I don't exactly understand why they would crossover I and IX, but my guess is that if it's anything like Eirgheiz (or however you spell it) it will be a flop.

Actually it is technically, while it is a bit of a stretch, possible to connect the two universes through Garland. However since IX seemed to be somewhat of a homage game while crafting it's own fortune I suppose it wouldn't make much sense to connect them.

Hell, stranger things have been done to connect Final Fantasy universes though.

Quetz: It did look weird the first time I saw the scan, but for all we know, it could encompass more than that. We might even get an RPG mode for the sake of staying with its roots. XD

We don't know if it's only going to be that. People are speculating. Confirmed information are in the first page (which does not hint exclusivity to only IX and I) .

Too be honest they probably just announced characters people wouldn't expect. It'd make more people kind of go, "wah? Hmm."

They could have just announced, "Cloud! Vincent! Tidus!"

Wouldn't have made it as interesting for a lot of us. Alot of those people that squee for FFVII and FFXII will end up buying this anyways cause it's Final Fantasy.
