How'd you manage to get your hands on one of Kuroda's DVDs? I would seriously consider picking up one if I knew how.

Hmmm...Street Fighter IV not considered a street fighter game?

Friend of a friend. First friend got copies for a second friend. Second friend gave me the copy yesterday after the Fight for the Future tournament (I crashed at his place).

He also has the Gouki and Dudley DVDs, both of which I'm definitely going to watch in the future. According to my buddy, Gouki is really, really basic. No shenanigans (much like you'd see J.R. Rodriguez do); just really solid play.

Damn, that's too bad.

I figured Kuroda's Akuma would be pretty basic. His footsies are amazing so he doesn't ever really need to use shenanigans.

Well, all of the DVDs seem really basic at first. You'll see some pretty cool stuff (such as red-parrying EX Hadous from Ken). What's important to see is his position and what he does to punish the opponent. For instance, what my buddy and I saw during the Alex vid was a cool ambiguous cross-up setup. Like, Alex having a cross-up setup is awesome, but for it to be ambiguous? Who would've thought?

So as I pray...Unlimited Blade Works!
Duralath stage...completed.

Okay, I used to use Alex in 3rd Strike, but i realized I had gotten extremely lazy, almost standing totally still while I let people simply jump into his grapples (ridiculously easy way to win), so I picked another character to make myself more aggressive.

So I use Sean now.

Sean is awesome. His attacks lunge him around, making him high mobility, and people are constantly watching out for the basketball, which keeps them preoccupied.

Plus it's great to see someone finally land a super on me, only to have it interrupted by my basketball, which I had thrown beforehand, lol.

I gotta say, I really enjoy Sean. I can use Alex, Ryu, Q, Ibuki, Makoto, Hugo, and Sean, but Sean is becoming my favorite (though i'm still at my best with Alex, especially since i'm now more aggressive.)

Anyone else like playing as Sean?
I like playing as Sean. As in, Third Strike Sean. I'll use all of his special moves in a fight. Tornado Kick, Wheel Kick, Sean Tackle, Double-Fist SRK, all of them. I use the headbutt and that pretty spin jump kick with forward fierce HK, too. Yeah the basketball is a big help, but also the dodge roll, too. It also helps if you got a decent parry game while youre using him too. Favorite Super Art, his Shoryu-Cannon, because like Sio it IS harder to parry that, not saying its impossible, but its just harder.

Fundamentals are the most important thing in any Street Fighter game anyway. If I wanted to learn new shenanigans, I wouldn't even care about Kuroda's DVDs in the first place.

It is, but it's just Street Fighter 2 rehashed with stuff from more recent games, lol.

More like Street Fighter II if movement was painfully slow, everything had hardly any blockstun, and buffer and reversal windows were huge.

Yeah, the game sucks, I just didn't want to say anything that would cause a freaking firestorm in here, lol. Fanboyism and all that jazz.

Well, I admit, I have put in absolutely zero practice towards parrying, because the arcade machine I play on is home made, and the people who play on it slam the controls, so it doesn't always respond properly, so I don't trust the controls enough to risk parrying.

I've still parried a few times, I just don't focus on it.

Actually the same reason I don't parry, is the same reason I don't normally use the Super Moves.

You don't really need parrying anyway. The only time I really do it is either as an option select or if I see something is coming.

It's pretty much only for projectiles, in my case.

I doubt you'll start a riot in this thread. this isn't the Smash Bros. thread lol.

we all understand that everyone has different opinions. Well hell..most of the regulars know that in the FGF. It's just some people can take it too far.

personally I got tired of SF4 but I blame online play and people getting stupid things like throws off with no effort. Plus I play Rose and Boxer. I don't mind Boxer and Rose at all but they're the only people I really play seriously...I'll play Ryu/Dictator(Bison)/Viper and not feel anything. Though for Viper, it's cause I haven't been training enough with her.

Below is my honest opinion of Street Fighter 4.

Everyone is now Super Deformed, with Guile and Chun Li being the best example (Guile's head proportions have been completely inverted from previous appearances, while Chun Li now has a pinhead with massive monkey hands and feet.)

Plus the "bulging expressions" when struck was only really used with Comedy Characters before this, such as Blanka, Hugo, and Dan, if i'm not mistaken.

As for characters, as I said before, the new characters are about as generic as you get.

El Fuerte, Rufus, and Viper all seem like they'd fit better in King of Fighters, and the bad guy is just a Gill rehash. Abel has absolutely NO distinguishing characteristics, whatsoever. He might as well have been named John Doe....actually, that would be a far more appropriate name. And his playstyle just seemed like a pathetic attempt to make a Mini-Alex. Why the hell didn't they just use ALEX?

The gameplay is slow as crap, and everything is now sluggish.

The game as a whole just feels like some sort of transgression against street fighter, and I'm not even that big of a Street Fighter fan.

Been wanting to say that for a while, lol.

outside of the opinions on characters (which isn't much of a reason to hate the gameplay but..whatever) I think a lot of people say some of that. (at least the slow paced bit.)

the only new characters I cared for were Viper and Elf. Viper's still cool with me but I just like laughing at Elf. otherwise he's in the "not care" boat with Abel and Rufus.

gameplay feels slow because people can just sit back and turtle for free. Not as much as 3S but it's somewhat of a "do something to make things roll the ball" type thing...I think?

though the transition away from street fighter I dunno. If you're talking from old school street fighter then yea cause it really doesn't play anything like SFII. As it's not a footsie's based game. Plus there's larly (I believe it was him) a few pages back talking about Ultras making the game turn the tides so anyone can make a comeback victory. In a sense it's like Tekken. If you're not spacing well and are throwing random moves out that leave you at a disadvantage, you're going to get punished/juggled and get it hard.

It's because the stages are ******** HUGE.

Take a look at ANY other Street Fighter game. No game has had stages as nearly as large at Street Fighter IV.
