i have never heard of this is it good?

Well, my opinion may be biased, but I would say it's rather enjoyable.

The 10th Kingdom is the story about a young woman, Virginia, and her father, Tony, who get pulled into another realm--a realm of fairy tales, made of 9 kingdoms.

Prince Wendell (grandson of Snow White), who is about to be crowned king of the 4th kingdom, gets turned into a dog by the Evil Queen, is pursued by trolls, escapes into Manhattan, NY, and gets Virginia and Tony caught up in everything when the trolls follow Wendell there. Wendell, Virginia, and Tony, being chased by the trolls, escape back into the fairy tale realm, and the rest of the miniseries is spent with Virginia and Tony trying to get back home.

If that confusing summary didn't put you off, I will say this--it IS a miniseries, so it run about 10 hours or so, but it's totally worth it. It's quite a charming story, and the characters are great. There's a lot of humor, and a lot of seriousness too. If you like a bit of cheesiness here and there, then you'll definitely enjoy this adventure. I think one of the more fun parts is seeing fairy tale elements and characters put in a slightly more realistic setting as they interact with each other. Like, you have Kissing Town, where Snow White was awoken by the prince, but now it's kinda turned into a tourist-y place. People gamble with cards...playing Snap. There's golden fingers, gypsies, magic mirrors, magic shoes, singing trolls...pretty much anything you'd want out of a fairy tale!
I have the mini-series on DVD. It ended as though it might become a series but never did, that would have had potential.

I love any kind of amalgam that involves differents stories and such and it was fun to see how this fairy tale world ended up after the Happily Ever After

I still hate that singing ring of Wolf's it was annoying

But to date Wolf is one of my favorite characters, the actor plays him so well, brought him to life

Yeah, I believe the continuation got tied up in the production stages, which is a pity.

Haha, it's become more of a biannual tradition for me, though part of that is due to my mom retaining possession of the DVDs and the fact I don't live with her. sad

I'm kinda sad they didn't have more of Cinderella, she seemed like such an interesting character!

Man, only $10?! We bought it when it first came out on DVD, so it was way more expensive than that. XD

Ugh, that singing ring is the absolute worst. If a guy gave that to me, I'd chuck it in the river right away.

Haha! I actually changed my screen name on skype to "Huff Puff" for awhile, and my friend changed hers to "Suck an Elf." We thought they made excellent names.

I watched this show recently with a group of my friends. We're all total fantasy nerds, so it was a riot. Gotta love Wolf, though. I've started using "huff puff" as an expletive. xd
Haha, it's quite hard not to start using that! Plus, if you use it around other people and they smile, then you know they've watched the show too.

I have to say that I love the wolf ♥

The trolls are really stupid, but they did make me laugh lol

XD the trolls were the best. The Bee Gees were never the same for me.

I was just about to post a thread about the 10th Kingdom when I saw this.
It's so nice to see people who love this mini series.
Diane Wiest played the most amazing Evil Queen (by far my favorite to date)

Oh my gosh, Diane Wiest is an amazing actress in general. I'm sad she hasn't done more stuff. When I saw 10th Kingdom was also close to the time I first watched The Birdcage, where Wiest plays the total opposite character--meek, soft-spoken, subservient. It's such a drastic change, it took me awhile to realize they were the same person!

That was a great show. One of better mini-series I've seen. I loved the trolls and the evil queen was one of the best and graceful villains I had seen then. In my mind she had set the standard for villainy manipulative, staying a few steps ahead, and having plenty of people to do your dirty work for you.

The sheep heardess contest and the trial were hilarious and I loved who they chose to be Snow White. If my memory serves me she wasn't some really skinny chick we usually see.
Diane Wiest played the Evil Queen wonderfully, and they really did write her character very well. <3

Haha, because of the shepherdess section, my sister and I got in the habit of saying "Mornin'!" in the same way they do. And half the time when I hear "We Will Rock You" I imagine "We Will Shear You" instead!

I liked the choice for Snow White too! She was totally pretty. Who says you need to be skinny to be considered the fairest in the land?

Oh yeah! i bought that movie years ago!
Wolf is so dreamy. ultimate fantasy of playing hide and seek in the woods. LOL
I have it on 3 disc DVD.
I'm kinda sad I've seen 10th Kingdom, because if I get into a relationship I'll just end up comparing him to Wolf in my head. Not that I'd ever let him know this.
