Dissidia: Final Fantasy - Released in All Major Territories!

Well I have to say I'm both very happy...And rather creeped out by Kefka.

His voice is a little too Clown Generic for me. But then, I always imagined him with Gilbert Godfree as his VA for the last 10 years. Initial impressions will influence. I love the way he's teasing as Cloud of Darkness's ...whatever the hell those little things are. Tentacle-Porn waiting to happen if she has her way with any of the prettier protagonists, no doubt.


Its Terra. If we're going based on what we know about this picture, Zidane as a poneytail. It apears as a little bit of spikeyness at the top of his head from your picture Sando.

The UK female halso has the same sorta spikes on the back of her head. That being said, we can only assume she has a poney tail. We know that in every illustration of Celes, her hair seems to go out of its way to billow in the breeze, free as all hell. Terra on the other hand has a very upraised poneytail that would show prominently.

Also, if that IS a female, look at her posture. Its very...well...feminen. In a large number of Amano pictures, Terra is either sitting, or half sitting in a posture that really eccentuates th curves of her body. She is the "Beautiful" memeber of VI's cast, where as Celes is far stronger and hardset, being a trained general.

Let's use these ideas. Then we'd get, left to right:

Terra, OK, Cloud, Cecil, Tidus, LW, (Galuf or Bartz, shown in knight class,) Zidane, Firion, Squall. (Galuf does make a more compelling destined-rival argument than Bartz, and would be useful as an age counterpart to the younger OK and Tidus.)

I just noticed further proof, in this picture, which other people on Youtube have pointed out.



Classic illustrations of Terra such as here show that she has the sleeves of her dress cross over to her knuckles. At first I thought the girl here was just wearing a ring, until I noticed its actually apart of something that folds right over her knuckles and goes up her arm.

And probably most telling is that she's wearing what is unmistakeably a mini-skirt. Terra is either only wearing pants, or if you go by the Sprite art, a leotard.

This is definetly Terra.

Hmm. That's at 4:44 and certainly looks that way; but right between 4:45 and 4:46 she moves, revealing that the gloves are short. Not a huge problem.

I'd try a height comparison, but resources on character bios conflict somewhat. Going to try it ANYWAY.

-The female (UK1) seems to be Terra. (Height comparison will not solve Terra vs. Celes, it's quite close.)

-UK2: I'm still assuming that this is Cloud.

-UK3: Here's where I'm changing it up. This will be the character from FF5. Though standing behind a snow mound or something, this character appears to be as tall as Tidus. If Tidus is shorter due to being aged down, then this character is Galuf. If Tidus is his normal height however, this will be Bartz. (Again, the destined rivals rule favours Galuf.)

-UK4, then, is Cecil. I could be interpreting a shadow as a second sword (watch the sequence animated) and between the shoulder design and his being Rather Large, he must be Cecil (cf: the still of the video at 0:52 - there's no shadow/sword there.)

The DK(sigma)3713 trailer is now up on the japanese web site, all the characters are somewhat shown (though you have to zoom to see them all) you get a great look at kefka though, he is freaky. I mean freakier than normal!

Edit: I just watched the trailer in a larger format, and you can make out Bartz in it, and what looks to be General Celes. And what also appears to be Cecil. Still can't make out the 7 hero, but we will see how that comes along.

I didn't see Celes when I looked... and I hope, I seriously hope, I don't.

Looking at the still of the heroes... we definitely see ten.

We know that FF4, FF5, FF6, and FF7 have not "officially" coughed up heroes, though all ten villains are confirmed. Thus, of course, the four unknowns are these heroes.

-Unknown 1: Definitely female. Definitely not from 7 (since that WILL be Cloud.) Definitely not from 4 (the appearance excludes Rydia, and I highly doubt that Rosa will get the nod opposite Golbeza.)

But this is not "definitely" Celes, either - Krile has one of the best destined-rival arguments in her FF5 milieu, beaten out only by her grandfather Galuf who actually beat Exdeath as one of the original warriors of dawn. Certainly better than Bartz.

-Unknown 2: I think this is Cloud - the other three unknowns don't quite fit, and the casual stance that UK2 has just screams Cloud to me.

-Unknown 3: Not sure.

-Unknown 4: At first, I thought "this MUST be Cecil." But he's dual wielding swords, with the apparent "main hand" sword being in his left hand. The fellow is easily the largest of the heroes, physically, and has a long cape and possibly heavy armour.

Unknown 1 (female) I think this is Terra like everyone seems too.
Unknown 2 I also think this looks like Cloud, though there's no Buster Sword in sight.
Unknown 3 Judging from the suit, it looks like, Bartz? From Final Fantasy V, but I've not player much of V.
Unknown 4 This looks like Kain to me, if you look closely, you can faintly see a line coming from his head which should be from his helmet, the only thing I find strange is that if the held weapon is a lance, it looks curved.

Cloud is Cloud. He was never based on Gackt.

Lenne was not based on Utada. She doesn't even remotely LOOK like Lenne. She was based on Koda Kumi.

Thank you for correcting me, It was a mistake on my part. I was defenitly wrong about lenne (it really wasn't that hard of a mistake). But one thing....

....Cloud was too based off Gackt, actually alot of the graphic designs on the characters of Final Fantasy through the ages took hints from the band Malice Mizer....which is Gackts old band. Cloud has a few points within his costume that were based off of different outfits of Gackt.

Well back on subject.

One, you do know Celes would have so much more interesting conversation, as to the fact that whenever Terra interacted with Kefka while with the empire she was under mind control. Celes not only being a willing member of the military, but another Officer and subject to the same project that drove Kefka insane. And on top of that, Celes was far more interesting of a character. And didn't they also make the comment that the opposite of Kefka was going to be a female that at one point had been somewhat close to him? Well, Celes had been close, not Terra, keeping in mind the hypno crown and all.

2: There have confirmed that there will be a hero from 4, 5, 6. and 7. They are choosing pair ups from each game, and choosing them for the interaction.

3. Numora dislikes Cloud, and we have already seen that his taste sways the choices (example, Jecht - His favorite character). He has made comments in the past on how Cloud is a boring character. To tell you the truth I agree. I said it once, and I will say it again, I think cloud has ran his course, and dialogue wise, we don't need the unsocial angst that is pouty cloud, or the "can you do this job for me and say it was me" of young Cloud. All I am saying, is I think Numora had chosen some one else, but I won't say who I think it is.

5: It's not just amono art that the characters are designed as, it is a combination of Amono and Numora's own style. Some more Amono, some less.

Well that should be enough, I usually don't post here because things divolge to nothing to quickly, but I wanted to put my two cents in about Cloud. I think aa handful of people put way to much faith into him as a character, when truthfully he is a very 2D bland character.

So I am done.

Nomura isn't the one choosing the characters. He's simply designing them. This game is supposed to be a celebration of FF's history, of the original games. Of course it's going to be Cloud, no matter how bland you think he is.

Because Zeromous and Dark Cloud where just brimming with interesting things to say in their original games. If anything I hope Terra gets in due to her subdued nature. It'll be a nice contrast as far as I'm concerned.

Jecht was choosen based on the dynamic in his relationship with Tidus. Nomura's tastes have little to do with this game. Don't make the mistake of thinking otherwise.

Sephiroth's line is more then enough in-game evidence to prove Cloud's role. "I will destroy you...because you are a puppet.". We all know exactly what that means. Its a historical line as far as FFVII is concerned, and its meant to be said to only ONE person.

Sorry folks, for better or worse, Cloud is in. I think though, that he won't be given the grand-status that everyone else has been fearing. If this were true, Sephiroth would continue to receive grandstatus as well. Yet he is one of the least present characters in all the footage. If anything, I think they're downplaying Cloud and Sephiroth as far as the advirtizing is going. Squall though, seems to be getting a LOT of attention.

Well they did mention armor and weapons would be interchangeable.

So far we've only seen basic weapons and ultimate weapons changing during exmode. But that doesn't mean other weapons won't be available during normal mode. It could just mean ultimate weapons (Ultima weapons, Caladbolg, Blood Sword, Excalabur, etc) would only be available during Exmode.

I'm not sure, but all the other heroes are in their early twenties and to me it would be pretty messed up having the older guys sound younger than the younger ones themselves.

Actually, most of the heroes are young.

Light Warrior: Totally unknown.
Firion: Unknown.
OK: Unknown, but likely to be very young (perhaps 10. The Onion Kids were mere children playing soldier, who stumbled upon the crystal and became heroes.)

FF6: Terra and Celes are both 18.

Squall: 17 (like most FF8 characters), but keep in mind that Squall has a harder edge that makes him seem more mature. Thus, his voice should naturally seem older.
Zidane: 16
Tidus: Normally 17, but "aged down" some unknown amount for Dissidia.

Believe it or not, they did indeed make the change "for the sake of doing so." Something to do with a slight alteration to Tidus to fit the general graphical style of Dissidia, and that change happened to be for the younger. (Consider the changes to Squall and Sephiroth - minor, but intended to pull them into a unified style.)
