I feel the same way about Taki, and I totally agree with the native language stuff. I felt that relevant to point out because no one else I know has. By the way, Taki does have a guard break, and it's kind of quick too, but it's really easy to avoid with a side step or guard impact.( I love the backward guard impact.) It's back back horizontal attack(A OR on PS2)
You hold it down too for the actual guard break maneuver.
44A is NOT a guard crush. you must be talking about 44B (which is back back, VERTICAL not horizontal!)
No offense.. I hate Link in Soul Calibur 2. Maybe I am so use to playing the aracade version also.. I own the console.
I am not a Link hater, either.
i hate Link in Soul Calibur 2 simply because his moves arent that great. Link, the character, isnt bad though. the only reason i support the GC version of Soul Calibir 2 is because it brings out the best (or better) from arcade-to-console transition overall (control/sound/graphics/etc)
my best and my favorite are lizrdman. I dont know why he just are my best guy to fight with. although i am prettywhen paired with his soul calibur weapon. all soul edge weapons are bad i dislike them domokun domokun eats them for me....yaay domokun
omg.. lizardman? he is SO good, merely the fact that he is bugged like hell.. using his bugs you can do a juggle with him, only to launch your opponent up again and juggle like crazy. can you say broken char?
I don't really have a favourite and I don't really think I have a best character 'cause I'm pretty good with a lot of people, but my brother says I'm good with Talim, Taki and Xianghua (but she really annoying). I think Cervantes is the best unlockable 'cause he's a pirate scream ARRRRRRRGGHHH. For weapons I like Astaroth's Thanatos 'cause its so huge xp . I beat it on normal in just under 3 mins and in about 4'30 on hard. I used to play Tekken a lot so I like Heihachi 'cause he's an old guy
^the reason you might be good with Talim/Taki is because they are poke-masters. as for Xianghua, she is a safe character (ie she can block almost RIGHT AWAY after doing a move) so that makes her top tier. last but not least, to add to your Cervantes or the "a** pirate" liking, he is #1 on the Soul Calibur 2 character ranking project.
staggy_99 wrote Yoshimitsu has to be the best.
He has such great moves.
yoshimitsu is good but nightmare is abit better, i always chose yoshimitsu in tekken biggrinxdbiggrin
Character that you are best with.
Favorite weapon, or worst weapon.
Favorite: Sould edge
Which bonus characters are best.
How fast you beat it.
about 1 week
the game is ace and so is capcom vs. snk2 if anyones played it and also marvel vs. capcom, i just love fighting games scream3noddingblaugh
I dunno about Cervantes, man. In Soul Edge his move list was wicked awesome! (although sieggy's was bettah) and in Soul Calibur One he certain was a man to be feared. But his fashion sense has always been.. lacking..
I don't know of any grown man who would want to show that much middrift. It makes me question.. some things...
since you say you "dont know", its quite obvious you havent seen what a professional Cervy player can do. some notes for you to shut you up if you believe cervy sucks:
7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
People rant up and down about how Cervy lost this and lost that and boo-hoo-hoo, but nobody ever seems to comment on what he actually gained. In SCI his fastest move was 6K at i13?c A was i15 as was B and just about everything else. As the current data illustrates, Cervy?fs As and Bs are now on par with Cassandra. In fact, a lot of Cervy?fs moves are actually sped up from I to II. Would X be considered top tier if her A was i15 instead of i10? No. So yeah, the lose of BS combo city did hurt him, but why hasn?ft anyone reflected on his new found speed?
Anyway, after several rap sessions with FUG (Japan?fs top rated SCI and SCII player) I began to explore Cervy. FUG has now won several top events with him, one semi-national event in Oosaka where he pretty much owned everyone. So how can Cervy be played in such a dominate fashion? Confidence is paramount. He?fs got speed and damage already, but most importantly he has extremely powerful tools that can be applied viscerally with simple execution. If we look seriously at our current so-called top tiers we see a consistent trend (outside of X), they all bear some consistent trends?c difficult executions or tools that are strong but difficult or risky to apply. Cervy?fs are safe and simple to execute and apply. 3A for example is the strongest close range M in the game. It can?ft be stepped, stays safe, and offers CH based combos. Can anyone think of something better? Closest is Yoshi?fs 44B+K, but that?fs mid to long range only.
He?fs got a great AA now, largely due to his speed upgrade. Also, he?fs got aB which prevents duck happy players from getting anywhere.
Once again, this attack couldn?ft be a better tool. It can?ft be stepped and all CHs produce a stun for Cervy. It?fs faster in II than I and thus even more applicable. 2A+B will hit non-left tech, but isn't too hard to avoid. Mix this with wakes to keep them downed.
This was awesome in SCI and retains that in II. While it may not be quick, it does stun on CH and produces solid block stun on guard. I?fll report back with the total BS soon.
Post GI this can be a monster. If the throw hits 8WR 1B combos for massive damage.
I wonder is this could be better?c massive reach, safety, horizontal coverage, and solid damage. Even better, the cancel to B produces a lifter that is bs0 on guard. Too good. I catch so many people with this when they try to run away, the range is surprising.
Used in moderation this UB is a powerful force. Weaker players tend to outright abuse this and thus get punished by stronger players for it. However, if you?fre wise enough to moderate your use of it, it can carry Cervy far in clutch situations.
One of his many good DOS attacks. Can be mixed with 4aA for safety and RO potential. If they DOS break well throw post DOS.
Awesome horizontal coverage and solid RO potential. Solid damage to boot.
Awesome horizontal coverage and solid RO potential. Solid damage to boot.
8WR 2A series
8WR 2AA combos on CH and ROs very far to Cervy?fs left. The 8WR 2AB is extremely safe, though both are almost un-punishable. The timing separation between them also prevents 4G from stopping both.
Boo-hoo-hoo, he lost CH BBB. Shut up, nobody else has that either. His Bs now tracks better and each one can be delayed as well as the first one being fake-able into the later Bs. Solid stuff. Fast with better tracking is a nice return even if he lost a lot of cheese for it. Keep in mind that hit 2 CH will combo into 3 and then enable more combos. Delay delay delay.
Does this mythical attack even exist? Yes it does now shut up. 6B and 6 look identical, however 6 will produce DOS on CH and allows the second B to be delayed forever almost. This is one of the longest reaching DOS moves in SCII and damn useful. Granted, they can does shake, so know the opponent and throw if they do. Also consider 1A+B on DOS shakers.
OK, this one has been changed for the worse, but he doesn?ft truly need a lifter, 66B does 60 total, that?fs 25%. 4 66Bs and its PO. But getting back to 3B it does have merits, as we know CH 3B, 2A+B, 8A+B combos and dishes a lot of damage. Non-CH 3B enables little other than B2 for damage and wakes or another 3B for RO potential. Either way, 3B is a safe lifter that has a lot of application in his stun game.
Crying Xiang?fs and stupid players beware!
Delay able and NC on CH. Not only is 4B faster, it?fs all around more effective with the K follow-up. Good for ROs and general pressure. Few people will duck the K.
This is really the tool to use when you know someone is crouching. It shifts to throw reliably on crouchers and dishes 25%. It?fs safe nature and solid wakes make it too good not to abuse. That and Cervy hates you!
Did you know, did you know? The 8WR version is slightly faster kids. Go go go! Cervy still doesn?ft like you.
Good in combos of all sorts. Post A4B, CH 66K, CH 3B etc etc etc. Damage.
Some people swear by this puppy, it tracks and gives CH combos, but I think 66B is slightly better overall. Variety is important however.
4KK and 3K
One, two, three and to the four. 4KK just has a magical way of hitting people. NC on CH and good RO potential, mix in 3Ks for fakes and fun.
Irritation. I have a theory that?fs moments away from becoming a law?c few people block Ls that do little damage and don?ft knock down. Psychologically they see no reason to. Well good for them, 5+ 2Ks later they may see a reason.
More fun that 2K because it?fs TRICKY! RCC back into another 1K or WS K them, either way they have to guess on 1K hit.
RO potential. Family fun.
There?fs a JF timing on the 2nd B that will make impossible to Step around. NC on hit, slightly delay able and solid in all regards.
Solid ground hit and good screening tool.
Fun UB that has applications against DOS shakers and post GDR.
Steps left, actually good to beat down NM?fs 66B.
This is a solid MM that steps forward well and it good in general. While 66B maybe better to punish the croucher, this does offer variety and effectiveness.
More useful than it seems from long range. Imagine and Ivy that has you trapped with SE A+B set-up. Jump to reduce the damage? Not if you're Cervy, smack that ho in her head! This works well against PT happy Astas and keep-out NMs. Tracks and does good bs on block. I believe on deep hit 2A+B is guaranteed.
Rodger would be proud! Either way this is another deceptive L for Cervy, though not as safe as his other Ls.
And finally Reversals!
He?fs the only one that really has anything like these; smart application can go a long way on them. Go Cervy!
Yeah this isn?ft a strong suit for him, but they deal good damage and his grab animation is subtle enough to make them effective. Since the initial animation is subtle people are forced to crouching in anticipation?c this will produce more M hits for smart players.
-B2 good for wakes
-2A+B, FC B good for damage
-2A+B, 8A+B good for damage
-8WR 1B good for wakes
-8A+B best overall
-AA mix this with throwing them when they get lazy
-2[B+K] best overall
-8WR 1B best overall
-2A+B anything else?
-8WR 1B best overall
More to come.
P.S. Cervy wanted me to tell you that being a tearing little baby doesn't please him at all. He no longer likes you and hopes you die.
