I can just imagine the Square press release.

"Yes, we've completly bent up the game's formula and choose some less important character who has hardly any meaningful relationship to Sephiroth, all because a few self-absorbed fans would prefer to see someone else, nevermind it would never properly work according to the game's own storyline structure. Don't mind us, we're just completly botching things and doing the illogical thing. So yes, we will be having Cait Sith fighting Sephiroth."

People, use some common sense. This isn't about pulling away from FFVII. Its an ANIVERSERY game. Like it or not, Cloud's been apart of that 20 years. Not including him, when by all rights he is the canon protagonist of the ORIGINAL Final Fantasy VII, is ludicrus. This game has absalutly nothing to do with the sequals or spin offs, and will probably make no references to anything but VII itself. Y'know, the one that came out ten bloody years ago? Right before VIII but after VI?

Or did we forget that in our "Need To Get Away From VII" craze? He will NOT have any more of a part then the others, but for heavens sakes, there's no need to UNDERCUT him.

Honestly. =_=;;

I have fallen for you again heart Thats twice!

lol, that makes a lot of sense!^__^
..But I still really want to see Quistis

LOL Cait Sith....
Was this supposed to be aimed at me somewhat? ô_o I agree with you that it would make every bit of sense for them to use Cloud. I have no problems with him at all. I just wouldn't mind if they used someone else other than him. That was all I was saying.... I actually wish they would include more than one main character from each FF. Wouldn't mind fighting with Tifa or another girl character.

Not just you. There is a LARGE chunk of people who just annoy me, by thinking this is a Smash Brother's with FF characters, where you can junction anyone in.

Cloud, as he is in the original FFVII, is the logical, ideal, and only probably FFVII character to be placed alongside Sephiroth. Anyone else is just a small fry, with nothing worthwhile to say to him. Every character so far thats been shown has a meaningful relationship. A "Conflict" that makes it worth playing the game for.

The biggest draw of this game to me is the fact that this ISN'T just a beat-em up. I'm highly interested in the dialogue thats going to ocure. It annoys me that nobody else seems to really get that concept. They're too busy in the "Oooh, I want ____ to be 3D'tized and pretty"

Shallow thinking from shallow minds.
For the most part, I'm wondering when in the storylines would Cosmos and Chaos take the characters from. I mean, they could make it in an alternete universe or something.

That's odd. Practically everyone I talk to (outside Gaia) who's interested in Dissidia are totally interested in the storyline, including myself.

That, was pure classic!

Well the opening of the first Dissidia trailer hints at a new world, and possibly because of Cosmos and Chaos, characters from 12 worlds are inside the 13th world.

This is what the opening was in case you forgot/didn't know:

"The world has been created 12 times, and the 13th time is beginning.
Reality and destruction are not defined by the Creator.
This is, decided, by each and every person who shares this world."
The way they act, interact, and certain conditions of their relationship make it seem like these aren't exactly the same characters from their original games.

For example, Ultimecia mocks Squall over insecurities that by all rights should not be an issue after disk 2.

Kuja and Zidane shouldn't be considered enemies either after the end of FF IX.

And most of all, their explaination of Jecht and Tidus's conflict, which completly alters their relationship by finaly putting them face to face before any of the game's events occur.

I think all in all its the core-personality of the characters that are being braught into this game. That, and something else...Each of them is being shown to represent a higher ideal then just the simple struggle between good and evil. Be it Firion and Mataeus representing Chaotic Good vs Lawful Evil, or Squall and Ultimecia representing Trust vs Distrust. It seems like both villains and characters are reenacting all of the qualities that make them who they are, but without the original storyline or supporting characters attatched.

I wonder exactly will be the meaning of Cloud and Sephiroth's relationship. Or rather, what sort of higher meaning they're going to try and give them.

Namely this:
Quote:
Arakawa: The scenes with Tidus and Jecht should be quite an interesting expansion. In the main FF10 story the two only got a chance to talk together in the final scene. This time we're telling the parts of that story that couldn't be seen before.

Are you saying we'll be able to see events that weren't shown in the main stories?

Arakawa: There will be quite a few. But what we're doing is fine tuning the original story details behind the characters' births, relationships, interactions. Tidus has a connection with the heroes, while Jecht is tangled with the characters on the Chaos side

I wonder how is Nomura gonna sew them together.
It should be interesting.

Nomura's only doing the character designs.
"There's bad guys and good guys who are just going to fight each other to win, with some story that won't be related to their respective games while retaining the same personalities and relationships they've had with their counterparts."

Basic summary of that is already evident and obvious based on the design of the game.

However, I have this slight inkling that there may be another "major villain" that we haven't seen before come into the fray. Maybe some kind of "creator"? I can't really see Cosmos or Chaos being the final battle for the game.

My bets are on Namingway, that little b*****d.

Shiokawa, my bad. Still, I'm pretty sure Nomura will have his hands in as well.
