Authentic Teriyaki Chicken and Fried Rice

Last night I cooked my first dish ever, and I picked teriyaki chicken and fried rice.

It turned out really well. I made it all completely from scratch! Needless to say it was exciting, because I did not think it was going to turn out well at all the first time I did it.


Can any of you remember your first dish? Cereal, P B & J's, and Ramen aside. xp

Has anyone here tried their hand at authentic oriental cuisine? Any tips or recipes?
My next adventure is going to be Lo Mein I think.

My family is asian, and we make most of our meals from scratch. whee

I find a simple stir fry to be quick and easy. (Not to mention delicious!) biggrin

My first was steak and potatoes.
For dessert that night was baked apples with cinnamon.

I was 11 and my dad told me I need to learn to cook by myself.
He handed me a stack of cookbooks and told my little sister to help.
The steak and potatoes I knew how to make so I picked that.
He knew I knew that so made me make dessert from the cookbook.
The apples were the grossed thing I ever ate!

What recipe did you use for the teriyaki chicken and fried rice?
I've always wanted to cook that but thought it would be too complicated.
I looked up Orange Chicken one day and it was like crazy ingredients and such.

My first was fried rice. And it was this recipe. neutral

3 slices bacon, chopped
3 cups cooked rice
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 T soy sauce
1 cup lap cheong, sliced
2 T oyster sauce
2 T Chinese five spice (optional)
2 eggs, beaten
2 stalks green onion, diced

Cook bacon, drain, set aside. Stir fry everything in a wok except the eggs, bacon, and green onion. In another pan, cook eggs into a thin omlette, cut into strips and add into the rice with the bacon and green onion. Mix, let stand a few minutes, serve.
