Welcome to Gaia! ::

I'd like to make cha siu bao from scratch, but I'm surprised to realize that I can't seem to find an actual recipe for any filling online. I've found a few cha siu bao recipes that talk about filling, but no one seems to have a recipe for the filling itself.
I was thinking to make a pork filling (which would be preferrable), but I'll settle for chicken or even a bean-paste filling, if anyone would be willing to share or even give me a link to some filling recipes. I'd be much obliged. 3nodding
oh `chaste
I've never tried to make one myself!!!! so these recipes are from google. Hope it helps!
Rasa Malaysia; char siew bao
My Recipes.com; steamed pork buns

With pictures
Use real butter; Chinese BBQ pork buns
Junbelen; char siu bao
Visual recipes; char siu bao

That is awesome! Thanks so much - it's just what I'm looking for. heart

Be warned that if you use pork loin, or worse, tenderloin, to make this, you will end up with a dry and virtually flavorless filling. They are bland and tasteless cuts. Try using pork belly for something you will enjoy eating.
YUM!

I'm glad you said that, as it didn't seem like many recipes mentioned specifically what kind of pork to use. Thanks for telling me. smile
