Who here likes preserved duck eggs? (Century Eggs) How do you usually eat them?
Ive only had them a few times (and never tried cooking with them or making anything with them myself) but I thought it was really good. Certainly nothing worth remarking over as having a bad flavor.

Its one of the ingredients in the congee served at the place I like to have dim sum. It was one of my staples after having wisdom teeth pulled or any sort of mouth stuff.

Dangerous Creature

Century egg with slices of pickled ginger. It was my favourite back at a signature restaurant in HK.

I'm not sure I could eat it, but my fiance has expressed interest in trying it.

I'm not generally squeamish but it's one thing that kind of makes my stomach turn just thinking about it. Not sure why.
When I tried them, I ate them straight out of the shell. Interesting flavor.

I do, and I eat them like regular hard boiled eggs.

Does anyone here make their own? It doesn't sound hard, but I'm very wary of preparing foods with lye myself. I worry that I wouldn't rinse the finished product enough.

This is the only way I'll eat it. In congee with pork.

The taste is too sharp on it's own even in pastries.

It's basically a fermented dairy product.... cheese with a shell.

I've never tried it, but it certainly looks curious.
Never tried and don't ever want to.
I've seen my dad eat it and he'd enjoy eating it, too.. with his wine.

Magical Bunny

I love them.

They're really good as part of a tofu, garlic salad with a sprinkle of soy sauce and sesame oil.

Original Gaian

Congee is an option. Or served plain with some ginger/scallions/soy sauce/sesame oil.

High-functioning Lunatic

Its a very acquired taste.

My family is Chinese so I've come across it many times. I don't like it, however most of my family does, yet I have cousins who are like me who sit at the table and fill our rice bowls with everything but that.

I'd rather have a hard boiled egg that's been cooked in wine and soysauce for several hours.
I do, although they're a bit too strong for me if I'm eating it on its own. I like them in jook
My mom cooks the century egg in a egg custard and a drizzle of soy sauce on top. It tastes really good when you grab some of it and eat it with rice. yum_puddi
