I figured the hoodlum that Red always hung out with for the Big Bad Wolf. My guess for sheriff would be the queen's huntsman. Good at tracking, familiar with the woods, and tied in with the queen while still a decent person. But he is the trickiest so far to be sure.

That's what I thought as well...though regarding Ruby and her "hoodlum" I can only picture what I remember of the trailer to that newish "Red Riding Hood" movie. Blerg. At first I kind of thought that the newspaper editor was the huntsman ("I assure you it's one of my better hatchet jobs" hur hur) before I realized he was the mirror. I'm just saying if Graham turns out to be the Big Bad Wolf I'm gonna rage, then probably sit down and continue watching.
Off topic, but I really liked "Red Riding Hood" it wasn't a masterpiece, but it was good. smile

Yeah, but according to your profile you'll watch anything lol I haven't seen the film but the trailer was gross and really...Twilighty. Which makes sense, I suppose, because they were both directed by the same lady; however, I'm really not a fan of her directorial work.
You know, the whole "true love" theory makes total sense, but its almost too predictable. I have a feeling its going to take just a little bit more than that to break the curse. It's a reasonable bet that that will be one huge step to ending the curse though. Who on earth knows what the directors have in mind with this? It could be a whole different twist than any of our predictions.

As far as Rumpelstiltskin goes, its really hard to decipher whether he is an antagonist or a protagonist or just in between. He was the one who handed the evil queen the curse, but he was also the one who handed the evil queen Henry. This led, after 10 years, Henry finding Emma - later on will lead to victory. He also seems to be hiding something from the queen - who knows? He knew that Henry was Emma's baby from the getgo - so perhaps his memory wasn't totally wiped out? Aaah and I was just ranting up a storm there, lol. My thoughts are scattered and all over the place about this guy. Overall, he is one of my favorite characters so far.

Rumpelstiltskin is very well acted and written so far, but I was sooo happy with tonight's episode about Jiminy, who so far has been _my_ favorite character. I absolutely _loved_ him standing up to Regina. <3 Just popping in to say how excited I am for this series.

From what little I have read about the fairy tale, Rumpelstilskin isn't really "good" or "bad", he just simply...."is" which may be the case here as well.

Ah. I just greatly enjoy movies...though I rarely force myself to watch things that I'm not interested in, Twilight being an exception. What's the name of your blog?

The original story is only like three pages so you should check it out. Whatever Rumpelstiltskin is, he's definitely the antagonist of the tale though I suppose I can see where you're coming from regarding his moral side. The king is a greedy b*****d and the miller's daughter is impulsive and willing to sacrifice a child (even though initially it's only hypothetical, if that makes it any better) for her own life. Rumpelstiltskin only wanted his part of the deal and even shows mercy by allowing her three days to guess his name, though there is the question of why he "would rather have something living than all the treasures of the world" in the first place. Also, he is generally portrayed as being an evil character in most of his other appearances in tv, movies, etc. and in the British version of the story Tom Tit Tot is described as a little black imp with a long tail. Of course, it's doubtless that the King and his new bride live happily ever after once the girl speaks Rumpelstiltskin's name and the furious creature rather literally falls to pieces.

Right, I'm no Nostalgia Critic, I'm not going to watch bad movies, and make myself angry.

here is my blog; it only has one post so far, because I just started it a few weeks ago, and the first post sucks, but I was running out of time when I wrote it, I'm going to review Unstopabble when I get off of work tonight; I was going to do it last night, but I fell asleep. sweatdrop

http://rantsandravesbykatie.blogspot.com/

Where would I find a copy of Rumplestilskin? Library? online?

Thanks for the link. Nice choice for a first review. I only recently watched "Carrie" for the first time and, based on what all my friends and family had told me, was expecting a completely different film. I felt more depressed than frightened and was surprised at how tame the prom scene really was. I had blown it way out of proportion based on what other people had said...though I've had the same experience with other horror flicks like Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street. Of course the upside of going into these movies expecting blood-filled gorefests is that one is pleasantly surprised to find that these older films are actually filled with complex characters and intentionally humorous dialogue...all this to say they don't make 'em like they used to, I suppose.

Regarding Rumpelstiltskin, it's popular enough that you should be able to find it in any collection of fairy tales (I have a couple versions in my own personal library lol) but here's a link to an online version.

Which version of Carrie did you watch? Because like I wrote in the blog, the 2002 version sucks eggs.

Okie dokey, I'll read Rumpelstilskin in a bit, when I'm able to think smile

I watched the 1976 version. I just recently discovered that they had remade it (along with "Children of the Corn," I think?) but I don't really have any desire to see it...the first one was a great movie. The only horror remake that I have enjoyed more than its original is John Carpenter's "The Thing."

Enjoy the story...tell me what you think about it after you've read it.

I saw the 2002 version on television once, before I saw the 76 version. It's an hour and half of my life I'll never get back.

Jiminy Cricket dies in Pinocchio. Just saying...

It's not just that he dies...Pinocchio intentionally kills the talking cricket by crushing him against the wall. Also, he doesn't have a name in Collodi's story. That's one thing I don't like about this show. It presents Disney material as being the true versions of these fairy tales. There's also, among other things, the names of the seven dwarfs and Maleficent, and Cinderella's appearance at the ball. I'm also a fan of the comic book series Fables which the show mirrors in a number of ways. If the sheriff turns out to be the Big Bad Wolf I'm gonna freak. Also...Shrek 4 anyone? Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic that something like this is finally on TV but I think it could be so much better. Here's hoping Once Upon a Time lasts long enough to prove itself.

Disney and ABC are in the same group of companies and in an interview I saw the actors were surprised at how much Disney would let them do.

That would be neat. It is a Fairytale show after all.

I think the only thing I don't care about the show right now is Snow White's modern hairdo. Her ears are so big.

I'm kind of hoping that this is a one/two season show though. I don't want them to ruin it by staying on too long.

I disagree about the haircut wink but definitely agree about the show length. I think it should be one season long. The concept is too specific. But, it seems as if they're dragging it out a little... so maybe two seasons.

Although to add to the theory subject-- I think it could be as simple as a kiss between Snow and her prince to bring things to truth. Who knows?
