I've been playing XII lately. Gosh. The music is so underwhelming. Feels like nothing more than background tunes that get drowned out most of the time. ;c

It's not bad, per say. Just very little is memorable, and sounds like typical background music I'd hear in any other game for whatever type of area present. :c

I know I sound silly, but in a Final Fantasy people generally come to expect music that'll blow you away and that you'll want to listen to again and again. In XII it was pretty much meh-able for me. Like... it's nice it's there but I couldn't really care less if I heard this track ever again. Certainly not bad music, just not memorable music. For me.

The only music I could really listen to that was really good was VI's music. (i.e. Terra's theme, Searching for friends)

I guess XII's music seems less like 'gaming' music because it doesn't shift during battles. You have music to suit each area, and that's what you fight to.

I dunno I'm pretty sure my favorite either has to be Auron's theme or Otherworld from FFX.
