If what u people are saying is true about the Mime class being iconic then wouldnt it be a good idea to make him mime a random character that way in each battle hes mimed a different character. Kinda like Charade from soul calibur 2 who appeared at the start of every battle with a random characters fighting style.

That's not how mime worked. Mime allowed the character in question to mimic the last previous action made by a team member in battle, as well as the ability to add three different subclass abilities to their menu, when all other classes could only add one. This makes it the most versitile job in the game.

Unfortunately as there seems to be a limit on character classing, the mime's ability is rather useless here.

I would be REALLY happy to see Dragoon be the Physical Ex-mode of Bartz. But I'd much Blue Mages represented as the Magical Ex-mode. Blue Mage as a class could be functional of the Destiny Board included enemy encounters. They're versitile, and would make a good historical nod to the series in a way that none of the other classes could, or haven't already shown in other characters so far.

I don't think a third or fourth one would be good though. Switching that much in battle would make things complicated, especialy as Exmodes seem to only last for a short time. Onion Knight is not in Sage/Ninja mode each for more than a minute at a time.

Ahha thanks for the clarity, i never played 5, im hoping for a remake. and i totally agree they should add a dragoon into this game but i think it should be more of a choose that class whenever. kinda like cecils change from DK to Paladin. and another crazy idea. what if summons were like the pokemon from Smash Bros? then every1 could use em and such.

True. I'm actually basing it more on Firion's "let's tribute every FF2 character" Swiss Army approach - that perhaps Bartz will tribute all four crystals, and thus his fellow heroes, through having four classes. It might be excessive, indeed; we'll see.

Using Smash Bros as an analogy, I have the feeling that for Cecil, the act of changing is itself the Ex-mode - similar to say how Samus becomes ZS Samus and vice versa. It's not an at-will change. It would make more sense than Cecil becoming a temporary paladin, lolol.

Having the summons be "like the Pokemon" will probably not happen, though it's not impossible - the FF6 (Esper magicite) or FF7 (Summon Materia) model for summoning would have to be used in that case.
Okay, so completely random question about some of the titles the characters got. Jecht was described as an ultimate infighter, what does that mean and Kuja is a range free character, does that mean he has both short and long range attacks to choose from? Squall's a combo master, so he'll be able to do combos easily, but I hear people say he's only good at combos on the ground. Does it really make sense to call him a combo master if he's only able to do combos on the ground? I see combo master as being able to do combos easily whether it's on air or land or water or whatever, ya know?
I'll do my best to piece together a good description of fighting tactics based on scans, interviews, and demos shown.

Jecht: Jecht is an all round fighter. He's not a tank like Garland, nor is he agile like Tidus, or takes to the air like Zidane. So far he seems to be the closest villain to match Light Warriar, combining his ability to take blows with an agile yet brute strength. Clips from demos show him being able to produce very large projectiles in Ex-mode form.

Tidus: Acrobatic and speedy, Tidus can make gaps that most other characters can't. His attack power doesn't seem as strong, and he has limited projectile ability. His exmode increases his speed 2xs his norm, and his attacks hit home more frequently.

Kuja does not use a weapon, but instead uses a ring of orbs. These have the ability to hit anyone around him within a certain distance. He is essentialy able to hit the enemy even if his back is turned, which makes up for what may be a lower defence. His abilities in Trance Mode are yet to be displayed, beyond what apears to be firing Ultima.

Zidane: Zidane has the most aerial ability of the lot, though not as much speed as Tidus. Judging on the fact tha the works with daggers, his combo rate may be another strength. His Dyne abilities have been displayed, showing Shift Break, Solution 9, and Stellar circle although his exmode Finisher has not been shown.

Ultimecia is a spell slinginger. Her attacks are comprised of magical purple projectiles that home in on the enemy. She also has the ability to freeze time and teleport, making a battle with her one of attempting to get near her. She probably has low defence, and these tactics are to evade the blows that would cripple her. When junctioned with Griever in Exmode, she can perform a Renzokuken style barrage of her magic attacks. Her enhancements otherwise in Exmode are undefined. She also apears able to interupt exmode attacks

Squall: Squall is capable of landing the most consequitive hits at any one time. So far only the limit break Rough Divide has been shown powering up, but not used. His exmode finisher is a return of Renzokuken. There's no clear indication of what his Exmode entails, though speculation based on some screenshots show that he transforms into his SeeD uniform.

Onion Knight: Onion Knight is by far the weakest character, but makes up for it with an Exmode that happens much more frequently compaired to the other two battles we've seen. Where he lacks the ability to do real damage in normal form, his exmodes seem to be the most versitile. As a Ninja, his speed rivals that of Tidus and Zidane, and he gains the advantage of two swords. His ex-finisher, he is allowed to pick from a variety of projectiles. As a sage, he can use any number of white or black magic, which may imply he may be the only character capable of healing himself without the fortune of finding a potion. This is notable, as health does not regenerate from battle to battle on its own. He is shown being able to use Firaga, Holy, and Meteor to great effect.

Cloud of Darkness: Cloud of Darkness has a lot of resiliance in the fight she is shown in. Her main way of attacking is by energy attacks, or the use of the two demonoid serpents that escort her every where she goes. But unlike other distanced fighters, these serpents have an element of randomness. Probably to reflect her chaotic, destructive nature, the serpents will swirve all over the playfield, around obsticals, and often completly missing the oponent, unless they fail to be warey of them. She has not been shown performing in Exmode beyond screenshots of her NES styled self.

Firion: Firion is an all round fighter, capable of switching between melee and long distance fighting at will. How this works, and if it involves exmode remains to be seen, as well as the fact that his exmode-finisher has not been displayed. So far he is shown wielding the Axe, Bow, Staff, and Blood Sword.

Emperor: The Emperor has sheer size on his side. He is easily one of the tallest characters after Exdeath. He seems very good at producing comboes with his lance, though his real unique strength seems to be the ability to lay traps that detonate around his opponents.

Light Warriar: Light Warrior is an all rounder, who makes good use of both sword, projectile energy attacks, and his sheild. He is fairly quick and strong, but just as he has no real weakness, he doesn't seem to have any major strengths to speak of. His exmode is to transform into the Knight, though he has not been seen performing in this mode.

Garland: Garland is this game's resident tank. He lacks speed compaired to everyone else, but his weapon has both reach and brutal force behind it. When in Exmode Soul of Chaos, his speed increases, as well as his strength, making him one of the most powerful characters in the game when it comes to measuring sheer strength
The three battle demos on the official site actually say a lot - Onion Knight vs. Cloud of Darkness, Tidus vs. Jecht, and Garland vs. Warrior of Light. These are played in Hard Mode, but the actual capabilities of the characters are exaggerated to speed up play and show features.

FF3 match: In his Onion Kid form, he's definitely not a FEOK: the damage he's showing is minimal, though he is definitely casting Firaga. After some time, he becomes a Ninja, does a combo, and then does his EX Finish Ninjutsu - the prompt tells him to "Throw a Shuriken!" and you do so... old school FF style, by selecting Nageru from the list, then getting the sublist of throwable weapons and selecting the shuriken. After pelting CoD with some shuriken, "It's a back attack!" for Massive Damage.

Later, he becomes the Sage... and is reduced to one HP by a dubiously powerful, non-EXF, Cloud of Darkness attack. We see him cast Drain twice, getting 51 HP back each time, and then Flare, which kills CoD. But wait... yes, the EXF pops up AFTER the kill, Dai-Mahou: Cast Holy! The drop down features a number of spells:

Firaga, Erase, Fira
Death, Kill, Aero
Haste, Fire, Holy
Blizzaga, Tornado, Blizzara

Selecting Holy causes him to cast Holy AND Meteo. Talk about excessive.

FF10 match: Otherworld blares in the background, and we see that Tidus fights like Sora from Kingdom Hearts 2, as played by someone who needs to lay off the sugar. Seriously, if he's not the fastest character, it's only because Zidane might be faster. The notable thing here is that when he starts on his EXF "Ace of the Blitz," you do an input command that should be familiar to ANYONE who's played FFX: it's the method you use to do Tidus's overdrives. Remember, though - its ability to one-off Jecht is exaggerated.

FF1 match: Note the different victory fanfare - the villain version has a darker edge to it. Nice. You'll note that Garland is very large, very slow, and has a chain-sword like Ivy from Soul Calibur, and can somehow combo with this unwieldy looking object. To support this, he can cast Fire (Honoo) and Earthquake (Jishin; distinguished from Onion Knight's use of Quake?) while his EXF, Soul of Chaos, uses the "jam the O button!" minigame.
Warrior of Light, though set up for failure in this demo, counters with Shining Wave and Shield of Light, and enters with the bold claim of "Ima koso... shukumei no toki!" "Right now... is destiny's time!" Sounds cool... but the big guy wins the Battle of the Hornheads.
So far we seem to agree. Especialy as far as Onion Kid Goes. He looks like he is the "Hidden Tank" of the game, if people are patient enough to learn how to use him properly. I love those kinds of characters.
i'm usually good at unpredictabilty with these types of games - i move around a lot and try to use the environment to enable my attacks. i'm hoping Kefka or Kuja will be useful for this. °-º

that sounds more like the Emperor whose a trap maker and uses the enviorment and unpredictabiity to his advantage but Kuja will probably be fighting with sum weird balls of magic and such that u probably can predict. and im not to sure about kefka. u just have to wait for vids of him fighting pop up
The Official Dissidia Website has been updated. The "System" tab is now available, and contains a segment of two clips, using Light Warrior to demonstrate some of the gameplay aspects, with captions at the bottom explaining what is going on.
Im guessing from what i saw its about how to beat down ur enemys Brave Points in one video and HP in the other from both long and short distances. The the jist of what i got

It would seem that what's going on is this.

The first demo shows how you use simple attacks to decrease your opponent's Brave points, try to put him in Break mode, and increase your own Brave. This is done with Circle button attacks.

The second demo shows you how to expend your Brave in special attacks - using a Square button attack, you dump all of your Brave into an attack, that deals HP damage equal to the Brave you expend. This puts you into Break status though, and while you are in Break, your Square attacks deal zero damage even if you have accumulated some Brave (which happens normally while in Break.)
This is interesting.

The begining is useless stuff we already know, but the last question.

I'll try. Arakawa said: Dissidia Final Fantasy's story and characters will not be directly connected to their roles in the FF series. However, some of the connections will be revealed as you approach the ending. Also, the characters and story here [in Dissidia] will be consistent with their foundations [the original sources,] so fans, please rest assured! (Heh.)

In the whole series, among the characters from I-X, the hero characters from V VI VII have not yet been released; at this Tokyo Game Show, we will show you who they are.---

I took some liberties, but that's pretty much what's being said. Conclusion:

-Dissidia draws from the ten source games, but isn't directly connected to them. The indirect connections will be established in the story, through playing the game.
-The character personalities won't go completely out of whack. (Yay.)
-Tokyo Game Show will answer the question of the 5-7 heroes.
