The basics of 8-way lever and 6 button input system won't change. However, Ono said that he'd like to add something that he referred to as an "assist" feature. He said the iPhone version of SFIV has somewhat of an answer to this desire -- a feature that lets players feel that they were able to do tough moves.

Wow, ******** you Ono. Do me a favour and stay the ******** away from Darkstalkers. Gigantic ******** buffer and reversal windows with shortcuts left and right made execution in SSFIV easy enough already. Stop adding these ******** stupid features to my goddamn fighting games.

Yes, I mad.

not anything we don't already know. It's ono aka oh no.

I can see it now. trying to Wavedash under s**t but can't because of shortcut inputs.

I'm sold. Wish I could better myself at Super Street Fighter 4 before this ish comes out though xp

My friend who is a long time Tekken hater was sold as soon as he saw the gameplay footage
Why do you people b***h so much about SSF4 reversal windows?

Quit playing online and learn how to bait plz. I love scrubs that take forever to try and DP me.

Game won't be out for another 2 years. Pretty sure it's going to be absolutely fine.
Because losing matches for dropping a link combo is stupid. Because being having to be ******** paranoid about reversals when going in for hit/throw mix-up is stupid. You want to go for counter-hits? Too bad, they can just mash DP the moment you leave a gap for them to do something. In other games, sure, you could DP out of mix-up too. But the player on the aggressive could change the timing of where he leaves a gap with shorts and jabs. No such thing in SSFIV.
This might be the greatest game of all time.

meh...not sold yet.

like Sio said, if we're not mashing reversals, that's a step in the right direction. But i'm not holding out. It's just SF4's engine with Tekken characters and a few in game tweaks.

would've prefered a actual Namco X Capcom fighter still.

Agreed.

It worked with all the previous games because they weren't mashing "technically" two different genres or styles. 3d fighters and 2d fighters are completely different. Unless there is an alt version for Tekken style of play.. I am not sold. It's a fanboy's wet dream but for others it's really sad to see Tekken characters being put in a 2d realm. For me, not really a big deal because I'm so hyped for BlazblueCS right now. sweatdrop Also biased because I cannot get into Street Fighter. I love the character designs, the game's graphics old & new but usually all my favorite characters were charge characters and I just can't.

I can't. gonk
I don't mind the crossover really. I just don't like the fact it's using the SF4 engine for Capcom's side. I know it's still very early stages but I'd honestly want 2d sprites over 2.5d style. I wouldn't mind seeing Kaz and the gang in a actual SF style game.

just in case you haven't noticed, i'm more interested in Tekken x Street Fighter. The one everyone will ignore because it's nothing but "juggle juggle juggle" and a bunch of other BS excuses no one will understand because they don't play Tekken.

It's not like we're going to hear anything about either game again until 2011. In any case, some new info:

DEV PLANS
Development on the two sides is being handled completely separate. They will not be sharing information between the teams. Capcom will be doing their own designs for the Namco characters, and Namco will handle designs for the Capcom fighters. They're also working separately on the gameplay for both titles.

Both sides are looking at these games as a competition and not a collaboration, as they want to challenge each other in all areas, from sales to game play.

ROSTER
They're considering putting in the early generation characters from each franchise.

We can only hope both games will do well, because if one bombs, the other will either dominate easy or die harder.
I don't know. I doubt that either game will end up particularity good. I love to be proven wrong though.

Jun and Kunimitsu anyone? biggrin

lol, sorry for the fangirl moment, but I'm totally psyched for this game! Especially because I was really disappointed when I bought Street Fighter 4 (it really wasn't what I expected).

As Shin said, I'm more excited about Tekken x Street Fighter for the simple fact that it will be on a better engine. I am willing to give Street Fighter x Tekken a chance though. It'll be really interesting to see how the Tekken characters play on the SF4 engine.

Because didn't you say this yourself. "Because no one seems to have any real life friends anymore" thats why.

I just suck all round at that game and the new s**t period xp My somewhat devoted friend to end (known since 3rd grade) lost interest in fighting games, and my only source of competition are my other friends who don't have much interest in them like we did. When he lost interest, I guess for me it was like a piece of myself and interest as well left and or died in me. Sure you can fight people who are better then you learn and grow and get better at the game, but when the person who showed you how to play the game, taught you how to do such and such, had friendship and bounded with in youths, play umteen hours of s**t in the middle of the night and day, tell you no man I don't want to play you in X game no more or any fighters for that matter that s**t hurt. That made me in a sense lose my drive gradually.

END OF NO HOMO RANT rofl emo

Now with this new s**t, my friend seems to have some interest so im trying to get him into Tekken a game which he hates for some reason but is showing some interest just like the Cap vs snk games got him interested in KOF and Garou. Maybe that will spark interest. Whenever a new major fighter comes out we always have a big gathering. Pizza, wings, beer, the works. Its like a social gathering for us. That we've been doing since god knows when. Thats why fighters are a big deal for me.
Well, SFxT is looking more like a modern-day Darkstalkers 1 at this point. It's Street Fighter-based, but there are things like chain combos (though they may be possibly only target combos) and tech rolls (looks like Tekken's animation so there may be Tekken-like options out of it).

Personally, I'm having mixed feelings about this game. Concept-wise from what we've seen so far, it should be a faster-paced game which will put more emphasis on footsies which is what I like. But at the same time, I'm worried about how far they will go with "accessibility." From what I've heard so far, it's not looking good.

I have no problem with trying to increase accessibility. But there comes a point where it starts interfering with core mechanics and execution. I have gotten s**t like walk forward c.MK xx Shoryuken far too many times in SSFIV for my liking. Guilty Gear players might kill me for this, but I personally think BlazBlue addresses the accessibility issue correctly. Pacing aside, they only simplified offensive execution (combos, RCs, etc.). But the game still gives you no extra help for defense compared to Guilty Gear (with the exception of throw tech cues). If you start trying to mash out a reversal, you're going to get counter-hit which is how it should be.
There's no need to argue! It's Street Fighter vs Tekken!
Reversal window problem sounds like it's solved from playing offline
Huh, I wonder what's going on in this thread h- Oh s**t, debates everywhere!
I miss you guys!

Anyway. If anyone wants to see how the s**t went down at Comic-Con.

As a casual fan of SSF4 (as in I suck at the game but I still enjoy playing it), I'm rather excited. It kinda reminds me of Darkstalkers in a sense. Maybe I'm crazy since it's been like a decade since I've played Darkstalkers. I'm assuming SOME of the Tekken characters are going to have projectiles (Bryan pulls out a shotgun for example).
I'd be lying if I said I'm more interested in this than Tekken x Street Fighter. Not only do I prefer 3D fighters, but hell, seeing Ryu and Chun-Li in a more realistic look and fighting in a 3D plane seems to intrigue me a lot.
