Because its so popular, it 'deserves' spin-offs because based on the strength of its fanbase, as a business, Square Enix is able to make a profit; when branching out with other FF-IP's would be a bigger risk. Otherwise, on a personal level, it deserves another movie because I love the characters so much =P

I've played through FFIII and FVIII, given FFX a go, to me they pale in comparison to VII, I wouldn't be interested in another kind of spin-off game or movie based on a different final fantasy; and I know I only speak for myself. FFXIII is looking good though.

I stopped reading right there. First off, FFVII's fanbase is a bunch of moron's who still cry when Aeris gets impaled. Secondly, 7 isn't all that great of a game. It's plot is full of holes, the characters are as shallow as the kiddy pool that is in my back yard. The battles are the same as it's predecessor's. The music was mediocre at best. This game wasn't all that great. Especially if you compare it to other RPG's that are out. Although I'm not much of a movie, I believe that either 9 or 12 should get a movie. Nine, because it's got a great story, semi-believeable characters, and when I finished it I thought that there should be more. Twelve because it's story was pretty interesting, and after beating it, I want to know really what happened to everyone.

And lastly the only good thing that VII had going for it would be the Materia System. That's it.

lol, all that may be - although everything you described is subjective to the individuals opinion, and a very strong number of peoples' opinion is that it is a great game. But you just completely ignored the rest of what I said, which still justifies its spin-offs. From a business stand-point, its spin-offs are the most likely to make a profit. End of story.

Of course I ignored the rest of your post. As I said in my earlier one, the red text is where I stopped reading. As for the spin-off's they're over shadowing some of the better games. The fact that Enix is using VII as a cash cow annoys me. I liked the game way back when it first came out, then a couple of years later I go back to it, and I just to myself, "Wtf? How did I like this?" I honestly don't believe that this game should be getting all the attention that it is. VIII and IX were much better games.

As long as if they were popular enough to make a profit, then that was a bonus for Square Enix.
Companies in general works like that. As long as they make a profit, they will continue to add onto their ideas until it no longer becomes successful.

First post in this page: Quite irrelevant to the FFVII Compilation thread and is hereby reported.

Anywho...
I have just defeated Sephiroth, once again, in Crisis Core. I'm still slightly puzzled about the colored crystals that hover around when I fought him. I haven't played in a while so I don't really know what those were.
Just watched Advent Children Complete and I have to say it was worth it, the changes they made make it even better.

Final Fantasy VII (The game) > Final Fantasy VII (The series)
Sephiroth is the one winged angel who has rised and falled many times hes still awesome! vincent is cooler.
In reply to the crystals in the Sephiroth battle in Crisis Core, I think they're just weird summons of Seph's, they attack you and you can attack them, but it's just easier to go for Sephiroth. Besides if you get a DMW that can take them out for you.
I love FF VII ~~~ heart

Gah! It all makes sense now.
Over the years, I've seen those titles thrown around, and have been clueless. Now I know. Ah, I'm glad Cloud and the rest don't die after all.

Can anyone comment on the collective? How good are they? Often, sequels suck, so. :<
Le sigh~ Just finished Crisis Core..... So tragic, though that's how life often works. Now to finish DoC....... @.@ (so terrible at FPS)

The collective as in the other bits to the FFVII pie? I liked Advent Children, the animation was just splendid even if the story was a bit redundant. Loved the classic music with a metal rock twist.

Also I recommend Crisis Core, it explains a lot, though it also adds a bunch more confusion. Great animation as well though.

Dirge of Cerberus perhaps not so much, unless you're a diehard Vincent fan (me!) or you're well versed in the FPS business (not me!)

Hoped that helped a bit ^.~

I think CC contributes the most to understanding the story of FFVII. DoC does not so much I think. CC is a lot more fun to play. I have experience with FPS, but DoC is really ridiculous.

I think the real reason why we are all depressed about what happened to Aeris is that she's the best mage and there is no true replacement for her (perhaps Yuffie, but still).
I played Crisis Core and loved it so much that I bought FFVII for $60 (black case). Then a few months later it came out on the PSN for $10. scream scream scream

I'm actually thinking about downloading it from the PSN so I can have it portable. I'd be way more likely to play it then. It takes up so much memory though...

Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children are fanservice for the most part. The story in Advent Children is okay but it is told in a messy way. Awesome fight scenes though.

The story in Dirge of Cerberus is actually pretty good, but the gameplay is poor in terms of third person shooters. Many call it a DMC clone, but that is a flat out lie, it is more akin to third person shooters, it actually feels like Mass Effect, except that Mass Effect was actually fun. It does have some fun boss fights.

Crisis Core definitely has a VII feeling to it, and is actually quite fun. The story is good, but it does unfortunately have a few spots that can make someone go 'wtf' but all and all the story does it's job. The characterization of Zack is probably one of my favorites in the series thus this far. I loved the gameplay but it is a bit simple in terms of how it plays, but that's probably because it was made to be a portable game, kind of like KH but stripped down, and there is a slight delay in attacks. The music is hit and miss.

All and all I feel Crisis Core is the best spin off to date. Unless Before Crisis ever sees a release outside of Japan.
