ok first off only the black chocobo can fly, second look at the environment that the chocobos live in, there are plains on one side, but it doesn't hunt them there, you fight it near the cliffs and the fact that it does have very large powerful arms means it can grab a chocobo as it tries to run past or jump over it in the tight areas on the cliffs or in the valley below... another thing is, if you have played the game you would also know, the chocobo eater can charge quite quickly towards its opponent (like when it rams you at certain times pushing you back towards the edge of the cliff to knock you off if you don't kill it/knock it back too).... not to mention, compared to most final fantasy games,chocobos in X are not really all that fast, they just have very high jumping capabilities. biggrin
