I'm really not liking the fact that I want to play as a melee class, but I like swords....no idea why SE hasn't implemented a class for it, or let warriors use them

:/ axes are fugly
Wait what?
Paladins/Gladiators use swords I though.
If it makes you feel better DRG/WAR use a Buster Sword on their 2nd Limit Break. XD

Gladiator and Paladins use swords. Gice SE time and they will eventually add a great sword class.
Samurai and Ninja will eventually be added, it has already been stated by the director they would like to add them eventually.

I am Moon cat of White Mages the descendant of Zidane Tribal somehow. surprised
Seriously. I kinda look like his child. xD Last name is Tribal anyway. I like seeing people take names after other characters.

People here are probably going to kill me or some-shiz, but I was recently let into the FINAL FANTASY XIV:A Realm Reborn beta (to be released August 27th, 2013) but quite frankly, I haven't been able to follow the FF series well. I mean, I've played the game before, but I'm no fanatic (yet) and don't want to sound like a total noob if I come across a conversation with a fellow friend or beta-tester that involves characters and or themes I do not know...

Basically, can someone hook me up with some magical thing that'll make me know everything about Final Fantasy???

found something i think you might enjoy.

One name can sum up all of 1.0's FFXIV: Louisoux.
One annoying pet peeve in the beta. The fact that people are using WoW terms in a FF game. stressed

Louisoux was the elderly Elezen that tried to re-imprison Bahamut in the end of an era video and sent the heros of light to the future right?

and yeah i have been seeing a lot of wow players applying wow terminology to the beta. they like to say its a much easier wow and such, i am just looking at their level and thinking, yeah, easier than wow, wait till you are on your lvl 15 class quest and campaign quest while in lvl 10 gear and no clue what will happen if you try to go balls to the wall on the voidsent haha > wink

Protip: the voidsent in limsa lominsa, range pull it around the side of the buildings so you and it are out of sight of the mage, and slowly damage it while avoiding its big attacks until your back up arrives. makes the fight so much easier while still being a challenge.

with the exception of a few games FF each FF is its own world and game with nothing to do with other games, best thing I can tell you is google each indivdiual FF game name with the word wiki.

As far as 14 goes, all you need to know is its an mmo and bahamut ******** s**t up 5 years ago and if you realy want to become an expert on the lore go to http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/index.html

As you become more familiar with each of the Final Fantasy games you'll notice that the games are independent of each other but occassionaly they'll make references to previous games in the series. Most of the references are insignificant to the storyline but they are cool.

Actually when I played XI before I really didn't have too much difficulty playing solo. My strategy was to stay in each area until I exhausted the EXP, and then move on to the next area. Leveling up was definately on the slower side when compared to Partying but it was still possible.

I think the slowness was the problem - sure, you could theoretically level up solo, but when it *already* took months to reach the level cap, few wanted to exaggerate the problem by reducing their earnings to <50 XP per kill. That and, of course, the fact that even "Easy Prey" had a chance of besting you, with an "Even Match" being a gamble at best. It got better as they added companions, solo-worthy jobs, and repeatable exp. tasks, of course. It wasn't so bad by the time Wings of the Goddess came out. sweatdrop

It was either Wed. or Thurs. I pre-ordered Final Fantasy XIV (Collector's Edition) for the PS3 from Amazon. I always look to see who's offering what exclusives for the Pre-orders. When I seen the Cait Sith minion pet and Moogle Hat... I was sold.

I played Final Fantasy XI for the PS2 up until right after the second expansion. I also picked up a Collector's Edition of that for the XBox 360. I figured that can hold me over until XIV comes out in August, What do you know, I just might end up playing XI and XIV side-by-side, lol.

I have a friend that's going to get a copy of each as well... He's huge into MMO's. So, it'll be nice to actually know someone that I'm Party'ed up with in the games. And maybe I'll play a little longer than I did when I originally had Final Fantasy XI.

FF XI, where it is impossible to solo anything. I missed XI so much I had to find me a private server to play on while waiting for XIV beta weekends.

no matter where you pre order, as long as it was an official site sanctioned by SE you should get the moogle hat, cait sith doll, and early access.

you and your pal should roll up characters on Leviathan and join my guild, would lovwe to have more Gaians and SPG fans in there.

Oh I found a beta thread for this! I think I posted a thread in the wrong section, should have looked a little harder .. xD; First time to the gaming discussion forums emotion_sweatdrop
I am horribly, horribly disappointed that the boobs are so small, especially given a slider for them - I hoped they'd be like Aion's boobs. ): Also, is anyone else experiencing clunky controls/general UI for the ps3? I know I probably shouldn't beta test on a console, it was complete hell to even get on the game in the first place.

well that is kind of the whole point, so they can work out the kinks through feedback from players. From what i have experienced on pc everything is great, even the controller setup though i still prefer mouse and keyboard. As far as your appearance of the women complaint, go make a roedagayn female, they are practically Dolly Parton. I for one am glad they stuck with a more realistic size that does not hurt the back or the eyes.
Yes, I know what a beta is :3 Still, for PS3 the game itself isn't any good due to the controls - I'd rather play it for PC and use a controller if it came down to it. I have already given them feedback on this, since yeah .. FFXI was reasonable with it's console play and this is not. Plus the login issues are easier to work around on a pc - imagine having to enter your password in time and time again on your PS3 and waiting much longer for anything to load.
I wouldn't make one of those races to play as myself, I'd rather stick with the ones that are actually attractive - I don't really see much appeal in making a giant, atleast not for me. I prefer a nice slim model rather than a bodybuilder. I would also imagine that a giant would by default have a larger cup size just down to the general bodyshape anyway.
But the fact that they had a large slider for such a tiny amount of boobage was what was disappointing. Why even add the slider in the first place if it's hardly going to change the cup size of the characters? I barely even saw a change on my Miqo'te

I assume you have not meet the admiral in Limnsa lominsa yet. best looking female model i have seen sofar in the game and she is a roegadyn. looks nothing like a giant or body builder. I do however understand where you are coming from,, the char generator is severely lacking on options at the moment.
