An updated sprite version of Final Fantasy III? Think about it, there's only two versions of FFIII: The original 8-bit NES version, and the 20-year later DS version. Personally I don't like the style of the DS version. I feel like they're throwing polygons at us just to say "happy now?". Not to mention FF3 has always sort of been the b*****d child, and the fact that it's still the only one who's style does not match the original six makes it stand out that much more.

But much like how they updated the sprites for 1, 2, and 4 for the PSP, I would really like to see an HD sprite update for FF3. As well as 5 and 6. Would this interest anyone else?

If they update FF3, it has to be an update to the NES version - new sprites, translation, maybe easter eggs - at least on par with the PSP or Dawn of Souls updates for 1 and 2. It cannot be a retrograde of the DS version, however: I want generic Onion Kids, with their suppin Onion Knight class.

If they do this, they will have my $35+ for sure. 3nodding

5 might interest me. 6, I think we have enough versions of 6 for the time being.

I love VI, one of my fave games, BUT seriously, YOU are the kind of fan that would make me hate the game just BECAUSE of the fans (which I never would do), you are just THAT annoying, I don't like FFVII because of many reasons (none being the fandom, that is damn annoying but not a reason I don't like the game) but in this case, I actually and starting to wish Square never made Final Fantasy VI, FFVII's fans have, for the most part, calmed down (especially now they can go FFVII mad in a sticky) but you are just annoying us like mad.

This thread is about Final Fantasy II NOT VI, I know it is hard to believe but not EVERY thread in this forum HAS to be about Final Fantasy VI, there are only 12 other games (in the mainstream games) that can be spoken about also, FFVI is NOT the be all and end all of Final Fantasy so stop trying to hijack a thread about Final Fantasy III and make it about VI.

I really liked having some personality to the Onion Kids, and I wouldn't mind if they had done that with FFI as well. But considering that they were originally generic, I would also be totally fine with Onion Kids. But I agree, it should follow the NES guidelines moreso with some additional dungeons and goodies.

As for 5 and 6, while they're surviving well enough as they are, I would just like for all six to have the updated PSP sprites, because 1, 2, and 4 have all really benefited from the upgrade.

well i dont want to see ffvi charaters the same as they redid 4 hell no no way if they redo ffvi then i hope they do it like ffxiii but it might be hard with 14 playable charaters and player has so much choose of who they can take were

Just took a look at 4's, and I definitely see what you mean, how that would help 5 and 6. And even if they did "retrograde" 3-DS this way, I'd likely buy it. The grognard and fantype in me just prefers the original. 3nodding

I would truely enjoy such a thing, updated sprites for III rather then the 3d would not only age better compared to polygons, but also if they do it like 4 it'd have a real nice quality to them.

Though, as long as they don't do the odd differences with the battle sprites to the world map sprite like IVs complete collection did with Cecil


One of these things are not like the other, one of these things just doesn't belong <__< (I do understand why they did it, but they could have easily remedied it. This goes the same for many of the world map/portite to sprite. Cids blue beard to red beard being another one)

Oh yes, and as long as they improve the story a little bit to flow a bit better, mainly because out of all the FFs I have replayed to death, III always seems to lose me narrative wise when you go job hunting and grinding.

Final Fantasy IV also had the same polygon layout as III did when they remade that for the DS. Personally, I find it cute.

And, the DS version is the actual Japanese version. For the American version released waaaaaay back when was actually Final Fantasy VI. (Final Fantasy IV was released as Final Fantasy II). So in the North American released, we went I, IV, VI, VII... etc. Skipping II and III in the process.

Anyway. I would love a small remake of V and VI like they did with IV, as long as they don't do what they did to Cecil as you see pictured in previous posts.

I actually prefer the DS-style to the sprite style. > A>;; If V and VI were remade, I'd prefer them in the DS style. Especially with bottom-screen dungeon maps.
