I bought nearly two pounds of cherries at grocery store today because they were cheap or at least cheaper then they usually are. Now I will proceed to gorge myself on this delicious fruit until I make myself sick and I will regret nothing.

I can't justify spending $5 a pound on cherries right now.
I want them so bad though. T__T

at my store they were only three dollars a pound, so i made them my one splurge item. Better then spending the money on junk food I guess.

wow, they're actually really, really expensive here right now, Michigan has great cherries, but the weather this year ******** up the harvest and its like a tenth of what it normally is

luckaly the choke cherries are doing well, and those are free! I mean, they're not that great for eating out of hand (though I do anyway) but OMFG they make the best jam ever

I like maraschino cherries better than natural cherries. It's weird.

If I were in your shoes, I would not mind doing the same thing.

Do you not have someone to share them with?

I'm fortunate in that I live in Idaho which is next to Washington, which produces a lot of fruit, including cherries. I've never had choke cherries. How do they taste?

@unchanging: My friends are crazy. They don't like cherries, so I get them all to myself.
Publix (Florida chain grocery store, maybe in other states too?) has BOGO Rainier cherries this week. Those are the ones that look like mini Fuji apples, with the red and yellow coloring. So good!

yum_tea I think Publix might be a chain across the southeastern U.S.; we have them here in Alabama, as well, and I think there are also Publix stores in Georgia. I love Publix, you can always find wonderful sales there, and they have great produce. I saw the BOGO on cherries a couple of weeks ago here. The sale's already passed, I wish I had taken advantage of it, but I don't know if I could have eaten that many cherries by myself. :<

I ended up buying a few peaches instead, since the price was good and my sister would help me eat them.

they taste like really really bitter black cherries. They grow wild everywhere and in about another month I'll be picking them by the handfull. I'm also excited the blueberries are almost out!! The strawberries already came and gone, the rasberries are out now, and probably blackberries soon if not already. And currents are usually growing around my chokecherry bushes, they come out around the same time, I just LOVE wild berries whee
Pft ha man I just bought some today (got like two bags full)
...duno why I like to eat them so much in the heat.
