potential of being attacked at anytime in-character. When working on a base description, it helps others and prevents confusion if the surrounding terrain is described in detail, as well as how the base is formed.
The use of pictures to get around typing a physical worded description is against the FFA rules and will be seen as incomplete. Pictures are allowed, however a worded description is needed.
Base Defenses: Many places are guarded with objects that are stationary, or are nothing more than creatures with weapons. If the thread's base has any form of defense outside of the members of the thread, this is where they need to be listed.
Please note that traps and hidden defenses need to be listed, however the location of these items may remain a secret until someone runs into them in-character. If such a defense is to be used, they must remain in the same area at all times. Thread's that are caught moving hidden defenses around to counter a situation will be removed for the forum.
During combat in a thread, the adding of base defenses secretly (editing the post to add extra turrets, for example) is forbidden, as it can be used to quickly change the flow of battle unfairly.
Thread Rules: Every thread needs a set of rules in order to operate in the FFA. When a thread is created, the thread creator should take into consideration how they want to limit technology, magic use, the use of weapons of mass destruction, on top of many, many other scenarios. A solid, well-defined rules list can result in better understanding on how a thread stands on subject matter, which can result in better role playing opportunities.
During combat, if a character breaks a rule in the thread which combat is currently being handled, and the current on-line members fail to point out the breach of the rules, any attempts to alter the action are void. The FFA requires all breaches of rules to be handled as they are encountered.
Member List: Who all is affiliated with the thread's organization? The member list is the thread's list of people who are allowed to enforce the rules of the thread, and role play out the defenses in action. Only users listed on a thread's member list are allowed to use base defenses, and are the only one's allowed to void attacks and punish rule breakers.
General FFA Rules
All threads in the Free For All sub forum are always open to being attacked. Even if users of the thread are off line, attacks may be started. Please note that if a thread has zero members posting and an attack is launched, the next post should be a member of the thread replying to the attack, or making some form of an in-character post in the thread itself (Even if it is directed at something else). Posting multiple times in a row in order to “dominate” a thread is forbidden.
If a thread forbids the use and role playing of certain mechanics (magic, guns, psionics are such examples), both members and attackers must follow this rule. This includes threads that contain or are based around in terms of defenses and structure what another thread forbids (A thread that forbids magic use is forbidden from attacking a magic based thread, for example).
Having a base defense that prevents other user's from attacking by making the base invulnerable to attack, or untouchable in every sense, is forbidden in the FFA. All base defenses must have some way to being bypassed, destroyed, or otherwise rendered in-operable.
Banning a user from a guild for breaking the guild's rules only lasts until the guild attacks a guild the banned user is in. The banned user must be on the member list of the guild in order to be considered eligible. Guilds that contain users who are known to be troublesome to the attacking guild should be avoided.
Banning users from a guild is a last resort option. It should only be done if the user refuses to follow guild rules, or the user is violating the Terms of Service in the guild. Any guild that abuses the right to prevent people from posting for incidental reasons (first time breach of thread rules, no reason) will be removed from the forum.
