http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/genmessage.php?board=939394&topic=45363265 This is an interesting little diversion to read while waiting for the true plotline of Dissidia to unfold further. While most of it probably hardly reaches canon, it does manage to justify many choices, and give some interesting ideas. I found this ongoing fanfiction fascinating.
It still seems to me like its a little early for Square to suddenly have dumped the final three characters on us all at once. Sometime in november, sure...
I'm wondering if maybe there's still some merit to the mysteriously random XI and XII slots on the flash site.
I'm hoping they really will include them. Not because I care much for XI or XII, but it really would display the creator's faithfulness to the series as a whole. I remember Nomura was very "I can't tell you anything" with questions about XI. Usualy when something is 100% false, Square never minds going ahead and telling us. So why closed mouth about that?
I also can't help but wonder about a piece of Final Fantasy lore that has remained very prominant in the series. Three Female Leads. Through out the history of FF's since V, there have been usualy three female protagonists. The only personality games that avoid this are II and IV.
V: Faris, Lena, Krille
VI: Terra, Celes, Relm
VII: Aerith, Tifa, Yufie
VIII: Quistis, Selphie, Rinoa
IX: Garnet, Freya, Eiko
X: Yuna, Lulu, Rikku
X-2: Yuna, Rikku, Paine
But not every FF game has had the same traditional from the very begining. Its still a noticable feature.
If Ashe is selected to represent XII, and a female character is chosen for XI. And if Tactics were released with Ultima as a villain...We'd have that little bit of lore fuffiled.
Wishful thinking, but theories based in fact are fun.
