Question regarding the Chocobo Eater

Final Fantasy X shows the Chocobos as birds with large strides and the ability to fly. How in the world does something like a Chocobo Eater catch one ? It has large arms, but it looks horribly slow with those puny legs.

I would have said trees as it'd build very much like a monkey but it's in the plains... blasted monster designs that make little to no sense and is just designed that way to be cool looking D8

My only guess would be it has some fairly good stalking and hiding abilities. Maybe it's a burrower? Hiding under the hills and setting up pitfalls for the chocobos to unwittingly fall into. It could be a very patient hunter as well, using the cliffs for climbing on as well.

...All totally theories, since many FF monsters make little sense other then to be scary/cool/cute XD

I thought chocobo's could only glide or something along those lines.

And I wouldnt be surprised if it went after chocobo's like it went after your party, full speed and arms as long as a bus ready to clap down on you. Or it whips rocks like a beast at them.

I vaguely remember the fight you have with him...he uses push back, so perhaps he backs the chocobo's into a corner or something?

Most chocobos dont really fly. Gold ones and black ones do I think, but the rest are mostly runners that can jump high and stay afloat lightly.

Black chocobo fly. Gold ones just run at insanely high speeds to go around the world and defy the laws of physics.

Chocobos can't fly in Final Fantasy X. They can jump very high and across large gaps though. The chocobo eater most likely just waits in ambush for them or stalks places where large groups of chocobos congregate to eat or in pens and grabs what it can.
