Dissidia: Final Fantasy - Released in All Major Territories!

For me, partly, it'll be because VII was my first Final Fantasy.
But I do like his character, his story is pretty good nad I like his character design.
This was all backed up when I watched Advent Children and played Crisis Core though.

I like Cloud because he was quite an interesting character. He had a weakness, suffered from a huge identity crisis, and came to terms on his own. He also has quite a complex personality, where he tends to try to act cocky, then he opens up to some people.Over-all I feel he was quite a badass with an interesting story, and was a character I just felt was perfect for the story of Final Fantasy VII. I wouldn't want anyone else to be the lead of that game.


This is my personal reasons for thinking he is a great lead, and one of my favorite characters ever.

I actually got to agree with lunarschemer, I don't see what all is good about Cloud, he actually is very boring in my eyes. I haven't seen what is the great aspect of cloud, yeh he starts as an a**, but that doesn't make for a 3 dimensional character.

Let's see. Cloud *whips out a poster of Cloud and posts it up, then whips out a pointer stick that teachers use*

To some women, he is found to be handsome, sexy, etc. All if this is either caused by genetics, exercise, good hygeine, and being experimented on for 5 years in the basement of a mansion.

To men, he is found as a role model to potentionally be able to mate with the females. Nice body, glowing blue eyes, blonde hair, quiet personality. Sounds like the leading man in a romance novel. The only thing cloud doesn't do is chase women.

Story wise, he is the main hero, which in tradition, women fall for. This is why you are able to date either Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie, or Barret. All because they all want him. (Though I reject those that are not canon, I don't support Cloud/Any of the following that we just mentioned.)

He is a close link to Sephiroth. *slaps up a poster of him and smacks it with her stick* One of the most popular villians in the Final Fantasy series. He too, is so loved, Kefka hates him for it. And when you see Sephiroth, you think "Oh he fights Cloud! Hey Cloud! He's cool!"

Another reason is because FFVII is so popular. Fans love it for the story, the variety of characters, etc. Because it's so popular, so is the main hero and villian!

There are more reaons but studies are still being conducted as we experiment-- I mean, surveying FFVII fans of why Cloud is popular.

This concludes this lesson. *tears down the posters*

Overall, it comes down to one thing. Opinions.

I don't know, I can think of a large amount of characters that were more interesting, like the entire cast of IV, V, VI, and X. The characters out of each of those games blew cloud outa the water, and that is talking about the original game. I felt actually dissapointed when I made it through VII, this is after I had gotten through I-VI. It was really a let down in my eyes. VII had some interesting characters, but Cloud wasn't one of them. The term wet towel comes to mind, or maybe the fact that he couldn't get over a fake past that wasn't his own and let that lead himself to being an annoyance on all around him. But that is a different argument, I digress.

Haha, couldn't have said it better myself. Reading above, no-one has given me any in-depth reason for why Cloud is so amazing. So far I've heard vagueness, a strange lesson plan, and stuff I already knew. I don't think Cloud is as "deep" as people think, haha. He was actually very predictable, cliche, and boring. He's not Mr. personality at all--- he's like a robot. "Sephiroth how dare u. Im not fit to help n e one. Oh no. Oh no. Ahh. My head."
Now, as far as cliche I know there are MANY characters that fit into that category. But at least they have very creative and interesting personalities--- they make it look GOOD on them. Such as Cecil, a typical hero, or Kefka, a typical villian. As far as Cloud being insane and that making it more "interesting" not really. I found it quite irritating, to be honest. It made more pointless things for Cloud to *omg angst* over. I love heroes that don't take s**t, haha. Look at Zidane from FFIX. He had that some pretty damn depressing times but he pulled through it because he I don't know, actually listened to people and it didn't take a whole MOVIE to pull him out of being a child. The creators make remarks of Cloud being like a "big kid", and perhaps that's why I am so "turned away" by him. Because that is exactly what he is--- a child that doesn't know what he's doing. He's not a good leader at all, and if he didn't look "OH MAH GAWD" the smex, I bet he wouldn't be popular in the least.
And Sephiroth is nearly as bad. He's a TERRIBLE villian, with also, no personality. He's a mindless drone that prattles on about his mother (which isn't even his real mother) and brags about how strong he is when I wasted his a** under level 50.
Many characters blow Cloud "out of the water". Kain for instance *wink wink nudge nudge*. And I don't get why people don't like these other characters. Are they not "hot" enough, or is everyone that stuck on FFVII because it's the first game that brought "bishies" to our TV screens? : / The ONLY hot person in FFVII is Zack. Well, and Tifa. ;D Hm, I adore both of those characters. I wonder why? Maybe because they weren't on the idiotmobile like Cloud.

Honestly, we have other threads for that topic, and none of you have said anything that hasn't been said before, and considering the actual thread topic, this equates almost to spam. At least when I was arguing with people, it was relevant. ninja

As it were, does anyone have any new ideas, or theorys about Dissidia now that we've been given new info?

And someone please please please come up with translations for the site's content.

I might only be as far as JUST getting the last crystal Dark Crystal (And having lost it thanks to the idiot Kain), But I think its a fair enough assessment everyone'd be better off without him.

anyways, I figured myself that it was pointless to debate what all was coming up, since it's almost out, and as I said earlier, we have no pull on them, it is all up to the producers, not us, so it is just a moot point. as moot as debating characters....hmmm, maybe it wasn't as off topic of a conversation then was it?
